THE BREXIT FALLOUT CONTINUES - THREAD NINE

The Tories have settled their scores and May is now PM.
Is it May's Day or May Day for the people?

After careful consideration I thought the best way to sum up the Labour Contest was in one simple picture. May Day, might also be appropriate here too.

Things are moving fast, so hold on tight for the Brexit Ride

What a roller coaster ride! Thanks Red

Ok, so Boris was maybe as a nod to the Brexiters but then again he wasn't a convinced Brexiter, he was only there for the job, so maybe that Brexit won't happen after all.

Evening - speed scrolled through other thread placemarking really

TheBathroomSink Wed 13-Jul-16 20:03:55

Only one female so far? That's sure to be commented on

officerhinrika Wed 13-Jul-16 20:08:18

All I did was take an hour out to watch the Tour highlights and she bloody well appoints Johnson. Gaffe prone, flag waving what could possibly go wrong?
How much input would Foreign Secretary have to negotiations to replace the European relationships? Actually I'm sure that's already been covered, maybe it's a sort of punishment fatigue for him ( hopeful).

Foreign Secretary @BorisJohnson upset Palestinian hosts on a visit. He called boycott of Israeli goods 'crazy'

Not enough women so far...makes me concerned that Nicky Morgan may resurface.

squoosh Wed 13-Jul-16 20:10:48

Someone phone Mensch and check she's okay. I worry if she hasn't tweeted in 30 seconds.

RedToothBrush Wed 13-Jul-16 20:10:55

Gaby Hinsliff @gabyhinsliff
Actually, Boris To FCO not so mad. Brexit dept will do heavy lifting, no 10 takes over foreign policy in a crisis. What's left is showbiz

GingerIvy Wed 13-Jul-16 20:11:01

I'll take Justine over Nicky any day - even if JG annoys me. hahahaha Someone new to loathe, thank you very much.

SugarPlumTree Wed 13-Jul-16 20:11:08

Thank you Red.

squoosh Wed 13-Jul-16 20:11:24

Love the image that accompanies the thread opener! grin

I am assuming BJ will be backed up by some serious junior talent and a lot of civil servant wranglers to limit his opportunity to fuck up on a global scale, in the hopes he'll get bored and go back to writing columns?

HesterThrale Wed 13-Jul-16 20:12:11

Boris foreign sec! Omg no. We'll be the laughing stock of the world. What's she thinking? 😠

RedToothBrush Wed 13-Jul-16 20:12:49

My thought exactly. Brexiter in big job, but not the Brexit job. Will keep him busy and abroad. Harder to plot.

Evil Genius move by May? Or Disaster in waiting?

Our newly minted Brexit minister kindly laid out his entire negotiation strategy for us to admire.

To think, Britain's new Foreign Secretary will have to deal with not just part-Kenyans but whole Kenyans....

Is she trying to educate Boris?!

TheBathroomSink Wed 13-Jul-16 20:13:47

Mensch's head when Boris got FS.

(In my dream world)

annandale Wed 13-Jul-16 20:14:03

I presume the Permanent Secretary at the FO is a serious heavyweight?

Preferably so much so that they can sit on Boris on a regular basis?

Far too early to say but how much of the FCO will there be left to run when this is done?

hmmm

annandale Wed 13-Jul-16 20:14:50

So what is Amber Rudd like then? Embarrassed to realise I haven't a clue.

TheBathroomSink Wed 13-Jul-16 20:15:20

annandale - is going to need to be Eric Pickles!

GingerIvy Wed 13-Jul-16 20:15:32

Me either. It's a name I've heard, but not familiar with her at all.
