To think DH only very very slightly U for buying another BMW because our neighbour told him he was too common to own a BMW?

I'm wondering where you live that your neighbour thinks BMW arent common? confused

HecatePropylaea Sat 10-May-14 16:37:02

Thats a very expensive 'screw you'

He could have saved ££££££££ by mooning the neighbour and giving him the finger grin

<stealth boast> grin

CoteDAzur Sat 10-May-14 16:37:59

Here, have a medal biscuit

Pipbin Sat 10-May-14 16:39:15

I think boasting about it on MN is common. grin

But in all honesty I don't think there is anything classy about owning a BMW. In my very very honest opinion I think they are really rather common.

Will ask DH to moon next time and give me the money for a holiday grin

NinetyNinePercentTroll Sat 10-May-14 16:40:38

Weird thread.

Sneezecakesmum Sat 10-May-14 16:41:23

I know they are common, as in lots of them, but also rather nice to drive and expensive.

Can you direct some of the ire at a neighbour who would tell your husband to his face he is too common to be driving a nice car?

cafebistro Sat 10-May-14 16:41:25

I wasn't aware that BMW's are considered 'posh' . I would have thought quite the opposite tbh.

Only1scoop Sat 10-May-14 16:41:51

"Our neighbour told him he...." What??

Likes hairdresser cars smile

CouldBeBusier Sat 10-May-14 16:41:56

Ain't nothing stealthy about it, as boasts go.
Everyone involved IBU.

Sneezecakesmum Sat 10-May-14 16:42:07

AIBU is always a weird thread. Where have you been?

Branleuse Sat 10-May-14 16:43:40

you talk to the neighbours AND think bmws are posh??

are you northern?

Sneezecakesmum Sat 10-May-14 16:44:08

DH and neighbour both v U. Me, I'm not involved!

Tbh. I think the sports car thing is just a boys toy thing and the neighbour was incidental, but it definitely rankled with him!

JessicaMary Sat 10-May-14 16:44:10

If he like them let him buy them. Anyone polite woudl not point out what they tend to indicate (rather common etc, nouveau riche). It's his money to spend as he wants. I want more female mumsnetters to earn a fortune and buy their own cars.

HecatePropylaea Sat 10-May-14 16:44:11

I once bought a bag because the stall holder did a head tilt at me and whispered that it was quite expensive.
I was all 'how very dare she'

not quite in the same league of course grin

Somepercentagenotcool Sat 10-May-14 16:44:24

BMWs are the very epitome of common to me (and I don't mean lots of them).

Sneezecakesmum Sat 10-May-14 16:44:32

Nope totally southern, so is DH!

Well we have a Honda Civic Type R, a push bike and a micro scooter. I think our modes of transportation are infinitely more superior

wink

Somepercentagenotcool Sat 10-May-14 16:45:42

Having said that I would rather love a Z4 - common as muck, me!

Drug dealers don't even drive them any more because they are too common. That's common.

teaandthorazine Sat 10-May-14 16:46:50

BMWs are common, and convertible BMWs are really common. Is it white, by any chance?

Sneezecakesmum Sat 10-May-14 16:47:47

I did buy my own little car. And to me it's just an A to B thing.

Never understood the car thing. Neighbour is so up herself it's a bit irritating but I just thought it was funny!
