Womanizer Pro40 review: the suction vibrator that everyone should own

Combine the expertise of Lovehoney and Womanizer, and what do you have? A life-changing sex toy that won’t ever fail to make you orgasm.

By Rebecca Roberts | Last updated Feb 15, 2024

When it comes to sex toys, Womanizer is a name that crops up time and time again on our Talk boards. With releases like their shower head and first-of-its-kind G-spot stimulator (which we had the pleasure of reviewing), it’s unsurprising that the brand is well-known for innovative design and cutting-edge technology in the world of sex toys. In fact, singer Lily Allen stated that Womanizer toys “have changed my life”.

But before these more, er, advanced toys were released, Womanizer were famed for a toy that offers some good old-fashioned, clit-sucking action. The Womanizer Pro40

Arguably a must-have in your intimate arsenal, Womanizer’s Pro40 - bolstered by the expertise of Lovehoney - is a sex toy that has been specifically designed for the clitoris. So, in this detailed review, we’ll explore the features, performance, and overall allure of the Womanizer Pro40 - shedding light on exactly why our Mumsnet users swear by it and why it has earned the reputation as a go-to for those seeking unparalleled satisfaction.

Read on for a closer look at the Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40, as tried and tested by Mumsnet editor and mum-of-two, Rebecca.

What Mumsnet users say

It is a fantastic design, the first toy that I was aware of that was made for my experience of masturbation- focusing on the clitoris.

Our verdict

Designed with Womanizer’s revolutionary Pleasure Air Technology, which provides precise stimulation without direct contact, the Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40 offers a unique and satisfying experience for clitoral stimulation enthusiasts.

As a said enthusiast, it quickly became apparent why this clitoral sex toy is one of the most recommended vibrators on our sex Talk board by Mumsnet users. I already knew that Womanizer as a brand was one that our users keep going back to during my review of the Womanizer OG G-spot vibrator. But, as someone who isn’t quite as successful with G-spot stimulation, it was time for me to test the original and allegedly “life-changing” toy.

Designed with air technology, the sleek vibrator embraces your clitoris with a silicone head that pulses and massages, depending on the intensity level you select. The Pro40’s waterproof design is great for shower or bath play, and the convenient USB charging makes it versatile and easy to first set up. There are six intensity levels, which help to provide a customisable journey. Although, it falls slightly short compared to the Satisfyer Pro 2 Generation 3 in this regard. Nevertheless, the Pro40 excels in its ability to gradually build sensations, offering everything from soft flutters to an intense pulse that can lead you to achieve climax pretty quickly (be warned!).

Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40 Review

The toy proves especially adept for edging during foreplay and is a great way to warm up before PIV. Unlike the Satisfyer Pro 2, I was disappointed to learn that the Womanizer Pro40 comes with only a single head included. Which, at £100, is a shame - it would be nice to have at least a second one included to prolong the need to spend more money on a replacement. Regardless - with a bit of water-based lubricant around the rim, my experience of the Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40 was satisfying to say the least.

It’s also worth noting that Womanizer offers a five year warranty on all of their toys, a testament to the brand’s commitment to quality and their customer’s satisfaction.

Final thoughts: If you’re a connoisseur of clitoral stimulation and you’re seeking a reliable, effective and thoughtfully designed sex toy, the Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40 combines the expertise of both sex powerhouses into a compelling choice that may very well redefine your expectations of how to reach Mt. O.

How we tested the Womanizer Pro40

  • Tested a few times over several weeks

  • Used in bed and also in the bath once

  • Tried a variety of intensity levels

During testing, I wanted to make sure that it lived up to the hype that users shared over on our Sex Talk board. After all, it’s not just about the tech specs but also how it feels in real life.

So, I first looked at how comfortable and user-friendly it is. While the head is sturdy, the silicone head is soft to touch. Firm, but not too firm that it’s too stiff against you and allows some sort of movement. Although, the Pro40’s head is one of the firmer of the sex toys I’ve tested, and like the Satisfyer, it doesn’t leave much room for error. One slip of the hand and you’re back to square one with building up momentum.

The controls are easy to figure out, and easy to navigate during use. The control panel consists of the on/off button, and then the increase/decrease buttons to navigate the intensities. I paid particular attention to the toy’s Pleasure Air Technology - the tech that Womanizer are renowned for.

