Just marking my place. First birthday today as a new mummy Grin

JacktheLab · 18/02/2015 13:52

Checking in,

Frenetic have you phoned NCT and la lech league (sp) for help?

donkir · 18/02/2015 13:55

Just checking in

blankfornames · 18/02/2015 13:59

I feel like I'm cheating being on the post natal when Bean is very much still on the inside!

Am 39+6, had sweep and consultant said my cervix is 'suitable'?! Here's hoping!!

Honeybird · 18/02/2015 14:12

Haha suitable cervix, I love it, can't they talk like normal people?

Day 10 here. Mastitis with a small fever this morning. Massage while feeding seems to be helping, not a serious case I think. Nipples are on their way to getting better though...

Memphisbelly · 18/02/2015 14:22

Happy birthday jen!

Those already with babies what is your bleeding like? Mine dropped to pinky discharge very quickly and finding it annoying as its barely there but still needing liner and wokecthis morning to bright red blood again?

Katsand · 18/02/2015 14:22

Grinningcat · 18/02/2015 16:20

Just found out that my local hospital's new midwife led birth centre opened last week. The pictures on their fb page look fab. They only have 4 rooms, but sooo hoping I get one. I am Low risk and Mw led do I'm eligible. I'll share their photos on our fb page incase any one is interested. Fingers crossed.

freneticfox · 18/02/2015 17:01

Oh my gosh, I'm exhausted. A community midwife spent a good while with me this afternoon, listened to all of my concerns and I think she realised how important it was to me that I give this a proper try with the right advice.

After half an hour of the same problems (he latches, sucks once then falls off) we were both getting frustrated and upset. She then asked if I had nipple shields - I do have some medela ones, but the midwives at the hospital told me that they were useless and I shouldn't use them so I popped them in a bag and forgot.

So we sterilised them, popped one on and hey bloody presto. He latched instantly. It took a little while for him to settle into a rhythm but he fed for about 10 mins before sliding off in a dozy haze. I cannot believe it.

Obviously I couldn't insist she stays until his next feed, so I'm on my own, BUT she did tell me about a helpline as well as a daily drop in clinic on breastfeeding at the local hospital. I'm fully prepared to need further support, I know the shields aren't a magic wand, but for the first time in a fair few days I'm feeling a glimmer of hope.

Just thoroughly drained now!

GeekyHybrid · 18/02/2015 17:17

Big cheer for baby fox! Fingers crossed it's the turning of a corner.

blank & grinning you've been with us this long, no way we're splitting the group now!

Murphy's law in action here, LO and I had just gone sparko when we got a visitor! I'm now contemplating the ironing pile which seems to have got stupidly large in 12 days. Ugh Sad

OP posts:
donkir · 18/02/2015 17:22

Yay Frenetic I'm so glad you've found some support. I was using the same shields as ds couldn't latch properly on the left but now 2 and a half weeks in I've just stopped using them.

Has anyone played their bump song to baby yet? I played it this afternoon as lo was so stressed and it chilled him out completely and he went to sleep.

LancashireTea · 18/02/2015 17:57

Blatantly place marking even though I haven't popped yet. 38+4 and 3rd attempt at the sweep was another no go. Cervix is very soft and central but still closed.
However head has dropped 2cm since Monday so the exercises are working a little. Having my induction on Saturday so mw thinks that'll be the end of all this bother. I'm just sick of having to drive to the hospital all the time and spending a fortune on parking. Grrrrr

blankfornames · 18/02/2015 17:58

Ladies, expert advice needed here. I've just had a small 'show'. Wuhhoo for sweep this morning! Should I go to yoga this evening or is it too risky. feel some pressure but feel fine still.

tweety89 · 18/02/2015 17:58

checking in and fingers crossed I'll be officially in this group tomorrow. :)
yay frenetic, well done! :) :)

jenmcspen · 18/02/2015 18:28

Well done frenetic Grin so pleased you have got some RL support with it

Purpletoes · 18/02/2015 18:31

Hi checking in as well. 39+2 today no movement today I think I have resigned myself to induction on Monday if there is a bed.

Frenetic so glad you have had a good experience at last. Hope it continues for you.

I would go to yoga anything to keep the momentum goingWinkWinkWink

loopsyloup · 18/02/2015 18:35

Ooh can I get into the facebook group too?

Feel slightly less fraudulent now we're post natal, those of you still ante will be post before you know it!

Day 13 for me, and touch wood it's all going ok. I'm still having to get the lo to sleep on me or someone else after a feed but she then sleeps ok wherever we put her! And only had about 4 rows with my oh.

Can't remember who said it but don't feel bad about just offering milk whenever they cry - the brilliant book I use as my new baby bible just says that's all they need at this point! The book is 'my baby week by week' and it saved me numerous times with my first, and is fab this time around too. Highly recommend!

Oh and blank yes, go to yoga. Even if it's just to get the Sod's law working - if you cancel any plans then labours almost sure to not start!

longbottom · 18/02/2015 18:46

Marking my place, 39 weeks today, been out all day with a friend, and our 4 kids between us (not including bump) I'm shattered but determined to enjoy every last minute with DD.
Have period type pains but have resigned myself to going over due now, my betting is the 28th feb!

Memphisbelly · 18/02/2015 19:01

Blanks go to yoga it may start you off!
Well done to baby fox lets hope you have cracked it
