My second thread. The first is awaiting deletion due to details that were in the thread.

Basically, my brother is in intensive care with multiple stab wounds, he is stable, but critical. So he could go either way.

At the moment it doesn't feel real to me, I feel like I'm in a soap or something! It's very surreal

Didn't see original thread but so sorry you're going through what sounds like a nightmare. I hope you've got friends and family around to offer support?

Yes I'm at home with DP. My mum is at the hospital with him now, he's just had a tracheostomy to help him breathe a bit better and to hopefully help him to get off the ventilator quicker.

I have to go soon but I will check in to see if all is well when I can. Do you want to talk about it - or is it too sensitive? Sounds bloody harrowing. Thank God he survived. It sounds as if someone meant to kill him.

Santa someone did try to kill him I can't go into details because of the police involvement. His injuries are horrrific.

I don't mind talking about it, it helps it seem more real, if that makes sense?

Have a cup of tea and cuddle your DH. seriously be kind to yourself.

Would it be a good idea to take some bits to your mum to ease her comfort, change of clothes?

I hope the scum that did this are now in custody.

My mum is being taken care of, various family members have been back and forth all day with bits and pieces for her.

I'm not sure how much I can talk about. It's in local news with names and everything so it's hard to say what I can and can't tell you. It would help if we'd been told exactly what we can and can't say.

Hold onto the fact that intensive care is a marvellous place, the staff and the things that they can do are brilliant, they made me feel safe even when critically ill, they will make your brother feel safe too.

Thank you Canute, the ICU where he is is excellent, so I keep being told by various people. He has his own nurse and both times I've seen him there is someone sat watching him.
