Hi @Mumtobabyhavoc - thanks for new thread. I’ve just posted the last post on the old thread.

WinterLobelia · 31/08/2024 11:20

Yay new thread!!

Will check back in later. Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc Smile

WinterLobelia · 31/08/2024 11:22

Waves to everyone.

Aria999 · 31/08/2024 13:45

Hi all!

I actually took some baby steps to start the cellar clear out on Thursday.

I have ordered a new storage unit and some more boxes which I normally do early on in any clearout as it makes me feel like I have achieved something and is more fun than actually clearing stuff out 😁

Yesterday was a wash out, I was going to have a relaxing day but ended up panic fixing a work error.

Won't get anything done till Tuesday now as the presence of the kids makes achieving anything mostly impossible...

WinterLobelia · 01/09/2024 07:21

have a good week @Aria999 . Hope the work panic eased!

Today I need to clear out the fishpond as the water plants have grown immensely in the past 2 weeks. That is about a 30 minute job.

I also have to write down a list of all the bills I need to pay tomorrow morning once my pay comes into the bank. It's alot this month!

Hope everyone has a great day!

petalpower · 01/09/2024 09:00

Thanks for the new thread @Mumtobabyhavoc ! I’m back from two weeks looking after my dad and stepmother (managed a brief trip home overnight in the middle) which was pretty full on. There are a lot of health issues going on there so many things to juggle. Anyway, I’m back now and really needing to get back on top of things at home. It was so nice to have a night in my own bed! Adult DS and DD have done a good job of looking after the house in my absence (DH and petal dog came for the second week) but there’s still so much to catch up on. I need to go back and read what you’ve all been up to as well. Have a great day all.

RunningKatie · 01/09/2024 17:47

Sunday eve, I'm off work with the dc for 2 more days.
Today we've been so busy, tip run, things into the loft, spare room rearranged, dh work chair in car ready to go to office.
DH has also done lots of gardening, I've been cleaning bathrooms and clearing randomly dumped things.
Hairdresser coming tomorrow so kitchen needs cleaning in the morning, and I'd like to deal with the paperwork that's built over the summer.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/09/2024 21:22

Katie, hope you get some down time.

I got rid of some recycling, put laundry away and washed and hung another load then ploughed through a good bit of paper mail, filing some and tossing some.

Morning all!

I woke up filled with beans this morning.

I have used up a bag of peppers and tomatoes and am making a pasta sauce base.

I have done a load of washing.

I have cleaned the kitchen.

I have made all the beds.

I am about to take Ds1 to the dentist.

I need to pick up medication from two different phamacies a decent drive from each other.

I have a job interview scheduled for 'sometime after 10 am'.

Hope everyone has a good day!

petalpower · 02/09/2024 11:59

Good luck for the job interview @WinterLobelia !

RunningKatie · 02/09/2024 12:13

Hope the interview goes well @WinterLobelia

Feels super autumnal today, foggy and grey. We've been out for brunch, DC2 has had an asthma review and I've done a quick tidy of downstairs so vaguely hairdresser clean and ready.

Planning to carry on tidying up and maybe playing some games today & tomorrow. Then school starts again, and the house will be quiet. It'll be so strange.

WinterLobelia · 02/09/2024 14:19

Thanks! I got the job, if I want it. It's only a 3 month thing to set up a new project for a well-respected charity. They asked me to be full time forever, but I said i could only commit to 3 months and then we will talk. I've had too much experience being locked into things so I want to be more circumspect and make sure it's right for me. They are on probation according to my timetable. Grin.

But I feel good about it and treated the Dcs and I to chocolate cake with hot fudge sauce at our local cafe.

Peridot1 · 02/09/2024 15:03

You are super productive today @WinterLobelia! Congrats on the job!

After a lovely day here yesterday it is grey and grim today. I’m trying to motivate myself to go for a walk. However reading my book might win!

I have done some bits and pieces. Finished washing the spare room bedding. Changed and washed towels from upstairs bathrooms. Did dishwasher and kitchen. Did a bit of a list for DH’s online shopping order based on some new things I want to cook. Put a load of laundry away. Reminded DS about sorting his washing and it prompted him to clear all the rubbish from his room too. I then had to help him pack up some clothes to return. Have a DS wash load on. Then DS said there were some bugs on the ceiling in his bathroom. Turned out to be lots of baby spiders. Which I hope I have despatched!

Tomorrow I will do a proper list.

petalpower · 02/09/2024 18:45

Congratulations on the new job @WinterLobelia !

WinterLobelia · 02/09/2024 18:55

Thanks! I am quite pleased. I have been looking for a change of direction and have been doing various bits of volunteer work in the sector I wish to after hours for a bit.

I'm not sure this is 100% right, but it is a step in the right direction.

