Continuing the theme of thread 3 with more cottage cheese chat. I'm very pleased with the lunch I've just had and need to share with you all!

It is based on 'green goddess' salad dressing: I blended cottage cheese with a big handful of herbs (chives, coriander, parsley - I would have liked basil too but didn't have any), a clove of garlic, the juice of half a lemon and plenty of salt and pepper. 20g of protein and really delicious.

Thanks for the new thread! That lunch sounds delicious!

alwaysscared · 19/11/2024 14:26

Or dressing I should say

Darlinghag · 19/11/2024 15:23

I’m gonna look at cottage cheese when I next go to Morrisons. We dont have sainsburys here, and my Tesco only stocks own brand!

Day 2 of jab and again not eaten properly yet! I’m finding it really hard when I am not at home (out with work!) and got my usual routine, I think I might take a look at a weekly calorie approach rather than daily, so I can maybe consider topping up at the weekend. Really don’t want such a high deficit but finding a lower dose isn’t going to cut it for me! We shall see how I go in the next couple of weeks.

Darlinghag · 19/11/2024 15:26

Oh - today I saw two male colleagues (I work in a proper macho stereotypical oblivious to the obvious man environment) who I hadn’t see since the end of June (before MJ and probably around 24lbs heavier) and they both said ‘were you always this short?’ which tickled me as clearly they could tell I have changed but either couldn’t pinpoint how or are too polite to say they noticed I lost weight 😂😂

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 19/11/2024 15:44

Hahaha! I can’t tell you how many comments I have had about shrinking and was I always this short!

alltablenochairs · 19/11/2024 15:49

Totally stupid NSV but since starting MJ and losing 10kg, my glasses seem to be sliding down my face more often. The glasses wearing isn't optional though so might need to investigate a new pair that actually don't slide down and make me look like an old lady peering over the top of their frames.

Blah!

40coats · 19/11/2024 15:52

Thanks for the new thread :)

The look of cottage cheese never made it appeal to me but next time I make crustless quiche I'll try some.
I think though I usually use the lower fat version in my quiche, is there a big difference between that and full fat?

PrincessPeache · 19/11/2024 17:12

Happy with another loss this morning, bringing me from 296lbs to 214.6lbs. I’m doing a countdown to Christmas and seem to be on track for Onederland for Christmas…and maybe even 100lbs loss by NYE!

Did my 7th jab yesterday (3×2.5mg and 4x3.75mg) so 6th weigh day and I've lost a total of 1st 4lb so far. I started at 21st 9lb and I'm really hoping to out of the 20's and maybe down 2st by Christmas

Aliiiii · 19/11/2024 19:16

I'm starting Wegovy on Friday and have 8 stone to lose 🥲🥲
What do you all use to track calories/work out how many you should have?

BM202 · 19/11/2024 19:19

Some great NSV from everyone as well as loses. I’m now 1st down and worn some work dresses this week that I’d written off as having ‘shrunk a bit in the wash’, turns out the dress wasn’t the dress which had changed size 😂 after my slight negative blip I’m feel much more positive about the small loses adding up!

Darlinghag · 19/11/2024 19:21

Welcome @Aliiiii ! Don’t worry I started with 11 to lose! 6-7ish to go!!

i use nutracheck to track calories - it does cost but its cheaper to pay for a year- £28ish.

i googled tdee calculator and input my (honest) details - there will give you your maintenance cals, and you deduct 500 a day to aim for a 1-1.5lb a week, steady and manageable.

nutracheck allows you to set your own calorie goals etc

They sell Longley Farms brand cottage cheese in Morrisons and it's the only one worth buying. Full fat version though not the fat free. It's lovely.

I am 11 jabs into my journey, have lost 2 st 2 lbs and have 3 st 5 lb left to get to the 'ideal' weight for my height according to the online calculators. Not sure I'll go that low as that would be 10st 1 lb and I've never been that light, I was 11 stone at 11 years old so the idea of being a full grown adult weighing less than I did as a primary school child seems a bit weird.

Love the sound of this! Definitely going to try it. I'm just back from the supermarket but had to go to Waitrose so no longley farm (it's Sainsbury's here in my neck of the woods). Bought Waitrose own brand so will report back on how it is

morbidcuriosity · 19/11/2024 21:09

All this cottage cheese talk.. I've never had it before , the look of it turns my stomach. Lol..
But being brave I'm going to buy some and try it. I will go for the brand people have said and see how I do.
What do you all have it with?

peonym · 19/11/2024 21:37

Thanks for new thread - placeholding!

A spoon 🙈 I bloody love it

I like to have it as a side to a bowl of soup when cold (I avoid wheat) & with lots of salad veg chopped & stirred into it when it's milder.

Darlinghag · 20/11/2024 09:37

I use it in scrambled eggs a lot, and mix mine with hot sauce or regular cheese for a baked potato!

RobinEllacotStrike · 20/11/2024 10:44

The Losely Farm PINEAPPLE Full Fat Cottage Cheese - top notch five stars

The Losely Farm CHIVE Fat Free Cottage Cheese - not a fan. I won't buy it again. This is fine with me as I don't usually buy fat free foods anyway.

@morbidcuriosity I like plain cottage cheese with chopped medium boiled eggs added and chilli sauce.

NewbieMJ · 20/11/2024 10:59

@Aliiiii - welcome!

I use Carb Manager which is free - you put in your details and it comes up with your individual requirements and you can track your weight, BMI, etc too (as well as tracking your food intake - if you want to use it for this).

I don't count calories, but use it to keep my carbs very low and ensure I get enough protein and fat..

You'll find this thread so useful - loads of sensible information from people that know how it is to have a lot to lose.

WeeklyJab · 20/11/2024 11:16

Week 7 and I’ve finally passed to 10kg mark.
I was hovering around it for over a fortnight so it’s good to have got through that particular milestone.

I am getting a bit bored of my food - I miss pasta and risotto. Still, needs must.

RobinEllacotStrike · 20/11/2024 11:26

congrats on the 10kg @WeeklyJab

Funny enough I have gone right off carbs on MJ. I'm eating lots of vegetables but pasta and bread etc holds nothing for me anymore.

Have you looked at the "What I have eaten on MJ today" thread - you might get some inspiration for different things to try from there. Some changes or more variety might help.

Would you not have a small portion of pasta or risotto while keeping in calorie deficit?

I am mostly so not bothered about food anymore. I'm still enjoying food when I eat, but I have zero cravings or urges for food. I bought some Tunnocks Teacakes for the school reverse advent and my naughty kids opened a pack (knowing they were for the food bank) and they are sitting there on the bench. Open. Available. Delicious sweet biscuit, marshmello & chocolate. It means nothing to me.

I am still very partial to a pomegranate though.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 20/11/2024 11:28

10kg is great, well done @WeeklyJab! Why no pasta or risotto?
