Cuppa or Hot Beverage?

HelenMumsnet · 11/02/2011 11:43

Hello. The result of our cup of tea emoticon poll show a clear win for the cuppa fans.

So.... all that remains is to decide what text we all type in to make our cup of tea emoticon appear.

Would you like [cuppa] ?

Or the rather less liquid-specific/more amusing but longer-to-type [hot beverage] ?

Do let us know...

[mug]

It is the all inclusive option. And so versatile.

MaryBS · 11/02/2011 11:46

I like [cuppa], short but sweet

Geocentric · 11/02/2011 11:47

Oooh, I like [mug]. Opens up new possibilities for emoticon use!! Grin

AtYourCervix · 11/02/2011 11:49

[mug] - multipurpose Grin

FluteyBoots · 11/02/2011 11:49

I'm with [mug]

I like a multipurpose emoticon, like the biscuit and the green face

AnnMarlow · 11/02/2011 11:51

[mug] sounds good

nenevomito · 11/02/2011 11:52

My I suggest the northern Brew?

Do you want a Brew?

Brew's up.

There's no cuppa's or beverages in our area, but lots of [brew}s.

I may be a lone voice, but one can but try.

WincyEtNightie · 11/02/2011 11:56

For me some people the shorter words are difficult enough. eg Gin [wunk]

God knows what a has I they would make of "hot beverage"

I'm liking Brew but if that's not an option I'd go for [cuppa]

PS Just noticed the bear is missing from the list. Is it a new test to prove we are genuine MNers? Bear Confused

HelenMumsnet · 11/02/2011 11:56

The trouble with [mug] is our emoticon is a rather well-mannered cup and saucer.

And [mug] could perhaps be, er, misinterpreted upon occasion?

OP posts:
Geocentric · 11/02/2011 11:57

Or we can make it easy and do [t]

GeraldineMumsnet · 11/02/2011 11:57

vote for Brew here, too.

bigcar · 11/02/2011 11:57

[mug] I often wonder if I have this written on my forehead Grin totally multi purpose.

WincyEtNightie · 11/02/2011 12:00

at misinterpreted. Are you saying we can be mean on occasion?! Shock

I really want [medal] but suspect it might be similarly erm abused!

Blackduck · 11/02/2011 12:02

i like [mug] - good one soupy... :)

magna · 11/02/2011 12:04

Another vote for Brew here - Have we asked Norman though

SoupDragon · 11/02/2011 12:11

So, given you've gone for the tea specific cup and saucer, why are you trying to pretend you are being inclusive of other hot beverages?

You have mislead us.

Flisspaps · 11/02/2011 12:14

[cup]

?

SoupDragon · 11/02/2011 12:14

"Please note that although we are using the word 'tea' the emoticon can be used as any hot beverage of your choosing (attempt to fend off enraged coffee/ Horlicks/ hot chocolate or Bovril drinks)."

This was clearly a lie because no one drinks other hot beverages from a cup and saucer. You put it to the voters with a blatant misrepresentation of the facts.

Are you David Cameron?

RamonaFlowers · 11/02/2011 12:19

[Hot Bev]

Also open to misinterpretation....Grin

AtYourCervix · 11/02/2011 12:19

um. how many of us actually drink out of a cup and saucer?

and don't give me that crap about it tasting better out of bone china because i simply don't believe it.

HelenMumsnet · 11/02/2011 12:20

I drink coffee and hot chocolate from a cup and saucer

OP posts:
HettyAmaretti · 11/02/2011 12:20

[hot drink]

No reason not to drink coffee or whatever else from a cup and saucer Hmm

TheNewStig · 11/02/2011 12:21

[cup] and please don't bother with a saucer.

Geocentric · 11/02/2011 12:21

My DD like to drink out of the saucer...
