I'm still here! Boo!

Veggiemummy · 09/08/2010 11:41

Hellooo I'm here. Thanks Beans, I have to admit to hanging around waiting for someone else to do it. I feel very responsible for babylightenings procrastination due to my last thread title.

On the milky boobs story, Rubs I wouldn't be jealous of the leakage, it's actually quite yukky, I really did not like waking up in a pool of my own milk, so very not rock and roll. I was also not really into the idea of BF before DS1, funny isn't it. However, fast or slow your milk is it's still right for DD Rubs, fast might seem better but it can make babies vomit as it's too much. It works itself out in the end. Make sure your getting enough water too as you need even more when it's warmer.

Well last night DS2 woke a little less often he is still not happy with the no feeds at night but seems to be slowly accepting it. I still can't believe I had a child who slept through & I voluntarily changed him to a wakey baby. Also I'm not sure if it's related but his last three days of daytime naps have gone from 1.5-2 hrs down to just on one hour! I guess it's a good example of if it's not broken don't fix it. All this just to cut out one feed. I'd be useless at weaning onto formula.

SummerLightning · 09/08/2010 11:44

Oh god you lot are all reminding me of the yukky bits of bfing. i quite liked the baby cuddling part of bfing, but the leaking and the sore boobs are just crap!

Veggiemummy · 09/08/2010 11:47

Oh and Beans BF poos are always runny until you introduce solids and can be as infrequent as every 10 days, just watch out when it does come. DS2 once decided that after 9 days of no poo to let it all go in the middle of covent garden when there was no attendant at the toilets near the square so I had to change him on the floor of one of the little cubicles. The nappy was completely brown and all I could do was stuff it into the sanitary bin as there was no nappy bin.

SummerLightning · 09/08/2010 11:50

Oh yes beans we used to have the no poo for ages thing as well. One particularly memorable time when he didn't go for 9 days and DH and I went out for a bike ride while the grandparents babysat, hahahahaha, they caught the bomb!! He had to have a bath and everything.

Midwife just been round to do another sweep. She seems to reckon it might work. Guess what she told me to do....nipple stimulation....hahahaha.

spotofcheerfulness · 09/08/2010 11:52

I'm here! Back later but thanks Beans for new thread.

Veggiemummy · 09/08/2010 11:57

Nipple rolling if you don't mind Lightening.

spotofcheerfulness · 09/08/2010 12:03

And get tweaking, Summer!

Rubena · 09/08/2010 12:11

I remember having the no poo thing with ds when he was about 6 weeks ish and onwards, then the explosions at places where you least need them! Right now I am getting the really runny yello poo after every feed.
Vag - interesting you say that about the hydration. I'm so crap at it. In fact my mil noticed when she was here and said I don't drink enough she thinks, (I beg to differ I had a lovely drop of cheerfulness last night Grin)actually I think she is right as I hate water and I have to remind myself to at least drink squash regularly. I was just on the phone to my mum and she also said the same thing that she had to constantly watch her fluid intake back in the day when she was BF as she was bad at keeping it up. I shall work on that.
I'm not really envying those with fast squirty out flow, I just would like a happy medium - but perhaps more fluid intake will help that.
Nipple tweaking eek - that would do my head in - I wouldn't be able to stand it but I guess you'd try anything at this point hey Summer!
A second sweep?? jeez shouldn't you be off tonight in that case?

Rubena · 09/08/2010 13:16

Right LOADS of baby boy clothes - some hardly worn if anyone wants them? Trouble is, most of the clackereds who don't know sex yet have already had boys so must have clothes already!!!!

Might have to do an Ebay bundle..... Hmm

JumpJockey · 09/08/2010 13:47

Hello new thread! Come on SL get that baby out!

Oh the joys of leaky boobs... I'm loving the completely unrealistic cartoon section on BFing the Bounty "only any use for the free stuff" book - apparently the girl in the story managed to express enough for a full night out after about 3 weeks, and hardly has to worry about leaking as she just "wears a patterned top" Hmm

veggie sorry to hear about the sleep ishoos, sorry I've not really been keeping up but does he take a cup of water or something else when he wakes up? Is it thirstiness because of summer, or does he just want boob?

well we had a weekend of mixed fortunes - I had a nasty bleed on Friday night and got all terrified about the baby after my pal's losing hers. Spent most of the night awake and worrying, but god bless DH and his doctoring, he borrowed the work sonicaid and we were able to find the baby and have a listen and it seemed fine. But I now have a teeny tiny inkling of how scary it must be for ladies who have lost a baby and you have my most enormous sympathy.

