Haha at the bold failures
I run 5 times a week following the BUPA marathon training plan intermediate level; this week I'm running:
60 min speed today
5 easy miles tomorrow
Rest Wed
20 min easy thur plus a 45 min tap dancing class
50 min tempo fri
Pilates Saturday
18 miles Sunday
Next Sunday is my longest long run of 22 miles then the tapering starts so it's all reaching a bit of a peak at the moment
My problem is the nature of my work means I can have a quiet day (like today) but then for the rest of this week I'm out of the house 13 or more hours so fitting in a 20 min run is fine; fitting in a 5 mile run tomorrow means getting up at 6 to run with the dog so I can get back for 7am then have time to cool down, shower & get dressed before getting the DS's up, dressed & fed! I'm constantly 'working backwards' I.e I need to be ready for 7.45am so half hour to get ready, 15 min stretch & cool down, therefore need to be up at 6 to fit it all in! thats what I find hard! But, if I had older children or if my job was more predictable hours i don't feel it would be as hard-it's still a lot of training but it's the other stuff that makes it logistically tricky!
To balance the whinging I have genuinely enjoyed watching my stamina & fitness increase & it's made me really appreciate the HM distance plus it's made me realise that for me, at this stage in my life, a HM is far enough to be a challenge but not so time consuming I have to forfeit a lot of other things!
