What happened to The Apprentice this year? It's not been on, has it?

OP posts:
Cherrypi · 14/09/2014 19:37

Nope.

GerundTheBehemoth · 14/09/2014 19:39

It's meant to be starting sometime in the autumn - later than usual because of all the sport stuff in the summer. I reckon it may replace the Great British Bake Off - if so it'll start on 15 October.

AgentProvocateur · 14/09/2014 20:10

That's good. Thanks - that's my winter viewing sorted.

OP posts:
ShadowStar · 14/09/2014 21:53

I think delaying it because of the football world cup and whatever other sports events was a pretty flimsy excuse given how long ago the world cup finished. Wasn't the world cup final about 2 months ago?

When does autumn officially start anyway?

GerundTheBehemoth · 07/10/2014 21:25

It's back next week :) First episode Tuesday 14th, 9pm, then another one the day after, Wednesday 15th at 9pm (where I guess it will stay for the duration). Meet the candidates!

Ellenora5 · 08/10/2014 12:25

Oh brill can't wait Grin
Thanks Gerund

I CAN'T WAIT ^^

Even though I spend the first few episodes watching through my fingers! Grin

Italiangreyhound · 08/10/2014 17:42

Does anyone fancy guessing a winner based basic information Meet the candidates

I just wonder if anyone can get an idea of the successful one before the show starts! Or once they open their months the opinions change. Anyone fancy proffering a view? Pretty please??

cricketballs · 09/10/2014 06:22

Italian - I do this as a comp with my business groups every year Grin teaches them a lot about the impact of first impressions. It also gets them watching it, instilling the need to do/act upon market research!

Mrsgrumble · 09/10/2014 06:24

Yahoo

Italiangreyhound · 09/10/2014 14:22

Cricketballs like to proffer any guesses yourself? Yahoo indeed, Mrsgrumble.

GerundTheBehemoth · 09/10/2014 14:24

Oooh, and according to Iplayer there is a special '10 years of the Apprentice' programme on Monday night at 10.35pm :D

Italiangreyhound · 09/10/2014 18:45

GerundTheBehemoth fabulous. Thanks for reminding me.

I think Nurun Ahmed or Solomon Akhtar might just win. They seem very credible. But then again I picked the candidate to win a few years back (Bilyana Apostolova -The Apprentice 2012) and she went out in the first episode I think!

I also like the look of Chiles Cartwrigh to win because he seems nice (and he does martial arts, which requires dedication - he is a black belt), and Katie Bulmer-Cooke sounds honest and nice, down to earth.

But my all time favourites are Felipe Alviar-Baquero because he says "He is passionate about social entrepreneurship and is a trustee for a British charity supporting vulnerable children in Colombia." Same reason I like Steven Ugoalah "... spent a year travelling the Arctic for a community development social work project with remote Inuit communities". I'd love to see these guys win but I think they will not, possibly, because Lord Sugar seems to like them mean and keen rather than just nice and keen! I am sure Lord Sugar will still be interested in how many bits of tat they can flog from a cart, because that is the nature of the programme...... can't wait!

cricketballs · 09/10/2014 22:43

all groups will have made their decision tomorrow - they watch the audition clips and view the short bio offered. They play for a prize of the group closest to the winner and the closest to the first to be fired! Teenagers are very judgmental and it is funny listening to them whilst they discuss it Grin At the moment though, year 10 girls want James to win (more on looks than anything!)

cricketballs · 09/10/2014 22:57

I'm not sure - its got more difficult since becoming a partner rather than apprentice as so much of it depends on the business plan they put forward. I know of several I don't like!

Italiangreyhound · 10/10/2014 00:01

Where have you got all this info from and who are these groups, cricketballs! I thought I was a serious Apprentice fan but I feel in the dark!

Please do tell!

And who do you think will win, and is that who you want to win!?

ChippingInLatteLover · 10/10/2014 00:10

Good to see you here Livia :)

I wondered who would start the first thread... then it was started by someone who didn't even realise it was back next week Grin

It is very late this year, it's normally May/June.

I hope it's better than last year... it was dismal.

ChippingInLatteLover · 10/10/2014 00:26

I think I can confirm the fact that they're all going to be fucking annoying entertaining.

Please let at least a couple of them have a brain cell. Just the one would be a start.

cricketballs · 10/10/2014 17:26

audition clips here

also a clip of the boys deciding on a name here

Italiangreyhound · 13/10/2014 16:41

Thanks Cricketballs. so can you yet reveal who you felt, or your students felt, might cut the mustard?

Having watched Solomon Akhtar's audition clip I am now not sure, he seems lovely, yes handsome, though that is not swaying me! But also a tad 'flaky' maybe. I think he said something like people may find his enthusiasm annoying! And if there is one person who can get annoyed by people I think it is Lord Alan Sugar!

So may need to move Chiles up into the first place for me with Bianca Miller and Nurun Ahmed! Oh hope these guys do not all go out at the start!

There will be multiple firings because there are 20 candidates but it is only the same length series as normal.

cricketballs · 13/10/2014 19:44

personally I'm not taking a liking to anyone but I can revel that my yr10-yr13 business groups have gone with (based on first impressions) (each group chose their own winner/first to be fired)

to win
Solomon
Bianca
Roisin
Mark
James

first to be fired
Nurun x 2
Daniel
Mark
Jemma

ChippingInLatteLover · 13/10/2014 20:18

20 of them, holy hell, the first few episodes are going to be posting carnage Grin I must remember to have had dinner first, posting, eating & watching will be All Too Much Grin

Cricket I would love to be doing what you are doing with your BGs :)

I'll have to have another look tomorrow and see who I think v who I want - before they start.

Italiangreyhound · 13/10/2014 22:23

Cricketballs that is interesting

to win
Solomon
Bianca
Roisin

they were all ones I considered but not Mark or James.

First to go out is not so much who is not competent or who is not good but who is sticking their head above parapet and not doing well. Very hard to predict, IMHO.