Aria999 · 02/09/2024 23:12

Awesome @WinterLobelia sounds really interesting! When do you start? (If you're taking it)

WinterLobelia · 03/09/2024 07:38

Thanks so much. :) I am having some wibbles today now about it. Well, anything new is scary. I hope to pin down things by the end of the week and figure out starting dates etc.

I have not worked full time for a while now as Ds1s needs have been pretty intense, so I am worrying about that too. But it will be fine- and I've already put a potential time limit on it so if it does not work I can exit stage left. Grin

Today I am taking Dcs for their haircuts (kicking and screaming) and I really need to make sure thei school shoes fit.... that has been a MASSIVE oversight on my part. School tomorrow. Blush

Hope everyone has a lovely day. Thanks

RunningKatie · 03/09/2024 08:26

Dc2 only tried on their school trousers yesterday for starting tomorrow. On Sunday eve I realised that just because they fitted in June didn't mean they still fit. Whoops.
Plus the hairdresser didn't show for the pre school haircuts so that's less than ideal.
Congrats on the job @WinterLobelia - having a wibble is perfectly normal, it sounds like you've been juggling a lot, but you've got a clear exit plan if you need it too.
Today I'm declaring a PJs at home day, as long as faces and teeth are done then I'm happy. I'm got a wash on, going to continue paperwork sorting, need to straighten the spare room and order a new ironing board. I'm also going to listen to a podcast and do my jigsaw for some downtime, back to work tomorrow and I don't feel zen.

WinterLobelia · 03/09/2024 08:32

Pjs at home day sounds like a great idea. :)

WinterLobelia · 03/09/2024 08:39

Yes an exit plan makes me feel better. I've volunteered for this organisation before which is why they knew about me. They also thankfully know about my situation re DS which is why they were okay with me saying '3 months and then we will see'. So I've been really lucky. And I know (and like!) the team already so my wibbles are silly really.

Hopefully it will work out and it's a new career step!

Thanks everyone for the good wishes, I SO appreciate it. Smile

I think I need to get the Dcs fully dressed today in their uniforms to double check........ I'd like to say I am usually better organised- but I'm not tbf.

I hope your return to work goes well tomorrow @RunningKatie

Peridot1 · 03/09/2024 12:49

It sounds like an ideal opportunity @WinterLobelia. Having an exit plan is great.

@RunningKatie - a pjs day sounds perfect.

I so don’t miss the whole back to school preparations! And I only had one DC.

I’ve had a bit of a wasted morning. Had a HydraFacial booked and went along completely forgetting I have a cold sore and of course the therapist had to say she couldn’t do it. Such a numpty! I’ve no idea what I was thinking.

I have done some washing. Emptied and washed out the recycling bin.

This afternoon I need to get DS to do some clearing out of stuff in his room and bathroom. And change his bed. Trying to gradually get him to do more but it’s not easy. However he has just made himself nachos for lunch so that’s an improvement!

sortmyselfoutagain · 03/09/2024 18:22

Hello, I've found you all! The beginning of September has given me a bit of a kick up the bum to get things organised. I fell off the last thread (after about 2 posts!) and I'm still in exactly the same position as I was back then. This time though I am all about doing one thing at a time and not putting too much pressure on myself. Today's task is to start the process of getting rid of my wedding dress. I'm planning on putting it on Vinted for free as it's been altered and I've also not had it dried cleaned. It's a beauty and I really hope someone can get the use out it and then pass it onto someone else.

I hope everyone is well!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/09/2024 18:30

Nice to see you back @sortmyselfoutagain 😊

sortmyselfoutagain · 04/09/2024 04:23

Thank you @Mumtobabyhavoc
I've been sleeping terribly for the last few weeks since starting new medication. This morning I tossed and turned for over an hour before getting up at 2:30am. I've been for a shower and washed my hair and got my list ready for the day so at least it's been productive.
My wedding dress was snapped up within 3 minutes of going on Vinted. The woman sent a lovely message and seems thrilled with it so although I'm sad to see it go I'm pleased it's off to a good home and I've got a little bit more space in the loft.
Today's 'one job' is to go through all documents I have stored on Google Docs and delete the ones I don't need. This is where I store all my lists and goes back years so looking forward to setting up some subfolders and making it all a bit more manageable. I'm rather sad but this kind of job makes me so happy!
I'm also going to work on some bigger jobs a tiny chunk every day so I'm also going to:

  • Tidy 10 things from doom box (I'm aiming for 5 a day but didn't do it yesterday)
  • Put 3 things on Vinted
  • Change my name with gym
  • Screenshot photos from Instagram from 2018 that I want to print off
  • Delete 100 photos
I also have a few errands to run so I should probably get a nap in somewhere!
Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/09/2024 04:58

Sortmyselfout, that's a Very ambitious list, but I'm sorry you're not sleeping. I have found that I can be quite productive once I get the dc to bed. I'll blitz a load if laundry, put clothes away, clean bathroom and wash floors. I can get a lot done in an hour of less. The other day I tackled a bunch of mail while they napped. 😃
