To think that Islamic state will cause world war 3

ReallyTired · 16/02/2015 17:13

I feel terrified for the future. I believe that the world will reach a point where there will be outright war to stop Islamic state. In the meantime Russia will annexe the Ukraine and much of Eastern Europe.

I am scared that Islamic state will get hold of atomic weapons. There are Muslim extremists with the intelligence to make a nuclear bomb. There are Muslim countries with uranium deposits.

I think the USA will cause WW3, either through Russia or IS/the Middle East.

hijk · 16/02/2015 17:17

I don't think either, we lived through the cold war, remember.

NimpyWWindowmash · 16/02/2015 17:19

OP, yes. Scary shit.

TwoLeftSocks · 16/02/2015 17:20

I'm getting the feeling we're heading for a bit of a pretty fucked up situation somehow or other.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 16/02/2015 17:22

I am worried about IS, but I'm not convinced they have the backing to start WW3.

Yes, there are many "Muslim countries" with the ability to cause a lot of damage - but are they necessarily supporting IS?

WW3 (I am still hopeful it will never happen), could well have something to do with the Middle East. But more likely to do with oil than a bunch of extremists.

But then, what do I know?

WiltsWonder15 · 16/02/2015 17:22

If it was just 'Islamic State' I wouldn't worry because they are 'over there'.

However, it is the potential 'enemy within' that causes me greater concern.

The peaceful majority of Muslims in this country, indeed, worldwide, are irrelevant. It is the minority that seek to impose sharia upon us that worry me.

The recent deaths in Sydney, Paris and Copenhagen are bad enough but it is the reaction to them that shows how what was once considered the 'traditional West' is losing this battle.

Halal food in Pizza Express and Subway; pork withdrawn from school meals; segregated swimming sessions - these are but the minor symptoms of a loss of identity and courage.

It's quite simple - if you want the freedom to practise your religion, that comes with the freedom for others to criticise, ridicule, mock, insult and vilify said religion. Otherwise, go elsewhere.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 16/02/2015 17:23

You are right there is some scary shit going on in the world just now though.

WiltsWonder15 · 16/02/2015 17:25

The peaceful majority were irrelevant:

Great speech by Brigitte Gabriel: "There are 1.2 billion Muslims in the world today. Of course not all of them are radicals! The majority of them are peaceful people. The radicals are estimated to be between 15 to 25 percent, according to all intelligence services around the world. That leaves 75 percent of them peaceful people. But when you look at 15 to 25 percent of the world's Muslim population, you're looking at 180 million to 300 million people dedicated to the destruction of Western civilization. That is as big [as] the United States. So why should we worry about the radical 15 to 25 percent? Because it is the radicals that kill. Because it is the radicals that behead and massacre. When you look throughout history, when you look at all the lessons of history, most Germans were peaceful. Yet, the Nazis drove the agenda and, as a result, 60 million people died. Almost 14 million in concentration camps; 6 million were Jews. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. When you look at Russia, most Russians were peaceful as well. Yet, the Russians were able to kill 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. When you look at China, for example, most Chinese were peaceful as well. Yet, the Chinese were able to kill 70 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. When you look at Japan prior to World War II, most Japanese were peaceful as well. Yet, Japan was able to butcher its way across the Southeast Asia, killing 12 million people, mostly killed with bayonets and shovels. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. On Sept. 11 in the United States, we had 2.3 million Arab Muslims living in the United States. It took 19 hijackers, 19 radicals, to bring America down to its knees, destroy the World Trade Center, attack the Pentagon and kill almost 3,000 Americans that day. The peaceful majority were irrelevant."

Agree with Wilts

Fatstacks · 16/02/2015 17:26

IS have played their hand well.
Using social media, recruiting hard etc but they don't have the hardware to really tie up western armies.
The trouble is whatever reaction they provoke it enflames things even more.

Tricky situation.

Rosa · 16/02/2015 17:26

I just hope that the powers that be are doing a heck of a lot more that is being reported.
In Italy it is major headlines that 100 Italians in Libia were evacuated by boat yesterday after ISIS had taken Surt ( or so it was reported) . Also according to the news they said they were coming for Rome on the latest video. So obviously Italy is now reporting this and frankly scaring the heck out of anyone who reads/ watches the news
Now seeing as there has been no mention on the BBC , Sky, Telegraph and Guardian and Al Jazeera... I am wondering and obviously Confused

KnittedJimmyChoos · 16/02/2015 17:26

Yes I think we are heading for an impossibly complicated situation because there is no tangible enemy - its without and within.

The ideology they base their acts on, is widely open to interpretation and its obviously not so clear cut to openly dispute. YES Muslims condemn it, however its clearly open to interpretation for the evil ones purposes.

Its an enemy of the likes we have never faced before so its unprecedented situation.

PtolemysNeedle · 16/02/2015 17:27

The potential is there, but is don't think it's right to complain about Muslim countries having nuclear weapons when we condone Christian or western countries having them.

hijk · 16/02/2015 17:28

I think Islamic state are in their death throes.

What makes you think that hijk? So hope you're right...

MalibuStacy · 16/02/2015 17:36

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Actually, I think we should consider declaring war on ISIS, or whatever they're calling themselves these days. There is grounds for a world war as far as I'm concerned, although not a geographical one which makes it a lot more complicated.

ReallyTired · 16/02/2015 17:36

Islamic state has nothing to do with Islam. Muslim countries have as much to fear as anyone. I think Rome pretty safe, but Silcy, Malta, Cyprus, parts of Spain are in danger.

However brown lives are as precious as white lives. What is happening with Boko Harem is scary as well.

Yet another excuse to bash Muslims. On the day when two Arab countries have conducted air strikes on IS targets. One, Egypt, is a predominantly Muslim state, but they are united together against the horrific murders on Egyptian Christians. The other, Jordan, is taking action after the appalling murder of a muslim pilot because IS doesn't give a fuck what religion you are because they are so far removed from any recognisable religion. But yes, let's have a go at Muslims everywhere. Unfucking believable

MalibuStacy · 16/02/2015 17:39

Wow, that really sums it up. Thanks for posting WiltsWonder15.

SirChenjin · 16/02/2015 17:39

Oh fuck off with your Muslim bashing. The only bashing that's going on here is the fully justified bashing of ISIS - which has nothing to do with true Islam.

ReallyTired · 16/02/2015 17:39

Pakistan is an Islamic country with Nukes. Lots of Muslim have the engineering skill to make a nuke. Pakistan has its only struggles with the Taliban.

OP posts:
MalibuStacy · 16/02/2015 17:41

I don't think anyone's doing that, lem73. It does seem that whenever there is a discussion about Islamic extremists, some people are very quick to call it 'Muslim bashing' or whatever. It isn't.

sockmatcher · 16/02/2015 17:41

Can someone bring me up to speed? I've been avoiding news as children pick up on it.

OTheHugeManatee · 16/02/2015 17:41

World War 3 is more likely to kick off in the Ukraine.

YANBU though in the sense that IS' particular brand of Islam flavoured fascism is pretty disturbing and dangerous.
