Here I am too! Grin Interesting about face & figure, I have lost 2 double chins & this has been noticed by F&F, it was the 1st thing people spotted & there was me celebrating about the disappearance of a tummy, few more to go on both counts. I need to see how I feel when (being focussed here) I get down to 11st and how I look too of course, I do NOT want to look like the female version of Nigel Lawson post-diet.......

Obs2 - I ended up being less well behaved on the curry night than you were, managed 2 odd tandoori chicken things as a starter, then prawns in spinach (love this) which probably had all sorts of naughties in it. This wasn't too bad, but I had 2 popadoms .......and half a small naan......Blush then there was the vat of.......Wine So I am being very, very restricted today and tomorrow, to make up for being weak-willed. DH is suffering with me & has just looked at me with big eyes & said in a small voice......I am very hungry........I feel awful (even though he ate lots too) but don't want to turn into a feeder!!!!

Early dins then, easiest solution.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! And glad I'm not the only one keeping it hush!
Thanks to not2b for the new thread!

I'm dying to lose weight from my face. It's what makes me look heavy, iykwim. I have small eyes anyway, so on a fat face they're terrible. My double chin is the one part that I look at in the mirror and hate the most!

Report
H3l3naGraham · 23/03/2016 16:57

Hello Pink - it will go from your face, honest, one of my chins went pretty quickly, then the other just wasn't there any more one day when I looked. I am now trying to get out & about & walk more, have also promised myself that I will join the aqua aerobics class (groans) as exercise, however modest does seem to get those fat cells out of the body faster! No surprises there, hoping it doesn't pee down over Easter as have persuaded DH to dust off the bikes Star

Now off to make (early) supper, lemon chicken, with a teaspoon of pine-nuts and some broccoli and green beenz.

The weight went from my face really quickly. Customers at work have been telling me my face looks really slim. More noticeable to me is when I look down my belly doesn't stick out past my boobs!

I posted on the old thread, about starting the diet. I had an 'off week' a week ago (still lost weight through sensible eating but carbs, even beer, featured) but am back on the full diet for the remaining 2 weeks.

I've just gone and bought my first size 14 clothes in a very long time! One was a jersey dress - so it has stretch but the other was a fitted cotton dress and there was no give in it Grin

I'm 2 stone lighter, 1.5 of it on this diet. My clothes are beginning to hang off me and I'm dumping them straight down the charity shop (farewell size 16 Fat Face knitted dresses - you served me well) as there will be no going back.

Just posting for some advice from you wise ones! I started BSD at the beginning of Feb (after shamefully lapsing on 5:2) - all great for about 4 weeks, enjoying the food & feeling fine. I don't weigh myself very often, but clothes were feeling a bit looser. I then developed a sinus problem (one side of face swollen like a chipmunk, not a good look) but I'm prone to this so wasn't too concerned.

However, face had just gone down when the very next day I had a dragging pain in right shoulder blade and under front ribs - asked partner to put Voltarol gel on and discovered horrible blisters. Yes, I now had shingles - blisters followed the line of the pain.

I am now into the third week and gradually feeling a bit better, but still sore and lethargic.

My question is - does anyone think that the "stress" of BSD left me more vulnerable to shingles? I have had it twice before, but 40 years ago. I am keen to get back to it as this WOE seems to suit me and I have quite a bit of flab to lose. Or would it be safer to try the BSD 5:2?

For info I have about 25kg to lose. I don't think I am T2 or pre-diabetic (according to the Quiz on the BSD site). Any advice, thoughts etc welcome.

Apologies for the essay!

Hello French any chance I know you from the 'old' 5:2 days? I am a lapsed 5:2er also ( was on the very first thread and then for about a year) and did really, really well , then sadly put it all back on in the next couple of years..Sad

However the BSD has pretty much sorted that out again .. so now I just have to make sure ( once I get back to goal) that I keep it off this time..
anyway . I dont know much about shingles, but yy Dad caught it recently ( January ) also , and hes not been on any diet ! .. I think its just one of those 'things' .

But , I would recommend you post this question on Michael Mosleys official BSD site. there are lots of people there with medical experience and sometimes he or his DR wife answer specific medical questions.. Im sure that is the best place to go ..

How are you feeling now?

