AIBU?

To think friends dp is the weird one not mine! (Tampons)

Friend was at mine this morning for a cuppa gossip and my dp had popped to tesco for bits and bobs. When he came back he had got me the razor blades i had asked him to get and said 'i had a wander down that aisle and tampax were on offer so i got you 2boxes of yellows'

Nothing odd in this i dont think?

Friend was in shock! Apparently her dp refuses to buy them, thinks it is a 'private' thing and doesnt want to be seen dead within 10yards of a tampon basically... She went on about how fab and modern my dp is, how lucky i am etc. isnt it amazing how he buys the right ones etc etc.

Aibu to think that dp is not weird, and hers has very strange views??

YANBU. DH would usually pick them up for me before I switched to washables. It didn't bother him at all. He wouldn't think to get them unless I asked but he had no problem getting them.

My DP would try but would panic at the huge selection.

He'd then phone me and I'd have to talk him through it.

But at least he'd try.

:)

Her DP is odd.

You're friend is weird and so is her DP.

I expect he buys condoms online

Her DP is very odd, how sad for her.

I hope she never buys him anything 'private' like pants or loo roll.

(My dad is like this, though, and was shocked to discover that in our house we have tampax in an actual box in the bathroom, as my mum hides hers in her knicker drawer. Confused)

Is her DP aged 72 or something?

I don't think many men are fazed by sanpro these days.

I think panicking at the selection is normal, though. I wouldn't know what to buy someone else either.

Dh would if I asked but wouldn't look otherwise.

My dh would. Having said that I don't have periods as I have the mirena coil but he did used to buy them.

Her DP is strange! I wonder what his parents relationship was like...?

DP doesn't like period stuff but would get them if I asked. Your DP sounds brill!

Same as MrsRajesh here - mine would panic a bit at the range and I doubt has ever registered what brand/size etc I use, but would be more than happy to buy some if asked.

I think dp is attracted to bargains tbh, he is like a moth to a flame, but with £1 stickers :) he also has 2 sisters so hes not bothered about periods etc.
mrsrajesh thats why we go by colour :) he knows 'tampax yellows' lol

I think to me tampax are no different to razors/shampoo etc, its all just 'bathroom' stuff in my head. Its not something shameful, we all get them!

Dh quite happy to buy sanpro - not sure he would think to do it off his own bat but if asked it's no biggie.

DH often buys mine, but only when I ask him to. Your friends husband is odd.

How sad that a grown man can be so repressed, and your friend thinks it's normal.

Definitely a bit strange. DP would do the panic thing, and wouldn't think to get me them unless i asked but when I was in hospital after having DS, he actually did a better job at finding maternity pads, knickers etc than I did lol

Yours is normal, hers has some weird psycho-sexual complex. Does he consider her vagina so private he never ventures near it???

StuckOnARollercoaster · 02/08/2013 13:01

YANBU your dp is perfectly normal

Mine is like mrsrajesh's - no problem doing it but wouldneed to be guided through the process if i'm not with him...

YANBU. My Dh wouldn't buy them unexpectedly, but if I put them on the shopping list then he buys them, no problem. He tries not to be hanging around in that aisle for too long, but only because he worries it will put off women who may feel uncomfortable about him being there, rather than that there's anything odd in him picking them up.

Her dp sounds like mine, not sure I'd feel comfortable if he was like yours.
entirely my freaky hang up I know!

does she have children? all that sort of shyness disappeared when DH had to buy enormous sanitary towels after DS1 was born. Now it wouldn't bother him at all although he wouldn't do it unless I asked him specifically
