Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

So what would our slogan be?

We would quite like a slogan to go on the banner for marches, and I thought it would be nice to discuss it more widely than just the feminist crafters.

Suggestions so far:

The hand that rocks the cradle can [also] change the world

Agitate, educate, organise (this was an NUM local branch slogan; we might be able to come up with a variation.)

I still like my hand that rocks the cradle one- it seems apt to a parenting site (and I'm sure I've seen it used as a feminist slogan before), but if that doesn't float people's boat, how about "The Millwall Of Mumsnet"? Grin. Not really.

Unrulysun · 10/03/2011 14:40

I think this is a great idea - educate agitate organise was my Dad's union branch slogan and I like the imperatives (it has a good rhythm too - you can shout it well). I'm not suggesting that but I thought we could maybe come up with three verbs?

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 10/03/2011 14:42

I agree about the imperatives.

Agitate, educate, spit

Isn't it- 'the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world'? I'm not sure though because we don't do we? The menz does.

'inform, support, befriend' or variations thereof?

BitOfFun · 10/03/2011 14:44

That's why it is changed though, Unruly. It subverts it.

Unrulysun · 10/03/2011 14:45
Grin
BitOfFun · 10/03/2011 14:48

There are other more general ones, like "A woman?s place is in the struggle".

I am off for a google...

Grumpla · 10/03/2011 14:50

How about:

"We don't hate MEN, we hate INEQUALITY"

or

"Yes You Can Be A Mummy And A Feminist SIMULTANEOUSLY"

or

"Some of us even wear bras, you know!"

That would address most of the recurring questions about feminism.

Failing that, a massive embroidered cat's bum / humourless emoticon.

LOL @ the milwall of mumsnet

Unrulysun · 10/03/2011 14:50

What about big black letters:

TROLLKILLERS

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 10/03/2011 14:51

bwahahaha at through-beard spitting. Think I missed the origin of that :o

I quite like subverting the idea of us as a load of gossiping women. Mmmm, what about "Words And Deeds" to ruin borrow the suffragette slogan?

"The Revolution Begins At Home"

"Raising the Revolution"