Hi Laska , yes that's me, I remember you well. I'm in the same position - too much wine, baguettes and cheese! Glad you're doing so well with the BSD - it really is a revelation. Thanks for the tip about MM's site - will post on there tomorrow (just cooking a monkfish curry from one of Mimi Spencer's book and poor partner is about knawing his arm off waiting for it!).

Am feeling a lot better than a week or so ago, but still feeling sorry for myself.

Onwards and downwards - and well done on all the great results I keep seeing on here.

Oh french you poor thing, shingles fills me with fear. I saw something about shingles that if you'd had chicken pox earlier in life, the virus stays dormant & can reoccur as shingles. I've never heard of it being linked to food or in bsd lack of, the only thing I'd wonder was it linked to being run down with the sinus infection left you more susceptible? I'll stop waffling now, I've clearly no clue!
Ended up doing 16:8 as forgot to bring my lunch to work so had to eat yesterday's breakfast that I hadn't eaten (isn't this gripping? I know you're all on edge of your seats) Anyway, long story long, got Chinese for days dinner but bean sprouts instead of rice or chips and some skewered chicken so not that bad. Steps done, water drank, knackered...zzzz

H3Graham, doesn't sound TOO bad, re curry night. I've had a couple of wine here's and there in the last few weeks. Actually I'm going to my boss's 50th tomorrow and then for a curry with friends, so there may be more Wine drunk than even you did!!
Oh well. I am being strict in between.

Actually Not2 that makes a lot of sense. Sorry about your forgotten lunch - I used to hate it when I did that. Well done on the steps, and on resisting the carbs!

Laska no, frenchfancy (always loved that nn) is someone else. I'm sure she was involved with the original 5:2 receipe thread - must look back on that for some fresh ideas.

Just checking in, thanks for the new thread Not2be.

Potty training has been abandoned due to a stomach upset, there is only so much mess I'm willing to clean up! We'll try again in a month or so I think.

The house is full of chocolate in the run up to Easter and I spent the evening selling chocolate crispie cakes, my will power is clearly improving as I resisted the lot Halo

Going to an Italian tomorrow and on Saturday night, can't decide whether to just have the pasta/ pizza option or whether to try to find something low carb/low cal...

Morning all. After my weigh in this morning I've decided that I'm calling yesterday's weight my start weight for my second 4 weeks of bsd. There's no point focussing on returning to my end weight before I went on holidays, I think it's the wrong focus. So with that in mind, I'm starting my BSD part 2 at 11.10, down to 11.9.2 this morning. Feeling happy with that, 4 weeks takes me to 20th April. How's everyone else doing?

Hi, French the shingles virus, is the same virus which causes chicken-pox and yes, it does lie dormant in your body, it is often reactivated by stress or illness. Someone who hasn't had chickenpox can catch it from someone with shingles, so if you have young children who haven't yet had that particular nasty, you will need to be careful when hugging them, as it's the blisters which contain the virus.

Your doc can prescribe Acyclovir tablets, starting you on a high dose, then lowering it once they start to work, which is pretty quickly.

So if your sinus infection was bad (& it sounds dire) then I'd guess (am no medic) that this might have set you off, the BSD has been developed with nutritionists & offers a sound range of foodstuffs, but as you are generally run down then I wouldn't 5:2 until feeling much better.

Elvish good luck at the Italian, if you eat meat, chicken cacciatore is on-diet!!

Good luck over Easter everyone, we live in a generally sweetie-free zone asides from 85% Dark Chocolate & cocoa nibs (from my Sirt Diet), the only real temptation is Wine .....so have promised DH we can have some for lunch on Sunday, or I might have a rebellion on my hands!

PS Anyone having issues with intuitive 'text' on this stream, I am reading back what I've just typed and it's highly entertaining..... Not what I typed, this has been happening for about a week, is it me or the system? Anyone else experiencing issues?

I have been stuck at the same weight for 4 days now. Very frustrating as only 1lb away from 1.5 stone. It's my official weigh in day tomorrow so am hoping for a whoosh.

Loads of water today Z, that helps a lot I've found. Fingers x'ed for you.
I have to shortly clean this dump of a house and prep a lot of food, I'm copying that idea about pretending I'm a cleaner, who's going to pay me is the question, my standards are high but whether my alter ego cleaner can reach them remains to be seen 😉
