Will Peggy make it to the end of this thread?

OP posts:

Aaaww mam, we won't be moving close to you after all

Aaa aw Rooooth, that's soooooo sad.

Rooooth turns to make a cuppa..

Camera pans back.

Heatherpet throws away her crutches does a victory roll, hand pump, fist punch, or Northen equivalent, then quickly sits back down.

(Auto spell changed cuppa to chip pancake????)

Icimoi · 28/02/2015 12:12

I must say I want to hear the scene where Heatherpet tells Ruth she always thought the whole idea was bloody stupid and she can manage fine without her.

ZeroFunDame · 28/02/2015 12:15

Chip pancake? Why did I never think of that?

Here's some tragic, Ancient Greek Cake just in case we need it later on ...

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 28/02/2015 12:30

Me too ici!!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 28/02/2015 12:35

Grin Marking place and pasting this in case others didn't see

JessieMcJessie · 28/02/2015 12:54

I didn't really get the logic behind Ruth's final question "how can ah choose between me family and me mam?"

There's no choice to be made, is there? David is not leaving Brookfield. So what's her "choosing my mam" option - leave them all at Brookfield, go to live with Heather and take a local job as a farmhand?

Until the road loomed large they must presumably have been comfortable with the idea that (barring a sudden death) one day Heatherpet would be old and infirm and Ruth would not be on hand to support her; she's known this ever since she married into the Archer family and it would have been thought about again carefully at the time that Solly died.

Yes, Ruth is facing having to renegue on a promise made to her ill mother, and it's all very dramatic, but the line they gave her seemed like ill-thought-through pre-theme tune melodrama to me.

minkGrundy · 28/02/2015 12:59

Me also

GypsyFloss · 28/02/2015 13:14

Thankyou for the new thread Pseudo . Love the title Smile

GypsyFloss · 28/02/2015 13:17

Maybe Heatherpet will SOTMC and then we'll have Rooth wailing ..." You killed me Mam Deevid, ah don't think ah I can bear it". And then she will leave. Please.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 28/02/2015 13:33

I suspect Ruth will do a massive flounce and tell David she may not retun from prudhoe

She will then come back a week later (Eddie having earnt loads of overtime) and things will go back to normal. Cos everyone in ambridge has been subjected to the melodrama fairy dust

GophersSitOnSofas · 28/02/2015 13:48

Can someone explain to me, in really simple language, why TA is so in Archery in its story lines and characterisation. Why the new actors.

Thank you. As you were. I'm the eejit of Archers listeners.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 28/02/2015 14:12

NB Which night was it that folk ended up missing the end of the ep convo with Rob and Helen on the inlayer? I need to find that podcast too.

I don't want Ruth to leave. I heart her.

nauticant · 28/02/2015 14:19

Glossary of abbreviations, nicknames, and slang used in this thread when discussing TA.

(Would someone check to see if the link goes to the right post? Ta.)

PetulaGordino · 28/02/2015 14:29

I always find it weird that ruth calls her mother "mum". When I lived in the NE everyone (local) called their mother "mam". Or perhaps it's a prudhoe thing? Or an individual thing.

Thanks for the new thread pseudo

ZeroFunDame · 28/02/2015 14:36

Gophers Presuming you mean un-Archery I think the general consensus is that the Editor is taking the X-Factor route of making the song his own.

Minimammoth · 28/02/2015 14:38

Just checking in.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 28/02/2015 14:52

Gosh, that's clever, nauticant! How did you do that?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 28/02/2015 14:52

Sorry, should have said - it does go right to the relevant post. I didn't know you could do that here.

Thanks for the new thread, Pseudo!

Alsoflamingo · 28/02/2015 14:53

Many thanks for new thread. Top title.

If we can't lose Pip on a long trip to Oz then perhaps she could have a mishap with a robotic milker at some stage in the very near future

florentina1 · 28/02/2015 14:54

Thiursday Olivia

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 28/02/2015 14:57

.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/02/2015 15:06

The question about the Archer offsprings' reaction - Pip is probably as described, in a massive strop. While partly because she's being deprived of shiny new toys, she actually had put quite a bit of work into researching the robotic milking etc and could really see her future up in HH. But the boys - well, we only have Ruth's word and (a) she may be an unreliable narrator and (b) they are likely to have to some extent told her what she wanted to hear (or not what they really thought) - so Josh would just not say much and Ben sweetly came up with worrying about Granny H.

nauticant · 28/02/2015 15:06

If you look below AllMimsy, you'll find the very simple explanation of how to put links underneath text under the heading Links. The slightly tricky part is how to find the exact link to a particular post.

It's good to see Olivia shows good taste in her appreciation of TA characters.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 28/02/2015 15:22

Yes, that's the bit I was marvelling at, nauticant!

Bluestocking · 28/02/2015 15:51

Hello, you two! Shall we pop along to the Bull and check out Fallon's new menu ideas - Bankrupt Burgers with Cashed-In Chips, maybe?
