I hate L'occitane shower gel - what products do you think are overrated?

(I promise I will change my username soon!)

L'occitane shower oil - horrid smell. Dove do one now and it's only £2 and smells nice!

YSL Touche Eclat - Barbara Daly one is better

Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream - is the same as lubricating stuff they use in hospitals (don't ask!)

Neal's Yard "natural" cosmetics. Everything is packed so full of essential oils that my skin reacts to it immediately and the smells are overpowering.

Liz Earle Cleanse and polish.
Liz Earle shampoo and conditioner.

I second Liz Earle. My dermatologist told me it's a "pleasure product" and has no actual benefits.

DHC cleansing oil was also a disappointment.

Lancôme stuff. Liz Earle. Number seven.

Pixi Glow Tonic. Stinks to high heaven and made my usually good skin angry and red.

Everything by Elemis: bought a QVC set that had about 10 different products. They were all rubbish.

Benefit mascaras. All of them. Shit.

MiL raves about L'occitane too, I think it's rubbish, full of SLS.
Asics trainers don't support my feet properly, I'll stick to my Adidas in future.

I will second cleanse and polish, but will recommend my best product which fades my pigmentation and makes my skin glow, that's demologicia skin resurfacing cleanser.

I actually like Liz Earle shampoo conditioner

Neals yard shite. My mom loves it 'cause it's posh. I find it really astringent and drying, worse than anything I've ever used before, including very cheap brands.
It's all about marketing. I never believe the marketing bollocks. I'm a Home Bargains " suck it and see" type of woman.

Everything by Benefit. I had to stop myself grabbing it out of the hands of a woman applying it on the train, and throwing it out of the window as some people don't recognise kindness when they see it.

Oh damn - have just bought Liz Earle cleanse and polish as I read good reviews and also desperate for a good cleanser for my annoyingly sensitive skin!

Don't suppose the dermatologist you spoke with had any recommendations for a good cleanser?

Mine are Estée Lauder double wear (horribly thick and bad colour palette) and also neals yard mineral powder and burts bees tinted lip balm!

Ah! Now I'm a fan of Pixi glow tonic! And I love the smell too!

Pimfree - sorry! Give it a try but don't expect miracles.

My (extremely expensive) dermatologist got me using La Roche Posay and Avene cleansers. Available in Boots. I've never looked back.

My very personal favourite is Avene anti-redness cleanser:

L'Occitane hand cream - smells gorgeous but has absolutely no moisturising effect.

That alpha liquid gold stuff that everyone was raving about a year ago. Cost an arm and a leg and did absolutely nothing for my skin..

Bumble and bumble Don't blow it, product to use instead of heat styling. My hair looked horrific. I won't ever stray from Moroccan oil again.

pimfree have a look at my recent thread, just discovered a fab cleanser for sensitive skin!

*Benefit or BeneSHIT as I like to refer to it - all their products are useless!!

  • Seche vite top coat, No7 is better and cheaper.

  • Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner- Expensive, looks harsh and irritates.

  • Liz Earle obvs.

  • Those scarves people bleat on about on here!

  • Mac foundations

  • She Umera eyelash curler - Primark ones are the best and only a quid.

  • Bravissimo bra fitting service- I quite like to breathe thank you very much!

I'm sure I'll think of more!

See I like some of the above! Very specific ones though

Mac waterweight foundation is nice

Gel eyeliner - love but I buy the maybelline one as its cheap. I want harsh, I'm all about the flicks GrinGrinGrin

Liked benefit gimme brow but W7 version is about a tenth of the price and does the same job

Sorry to jump in but does anyone know how to get the l'occitane pump sprays to work?! I have had two and still have a nearly full bottle of room spray. I have tried rinsing it under a tap. Am loathed to throw a nearly full bottle out. TIA.

Contact their customer services line and they'll assist you. They do actually have a very good customer service.

I love Occitane shower oil and Molton Brown.

But - but! I find that whatever cleanser I use, however many times I rinse and repeat, it always, always leaves a makeup residue on my throat. ALWAYS.

The cotton pad is always covered in makeup when I tone after cleansing. Always.

Is there a cleanser out there that actually takes off all makeup?

I've used LRP, Liz Earle, Freederm, Chanel, Estee Lauder, Clinique...you name it, I've used it.

But none of them take all my makeup off.

I second YSL touche eclat - it smells awful as well

I love Elemis though - their SOS Emergency cream has been a lifesaver for my blotchy hormonal skin since I got preggo

Nip&Fab pads, made my skin red and patchy
EL double wear, way too thick
Someone bought me a creme de la mer moisturiser, it was fine but for the price I was hoping for more!
