New thread - happy Monday!

Just incase you are wondering this is a thread for premmie mums who feel like they have missed out on the NCT classes experience and would like to chat.

I have missed out twice as has had two premies!
One of which seems to be wide awake at 4am - I have just fallen over a toy trying to get to her and am now cuddling her praying she'll drop off fast!
How's everyone?

Good morning! Another thread? Grin

It's 3am here and Halo is one cranky baby! I'm so glad his twin is a heavy sleeper!

The boys have just been tandem fed and are out for the count. Currently laid in bed with Halo on my chest who can't make up his mind whether he's hungry or not. He's also fighting sleep - annoying little bugger Grin DH is fast on with his arm around my waist so I am literally trapped. Oh the joy. Not rest for the wicked.

Any weekday plans?

Thanks MMama. Just read your post on the other thread. I think our DS just gets bored really quickly. I feel like I'm constantly trying to find new ways to amuse him, moving from toy to game to position. It's exhausting! Just waiting for a door bouncer to arrive! I'm hoping it will give him a different perspective on the world. I think my DS thinks I'm dull! I think he's trying to coo 'give me an iPad'!
Your twins sound like they are doing great x

Halo would rather sleep than intetact at the minute. He's got OT appts twice a week now to help him interact more. He's still very hypersentive and everything sets him off. He's a miserable baby most of the time - some days I want to stick him in a dark room with glow in dark lights and coloured lights and leave him be! Blush

Otherwise they're getting on great! V. Proud :) seems your LO is too! :)

Mama - what do they do in the OT appts?

Not really sure what they do. As Halo is being referred soon for a proper dx, this OT is focusing on making things more easier at home by engaging him certain situations and finding ways to help him cope such as baby massages to help get him used to being touched, and using lights and white noise to stimulate his brain without overwhelming him. That is what his OT is doing not sure what a "normal" OT session is like.

Week is going good but busy. Today Halo had his first OT appt, Artie had audiologist, tomorrow I am babysitting my DNs, thursday, Halo OT appt & Artie soft play and Friday is hopefully quiet! Haha.

Having such a downer, today. Was talking to my friend back in England whose currently a week in to her "babymoon" and I can't help but feel jealous and I secretly dislike her for it - which makes me feel so awful and two-faced! :( It just makes me realise what I missed out on. While she was holding her newborn, I was watching a machine help Halo breathe in a plastic box. Now, they're 5 months old, no longer newborns and I feel like that was taken from me. Ignore my ramblings, I'm sleep deprived and been looking after 8 kids all day!

Halo has been strapped to my chest all day - I try and take him out and he screams. Had to bathe him and put him back in the wrap... I have no idea how I'm going to get him settled in bed in 20minutes without having a tantrum.

Oh MMama. You're doing a great job. How you manage to look after all your children and have so much energy to look after more children, i do not know! I've only got one and i struggle. I still feel that my Babymoon was stolen. I keep seeing pregnant women and thinking that I'm never going to get that time again where I'm pregnant with no children and can just slob out x

My BiL is going through a lot at minute so trying to help out where I can, even if it means adding too more insane monkeys to my brood!

Managed to get Halo down after an hour of screaming and literally cried himself to sleep. I don't think I can take much more of his nightly screaming fits. Even DH is at a loss of what to do. I've ordered on of those Lulla-Vibe pads and a Zen Swaddle to see if that helps him sleep.

How's your day been?

Hi Fraggle and Mama,
Had a rough night - my oldest was in bad pain with an ear infection, slept in his bed for a while until he fell asleep - maximum dose of baby meds given.
I've got a four year old and a 18 month old - my youngest being the most prem at 33 weeks. Not nearly as early as both your little ones.
Mama - I felt that more with my youngest - it was my last pregnancy and difficult most of the way through. I felt cheated as I didn't get to hold her and we had to go home without her. It was hard to bond with her as I felt so poorly after the birth - I bonded with her when we came home.
What's a Lulla Vibe pad? I think I want one!

It's one of these. You put it under the mattress and it vibrates. Halo loves vibration so thought I'd give one a go.

My DH has the ring time of Fraggle Rock on his phone when i call!!! The vibrating pad sounds great. Might invest.
Good day today (yesterday). Went to play group with DS although I'm sure he shuts off and then sleeps through most of it! Door bouncer arrived which is great fun! X

Have you seen the Rainforest Bouncer Fraggle? One to invest in from eBay - it'll keep him entertained for a good five/ten minutes!

Thanks Val. Will have a look. I think DS is ready to sit up and do things for himself but just isn't quite there yet. I think he's mentally 5 months but just hasn't got the body to match x

We have the Fisherprice Rainforest mat Artie used to love but now that she's crawling she hates been stuck on her back - except when she's tired or lazy and she can lay on that thing for hours!

Feel like a zombie. Halo just keeps having bad nights and it takes ages to calm him down, had to use his nebulizer because he got himself in such a state. I nearly resorted to putting him in the nursery but moving his monitors around is a PITA.

I wonder what's making him feel unsettled at night? It's so difficult when they can't tell you?
Apparently my DD woke up at 2am but I was so knackered I slept through it!
Looking rough today though from a week of patchy sleep.
Picked up a bargain lily print top at H and M yesterday to cheer myself up.

The OT think that's SPD related. She says it's quite common and a hard one to grow out of. She says that a good consitant bedtime routine will help and so will regular OT sessions but isn't a quick fix we just have to plough through it.

I love H&M clothes! :)

Sensory processing disorder right? Funnily enough I'm learning about that in my current role. Perhaps I can help along the way.

No plans today but I may take DC to the park :)