Sunday was a lot cheerier, DD's godmother's daughter's 2nd birthday (the miracle baby M who had the heart op) and it was lovely, really good to let the girls get on with playing while we had a catch-up. I made an amazing discovery; in the 6 years that she and her DH have been together, they have never had a takeaway dinner. Shock The closest they get is a frozen pizza once in a while. Not even a chippy supper. Now I'm assuming it's not just me who thinks, hang on, you've cooked dinner from scratch every single day for 6 years? How, exactly?

spotofcheerfulness · 09/08/2010 13:53

Rubs I would be happy to buy the clothes off you for the same price you'd sell them for on ebay - if you can hold on til Friday! I'm 99% sure this one's another boy but need confirmation and I seem to have lent out a whole load of T's clothes than I never saw again so I would be buying them off ebay anyway!

Feeling ropey today, think have a touch of food poisoning from undercooked and old chorizo (not the cured one, the fresh stuff). Am a bit worried about the baby but assume that if I'm feeling a bit sick but not projectile vomming it can't be tooooo bad.

All this talk of newborns is making me quite excited! Apart from the leaky boobs (I was another squirter) and painful nips bit. Am a bit worried about the already parlous state of my pelvic floor, I keep trying to do my PF exercises but still am a bit leaky when I cough or sneeze Blush.

Veg it souds like DS2 is progressing in the right direction, even if he's initially having a bit of a protest! I feel for you though. Anything you do voluntarily that has the side effect of bollocksing up your sleep is pretty galling.

Lady, another one here used to the tutting and eye rolling when T kicks off in public. Glad DD is getting a bit more food down her, sounds like the cruising is burning some calories! Have you had some nice treatments?

spotofcheerfulness · 09/08/2010 13:55

Sorry JJ x-posted. So glad the baby seems ok after the scare, hooray for having a DH in the right profession! How is your friend C?

Oh, and am also Shock about your DD's godmother, that is just weird. Are they superpeople in other ways too?

JumpJockey · 09/08/2010 14:04

Tutting and eye rolling - ah what joy. We were in the library today when dd decided she wanted to run away repeatedly while I tried to find a particular book, this led to meltdown of pretty splendid proportions and lots of people looking round and frowning. I felt like saying "dammit I'm a librarian and if I'm not shushing, you can bog off!"

spot - hope the tum feels better soon. It's probably nowt to worry about as long as you're on the mend. C is being very brave still, spoke to her yesterday and everything happened on Saturday night/Sunday morning, so she didn't have to have surgery but is feeling physically pretty exhausted. She's been seeing the articles in the papers about how it's statistically more ikely to have a successful pregnancy if she gets pregnant agin sooner rather than later, so I think they'll be trying again once she feels up to it.

DD's godmother - well, we did feel a bit pleb-tastic tbh, we also mentioned how dd loves ITNG and they said Oh, we haven't started her viewing yet. She's got two sets of grandparents in very close proximity for daytime entertainment, and a dad who often works from home, so I assume that the "late home from work tea time emergency TV on to stop child yelling" isn't needed that often...!

spotofcheerfulness · 09/08/2010 14:22

Erm, we have two parents working from home and T still watches tv. I have a friend who is also very anti. I, sadly, am too lazy not to.

JumpJockey · 09/08/2010 14:58

Oh well spot, clearly we're dreadful parents! Wink I got a flush of pride the first time Makka Pakka came on and dd made a washing face gesture. She can also go tootlytoot like when he blows his vuvuzela! Grin

Rubena · 09/08/2010 15:26

JJ - glad all ok and well done MrJJ for bringing home the tools to put your mind at ease.
Spot - absolutely not will I accept any for of payment for any such clothes!(except your company in a visit perhaps!)
As soon as we hear on Friday I will be requesting your address if it's another boy! How do you know you are 99%? Did they suspect at your 12 week scan? I was 99.99% this was another boy , but def not - oh and I underestimated the ease of changing a little girl's nappy!! So many nooks and crannies I forgot we had Hmm
I am going to ask the Health Visitor tomorrow about ds's lack of vocab. he still does way too much grunting and pointing, and has only once put 2 words together which was yesterday he said "no don't" when I wanted him to keep eating. Otherwise it's just a very small handful of words used singularly. he is also starting to go backwards with his feeding himself skills and or is becoming lazy and holds his mouth open wanting bits of fruit deposited in there for him - same with his cup - wanting us to hold it to his mouth when he used to hold it himself. Think I'll just be leaving it in front of him from now.....

EffiePerine · 09/08/2010 16:11

Rubes: it's really common for kids to 'regress' when z new sib comes along. They realise they want to be babies again! Lots of attention and praise for the 'big boy' stuff helped with DS1, bur he was a little older. I seem to remember the advice was to go with it and not make a fuss, as they'll get bored eventually!

EffiePerine · 09/08/2010 16:14

A new sibling! Phone not dodgy French accent...

Veggiemummy · 09/08/2010 17:29

Ja ja zat iss right wat Effie zez about ze regreshon.

JJ I'm sorry but there is something very wrong with your friends. My Friday night Indonesian is the highlight of my week! Only 4 more sleeps. And I'm with spot with the tele I'm a SAHM and DH works from home a lot and we have started DS2's 'viewing' already...like just shy of 20 months ago.