And of course, I didn’t forget the practical stuff during testing - making sure to check how long the battery takes to fully charge, how long it lasts, how quiet the vibrator actually is, and how easy it is to clean and keep in tip-top shape.

Packaging and what’s in the box?

  • The Womaniser X Lovehoney Pro40 vibrator device

  • Instruction manual

  • USB charging cable

I’ll admit, the packaging for the Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40 isn’t quite as sleek or as discreet as other sex toy boxes I’ve come across, like LELO’s Smart Wand and Ann Summers’ Self Love Wand. But they say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover - and that’s exactly the case with this clitoral suction vibe.

Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40

Inside the box, you’ll find just three things; the device itself (nestled securely in a molded insert), a manual, and a white USB charging cable. No plug is included - when is a plug ever included these days? - so, you’ll need to find one around your home. Having just the USB cable is handy, though, particularly if you’re travelling and taking one plug head for multiple devices.

How easy is it to set-up?

Setting up the Pro40 is a pretty straightforward process. The vibrator has been designed to make it easy for you to start enjoying it as soon as possible. Users just need to charge the device using the included USB charging cable for an hour or so - once fully charged, it’s ready to use.

I found that charging it for just an hour before first use gave it enough power to be used at least four times before it needed to be plugged in again.

As I’ve mentioned, the control panel is intuitive and features simple buttons that allow you to power the device on and off, and adjust your intensity level easily. The user manual included gives clear instructions on how to operate the sex toy, and it’s not intimidating in the slightest if you’re a sex toy beginner.

How does it look?

The Womanizer x Lovehoney Pro40 has a sleek, modern design that is somewhat elegant and functional. Its ergonomic shape meant it wasn’t too uncomfortable to hold during use. My particular device is rose gold and black in colour, and the main body is smooth, streamlined, with easy to reach buttons placed.

Womanizer x Lovehoney Pro40

To be honest, compared to the Satisfyer - another clitoral suction vibrator I’ve tested - the shape of the Womanizer Pro40 doesn’t scream sex toy. In fact, if an unsuspecting person was to stumble upon this in a drawer, they might dismiss it for a Braun ear thermometer. So, you could argue that its design is inconspicuous.

What’s it like to use?

As an individual who prefers clitoral stimulation, the Womanizer Pro40 was every bit as effective as our Mumsnet users said on our Talk boards. So, personally, it’s a great addition to my (now growing) collection. With that said, due to its precision and rather firm silicone head, it does mean that if you - for whatever reason - become distracted during use and move, you could find yourself back at square one. This was also true of the Satisfyer.

Considering the Pro40 and its rival are both designed to target a specific part of your anatomy, it was unsurprising to find that the Pro40 also lost effectiveness if moved during use.

Although, I guess that’s the point. Considering it’s hailed as a great toy for edging, should you find you need to start again, you’ll find that when you do eventually climax, it’ll be stronger and more pleasurable.

In terms of lubrication, I started off with a small amount so as not to be too slippery. Although, on one occasion I skipped the lube and found it wasn't too uncomfortable without it, either. After all, it's less friction and more pulsations.

Is the Womanizer Pro40 suitable for sensitive clits?

Yes, I would argue that it is definitely suitable for individuals with sensitive clitorises. The device is packed with Pleasure Air Technology, which focuses on gentle suction and pulsations rather than direct contact or friction. This unique technology allows for a more subtle and indirect stimulation, making it an excellent choice for individuals with sensitive clitorises who may find traditional vibrators or stimulators too intense.

How easy is it to clean?

Cleaning the Pro40 is a straightforward, hassle-free process. In fact, thanks to its waterproof and submersible design, the vibrator has been designed with user convenience in mind and its simple construction allows for easy maintenance.

Womanizer Pro40

It's made from body-safe ABS and silicone, which are both smooth materials that allow for quick, efficient cleaning. Personally, I find cleaning the device with mild, unscented soap and warm water is all you need. However, you may prefer cleaning it with a sex toy cleaner or wipe - just make sure no residue remains and it dries fully before next use!

The silicone nozzle can be detached for a more thorough cleaning, too.
