Recipe of the week

penguinmum's creamy fish pie: smoky, seasonal fish in a creamy white sauce with grated, rather than mashed, tatties on top - a meal of the highest comfort-food order.

Actually now I feel guilty using up the last post of the thread - hope this will do as a continuation blush
Hi everyone,
sitting here watching a film all on my tod, DP at work DS snoring.

Bluebell congratulations, what lovely news!

Tetley, not sure about the saddle either, but what the hell, if it works... thinks...I wonder who would be wearing the saddle...hmm...oh well better not ask. [slopes off]

Mabh is it OK where you are? It has been all over the news, the flooding and the aerial shots of the broken bridge, just completely collapsed. Very scary.

'pipe' hmm so that's what he's doing wink.

gumblossom kiwi not good news about the sick toddlers. Glad to hear they're a bit better!

frosticle lol at the extended troops analogy! ref. weather. I live in the Lakes. We now have far more lakes that we can cope with, in shops, houses, road... bridges washed away. Eeek. I'd say thank heavens I live up a hill, but my heart goes out to those at the bottom of it. Seriously not funny.

Evening all, I've also been looking after a poorly LO, but he seems better now. DH is a firm believer in the 'clearing the pipes' theory - love the phrase! Hope you're all doing well.

Hi all. Just resurfacing after 4 days in the trenches with sick toddler...oh boy, poor little thing was so listless and sad.He obviously felt really awful and just wanted total cuddles.I did almost nothing but sit in a chair and cuddle him. He won't take oral panadol, so had to use suppositries, so every time we approached the change table he would start screaming...blimey, I am glad he's feeling better.

It has meant that he hasn't been eating, and has been breastfeeding like a newborn...around the clock. He even got quite cross with the boobies, squeezing and pulling, probably because there wasn't enough milk!!

My poor Dh saw the bank statement yesterday and mentioned something about a heart attack, so it's probably just as well that I am not actually pregnant.Might just be the straw that broke the camel's back...However, the love and care everyone showered on DS while he was sick shows how loved he is and I know another would be equally so.

Anyway that's in the hands of fate/God/the universe/my hormones....

As for sperm quality...as a reversal patient, my Dh was told to "clear the pipes" every other day to get the numbers up, but when going for a sample to abstain for three days to get the possible result, but abstaining for longer than 5 days can have the opposite effect.
At first I thought it meant I would have to bd every other day (I can tell you it became a bit tedious!), but a bit of self-shaggingwink was okay and my DH seems happy enough to oblige!

Is the weather bad?? Not noticed anything here - seems quiet and calm outside. Hope you're all OK in other parts of the country.

mabh think you're right re the thyroid. Never mind - I like the suggestion re jumping about! smile And at least I can jump - my sister has MS and can't jump at all anymore whereas I have a lot to be grateful for. A sluggish thyroid is nothing in the great scheme of things.

tfls - re the sperm quality thing, from what I've read, I think its OK (and probably much better) to BD every day if the sperm quality is good. However if the sperm quality is low, you are better to do it every other day to allow "the troops" (I love the analogy!) to regroup, train the new recruits etc. Also, if sperm quality is low, you want to allow time for the first batallion to clear out th battle ground before sending the second batallion in otherwise they'll have a much harder job making their way through to the front.

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
