Ok so I have bought these shoes and when they arrived this morning, they had a big scratch on one of them - on the acual shoes, not the sole or whatever.

Obviously not noticeable since they are all the way down on your feet etc and I accept that I would probably scratch them within a few wears since they are so metallic and shiny. But the point is that if I am paying £400 or whatever, I expect to open the box to a perfect pair of shoes

NaP offered to replace but alas! mine were the last in my size. So they asked me to take pics and email them in and said that they may offer me a discount. I'm waiting to hear back from them.

My question is - what sort of discount would you deem acceptable? Don't want to be fobbed off with a fiver off, but nor do I want to give up my shoes!!

I would say at least 10% but would push for 20% - they will struggle to resell them now, who would spend £300+ on scratched shoes?

Do you actually specifically need them or are they a fun purchase? I think they're gorgeous and if you love them or it's a specific thing you need/want them for then you'll just have to take what they offer! If not then you could always swap for another gorgeous pair of shoes?

I reckon 2 things... Probably more than 2 actually (Spanish Inquisition! )

1. Go in polite, but fighting. Try calling. My DH is Italian, and I have learned from him that if you don't ask, you don't get. Call them, speak to a real person, rather than an email , and go as low as you dare - 50% maybe - as someone has already said, they can't resell a damaged pair of shoes. Try not to let on too much that you really want the shoes!
   
   
2. NAP have pretty good customer service, and probably want to keep their customer base happy, so I would expect decent treatment, at least.
   
   
3. If they offer less than 20%, I'd return them, even if you love them. You'll find another pair, I'm sure
   
   
4. Try another tack... If they don't offer you more than 20%, I'd ask for a store credit of more than 20% of the value from them instead, IYSWIM - that way, you get more money back towards another purchase. They might see that as a good deal.
   
   Will think about what else I might do...

Don't be embarrassed to be really brazen, btw. Honestly. I know it feels unnaturaly, but as I said, I've learned from DH... You are pretty much anonymous to them, and they to you, so you don't have to blush in their faces. And it's not as if if you ask for a really cheeky discount they'll stop you shopping there in the future!

I think you'd normally expect the shoes to be discounted by 30% if they were in the sale - and they would be perfect. I agree with Penthesileia go in high and see what they say. If you want perfect shoes give New Bond Street a call and see if they will deliver for you. Still not bought mine yet!!

I agree with Choogirl - as they're end of stock shoes, normally they'd be put on sale, as damaged goods, at way more than 10%. I'd say at least 30% would be what you'd want.

I'm not sure how big the scratch is but personally, if I was buying Jimmy Choos I'd require a really really hefty discount to accept less than full quality.

My latest humble purchase was a pair of jewelled sandals from new look - can't you see I am really pushing the boat out!

I have never been in the Jimmy Choo league but my most expensive pair ever were silver snakeskin stilettos from Karen Millen. I bought them in 2002 for £140 but I am still wearing them. Not very often it has to be said - most of the time they reside in their box!

Nothing wrong with inexpensive shoes - I bought a par of £8 gold strappy flats from Primark a few weeks ago and have had nothing but nice compliments on them.

KWYM re; KM shoes too (they sound lush by the way) I bought a pair of $240 knee-high suede boots for the Jamiroquai concert when I was 22 and a uni student in Sydney ... seemed like $$$$$$ at the time, but 14 years on they are still going strong. Hopefully any expensive shoes I buy will be in that league.

Which is why I am not buying these
