ermm Tech - re Halloween smilies........

TheQueenOfQuotes · 25/10/2007 18:10

now I don't want to start a mass debate about Halloween.........but I'd just like to say that I don't like being forced to use Halloween smilies when I don't celebrate it.

I really don't want to have to not use them until they're gone (seems to be the only one without ........) is there any way you can have "normal" smilies for those that don't wish to use the "seasonal" ones.......and the current ones for those that do???

Is this a Christian prickly-about-people-revelling-in-evil objection QOQ, or just a personal quirk of yours?

I don't want to use them either. Because I'm grumpy.

We had separate sets at Christmas.

Some people are no fun at all.

Greensleeves - It's because I'm a Christian and while I don't "force" my views onto other people I'm being "forced" to either not use emoticons until they're gone or go against my beliefs. As I said I don't want a full on debate about it - we do it every year with the same results (no-one changes their views LOL) so no point in doing it again.

Hmm - I'm afraid we can't offer you a no halloween smiley option - we didn't have two options at Christmas... we do promise, however, that they'll be down on Nov 1st... so not too long to endure.

I love them and will use them all the time

I thought we had the option at Christmas too, I seem to recall having to type something extra if you wanted the red hat version.

although my memory is known to be crap.

SatanGeorge · 25/10/2007 19:14

Aha, just checked. You had to type Xmas Smile to get it with a hat, without the f you just got the normal smile.

dior someone said you have to F5 your computer.

Wallace · 25/10/2007 19:16

I can't see them either

Have the rest of the gone mad and started to imagine scary halloween emoticons?

Report
Wallace · 25/10/2007 19:18

WOAH!

Got them now! What the !*x is that magic F5 button?

DottydotsofBloodOnTheFloor · 25/10/2007 19:20

Wow - how come F5 just did that?! I really hope I feel a lot over the next few days - love it!

i was just reading another thread and wondered if an option to use them or normal ones would be better. They are startimg ti grate on me a little

I don't like being forced to use Hallowe'en smilies either ... and I do celebrate (well, Samhain).

We definitely had the option not to use the Christmas ones last year; we had to post [f smile] for the festive ones. I'd have flounced big time if I'd been forced to have all my smilies wearing stupid little Santa hats.

Highly inappropriate to have silly little hats on some of the more sensitive threads, I think.

WHERE'S MY BLOODY MESSAGE?

yes was going to say we had to post [fmile] for festive ones

Report
TheQueenOfQuotes · 25/10/2007 19:51

well I can't "type" without my smilies (they're a "part" of me LOL) so I shall take a short "break" to the "darkside" (babyworld LOL) until next Wednesday then

Yes, what StG said. You typed f for festive to get the festive ones.

I don't mind the halloween emoticons but don't like the new book style thingie - it's a good idea but IMO would be better if the last page was displayed first (you generally are reposting so don't need to see the first page again), especially as the 'flip' key does not appear to be working!

Wisteria - you can set it up to do that. Have a look at Customise Talk Board at the top.

demonaid · 25/10/2007 20:11

You did have two options at Christmas -- there was {smile} or {fsmile}, {grin} or {fgrin}, etc. (but obviously with [] instead of {}).
