Definitely lined it up for series 3. NG has hinted there could be a 3rd.

nocoolnamesleft · 29/07/2023 02:23

Yeah, if they didn't want to leave the possibility of season 3 open, I think Aziraphale might have made a different decision. Seemed pretty well in keeping with the spirit of the original book. And spotted a couple of nice Pratchett nods.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 29/07/2023 02:31

Liked the reference to CMOT Dibbler on the Laudanum bottle

nocoolnamesleft · 29/07/2023 02:37

Yes. And the paperback Gabriel demonstrated as a fan was definitely a Pratchett book.

iamthattree · 29/07/2023 04:53

Have only watched the first 3 but I was enjoying the John Finnamore/cabin pressure references as well, yellow car, Crowley drinking talisker....

TyneTeas · 29/07/2023 12:37

There had better be a third!

Small confession but every time I see the Metatron I am waiting for Derek Jacobi to say “Iggle Piggle…”

Calyx72 · 29/07/2023 20:11

I'm raging. Gaiman has ruined it. That last episode was bloody ridiculous. I mean just no.

I enjoyed those. A few Doctor Who ones sneak in as well.

I really hope there is season three!

The Edinburgh doctor the bodies get sold to Mr Dalrymple … the name is mentioned in season one when sergent shadwell says the witch gun he takes to the air field was from witchfinder Dalrymple!

Up to episode 5 so far and loving it; The Terry Pratchett references, the superb cameos, the clever wee references to films Hoping not to be too disappointed by the ending!

maybelou · 30/07/2023 03:27

I'm gutted by the ending, I feel it's really inconsistent with Aziraphale's growth and they've only done it to set up s3. Bad writing IMO. It was so good up until the last ten minutes but it really spoiled the whole thing for me. It had been a great season until then.

I need to digest it a bit. Been a fan of the book for years and years so definitely taking it quite hard when I was expecting a happy ending 😭

IncompleteSenten · 30/07/2023 08:00

I loved it apart from the ending.
It just didn't fit.
Coming up with that to try to push a season 3 was ridiculous. It's a good show and would have deserved another season regardless.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 30/07/2023 08:05

I’m only on episode 2 and not really enjoying it so far and I loved the first series. Think I’m just a bit confused about what’s happening, there doesn’t seem to be a main storyline/purpose or if there is I’ve missed it. The first fifteen minutes of the first episode were a bit dull and I think I zoned out.

Notquitethere60 · 30/07/2023 09:33

Just finished it. Definitely contrived for a series 3. Last 10 minutes spoiled it for me.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 30/07/2023 10:08

I'm only on episode 3 so I'm not ready previous posts until I've finished, but I need to say how obsessed I am with the apology dance. I think it should become everyday etiquette. And also how beautifully David Tennant can curtsey given how gangly he is, ballet arms and everything at the end.

Calyx72 · 30/07/2023 11:11

I loved the apology dance 😃

I found the zombie nazi episode quite boring as well.

I did enjoy Aziraphale's hosting of the tenants & shopkeepers meeting!

Didn't like the Nina character at all.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 30/07/2023 12:16

I didn't like the ending either. I wish they'd finished with a cliffhanger.

My problem with Nina is that as soon as I hear her voice, all I can hear is "I think there's a pretty sizeable arse there, yes, sir."

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 30/07/2023 12:21

I really liked Muriel, I thought her "office junior" angel was very good, and the actress played it very well.

LilacSorbet · 30/07/2023 15:10

Aziraphale would never Sad

I liked the reference to the seamstresses, as well as the Tardis noise in the background at points.
And Job being Peter Davison and Job's son being Ty Tennant.
