I'll start!
Enid Blyton, without a doubt. And still the author who instilled a love of reading, whose books I devoured, and have loved as much all over again reading them to my own children.

As an adult, I guess it's Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine.

Over to you...

saraparetsky.com

The only crime author I can actually read.

BareBelliedSneetch · 23/07/2018 20:47

Robert Heinelein probably.

blamethecat · 23/07/2018 20:47

Stephen King or Ian Rankin.

Moltenpink · 23/07/2018 20:50

Yes to Enid Blyton, I must have read hundreds!

In adult years, I’ve read everything Maggie O’Farrell has written.

wizzywig · 23/07/2018 20:51

Patricia cornwell, jonathon kellerman, Anne holt

LaceandChintz · 23/07/2018 20:54

This is a good way of throwing out some new authors for me to check out. Thanks!

Adam croft and Martina Cole!

efeslight · 23/07/2018 20:56

Lots of enid blyton as a child. Then agatha christie, some stephen king as a young adult.
Years rereading different authors, like ruth rendell, barbara vine, pd james , susan hill's serralier detective series.
Also iris murdoch, margaret drabble, patricia highsmith,
Now revisiting stephen king again

Cornishclio · 23/07/2018 20:57

Linwood Barclay, Harlen Coben, Jodi Picoult, Kate Morton, Helen Forrester, Lucinda Riley. If I like a book I usually try and get hold of others by the same author.

BevBrook · 23/07/2018 20:58

Yes, definitely Enid Blyton.
As an adult, probably Agatha Christie. Then Terry Pratchett and Isaac Asimov. Mainly because they wrote so many books - I have other authors that I have read every book they wrote and if they wrote more books I would read them, but they are not keeping up with my demand! I have read every Rebus novel.

dimplesmccutie · 23/07/2018 20:59

martina Cole

WutheringFrights · 23/07/2018 21:00

Terry Pratchett

GoingRogue · 23/07/2018 21:02

Roddy Doyle and Irvine Welsh.

LaceandChintz · 23/07/2018 21:06

BevBrook agree! Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine so prolific and I read all her stuff. But other authors I love and have read all they've written (Jonathan Coe for one) but they just haven't written so much!

Also Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine for me too. Last year I read all of the Wexford books (again) in order. Lovely man.
Asta’s book is my favourite of hers.

I was a huge Blyton fan as a child too.

DrDiva · 23/07/2018 21:13

Wasn’t allowed to read Enid Blyton (too wicked and depraved). Read Nancy Drew on the sly though. Loads of those!

As an adult, Faye Kellerman, Marian Keyes, and I’m sure there are more sophisticated ones if I thought really hard!!

southeastdweller · 23/07/2018 21:16

Ian McEwan. I've read eight of his books so I'm quite a fan.

Namechangeforhair · 23/07/2018 21:21

Jodie Picoult
Lisa Jewell
Kate Atkinson
Maggie O'Farrell
Claire Macintosh

redfragglebiker · 23/07/2018 21:22

As a kid, Enid Blyton for sure... Growing up would have been RL Stine (point horror anyone) Dean Koontz or Stephen King. Consistently throughout life... Terry Pratchett without a shadow of a doubt.

Petalflowers · 23/07/2018 21:27

Also grew up on Enid Blyton

As an adult, James Patterson, Maeve Binchley, Neville’s Shute, jolly Cooper. John Grisham etc.

I tend to,alternate between a thriller/action book, and lighter chick lit type book.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 23/07/2018 21:29

Georgette Heyer... I've read her books over and over and over again!

Allyg1185 · 23/07/2018 21:29

Val Mcdermid

Japanesejazz · 23/07/2018 21:29

As a child Enid Blyton, K.M Peyton, Agatha Christie
Adult Mary Wesley, Kate Atkinson

Namechangeforhair · 23/07/2018 21:32

horacemorris · 23/07/2018 21:33
