Ok, so maybe I know IABU

BUT I am mortified.

I've had some gynae issues recently and the side effect of the issues and meds has been a slight tummy upset

DP and I have recently started living together (about a couple months ago) and so far it's been smooth sailing.

Unfortunately, last night I farted in my sleep. I think it was loud too!!!Blush

I was semi- sleeping so kinda woke up and DP just giggled and patted my head.

We even had sex this morning- neither of us brought it up and he hasn't said anything:

But I'm still mortified and can't stop thinking about it.
He did ask me casually if I had left my phone on because a noise woke him up.

What if the noise was my fart?! How horrifying would that be! I farted loud enough to wake my bf up. Kill me now

Congrats, the first fart is out of the way now and you no longer have to worry about it!

If he giggled and patted your head he's obviously not bothered so don't give it another thought.

This wouldn't bother me at all. He didn't care - it's not a big thing is it? Everyone does it. You've got the first one out of the way so bonus Grin

He's obviously not bothered, I know it's embarrassing but it's nothing really, don't worry!

He didn't seem upset so I wouldn't worry.

Oh bless you, I can tell it's a new relationship.
Give it another couple of months and you honestly won't even care. I used to be ashamed too, but it's natural, you didn't do it on purpose.
If it helps, I got over the embarresment by blaming an imaginary duck (or frog if I burped), or whichever cat was walking by. By making it a joke and laughing it off, it helped it become an 'our joke' kind of thing.

At some point you know, he's going to realise that you poop too...

Of course he's not offended! He probably giggled as he knows you are human and you must have been trying so hard at clenching them all in so he believes you don't fart. But you do! We all do! No one likes the person they are living with to do it on purpose but it happens.

gamerchick · 09/05/2016 12:41

Ah he won't have given it a second thought. Let it go.

He farts as well you know Wink

Yes, we always blame the cat too.

Oh God OP...you MUST get over this. You can't ever have really good sex with someone until they've heard you do that.

You need to be FREE! It's natural and you should move on.

You should have given him a Dutch oven Grin

Err you live with him but a fart makes you feel like this?

Give it a few weeks and you'll be wrapping your bum cheeks around his thigh and letting a big one rattle out.

Humans are funny...its acceptable to let someone stick their bits in your bits but we get embarrassed about a fart!

I remember being mortified when I first farted in front of my DH, we were teens at the time though.

Fast forward 20 years and he's seen me have to get my poo 'manually extracted' ShockGrin whilst 20 weeks pregnant! (Side effect from hyperemesis medication)

It's ok to be embarrassed, you won't feel like this forever though Smile

Omg Apple that is GROSS!!Shock

OP, I've been with dh over 25 years and I don't make a habit of it but I'd just smile and carry on if I did!Grin

My boyfriend and I fart in front of each other all the time, It's no big deal and often funny! In fact I'm so comfortable doing it I sometimes worry if I've done it around other people without noticing Shock Grin

Does he fart in front of you?

It really is ok to fart in front of the person you love, it's a normal bodily function, everyone does it.

Always much easier once that first fart is out of the way!

I have coeliac disease and so sometimes, if I've accidentally consumed gluten, my farts smell like death - when that happens I like to waft it into OH's face Grin

DH is a professional farter. No idea how he kept it hidden for the 'honeymoon' period, our first 4 weeks dating. He still goes on about the time I puffed against his thigh in the middle of the night. ONCE. He now knows you're human.

I used to be embarrassed but since childbirth I don't care.

Once you've hysterically asked someone to check if you're pooing then anything goes.

Don't fret about it. Farts are perfectly normal. Dh is lucky I told him to move his hand yesterday-he was squeezing my bum and I needed to fart Grin

I've never farted in front of DH in all the years we've known each other, however he did recently walk into the bedroom after I'd let off and he laughed hysterically, told me it was "fucking stinking" and ruffled my hair while I willed the ground to swallow me

I feel we're closer than ever now BlushGrin

This reminds me of a poster who said she'd seriously consider divorcing her DH if he ever farted infront of her Grin

Now i don't fart openly in front of DH. If one slips out then so be it, and he'll feign disgust and we'll laugh, but if i can keep it quiet i do.

No idea why - i've given birth in front of him with all that entails with no worries at all - but i just like to kid myself feel i'm retaining a bit of poise and beguiling feminine mystery by keeping my farts to myself Grin

After 6 years with my partner I can remember about 5 times I have farted in front of him Blush each one is mortifying. Lucky I am not a windy person, I dont think I could ever get to that stage of comfort. I have given birth in front of him, but farting is just taking it too far!

Report
ShatnersBassoon · 09/05/2016 13:11

He hasn't mentioned it because it's a complete non-event. Why do you think he'd care?
