MissRee · 29/06/2012 20:25

Yay I get first (second?) post Grin

We managed not to get rained on today but it was far too hot to be trekking with the buggy. I nearly melted! We had a yummy lunch with Nanny though and then bought two dresses to try on for a wedding later in the year. Debenhams sale is fab - dresses were £22.50 each!

aethelfleda · 29/06/2012 20:30

Ooh Debenhams. I got my best ever funky cocktail dress from there sigh. in the sale for £40 but I love it. unfortunately I am presently two dress sizes too big for it.

Attempt number 3 to put DS down....it's sticky and yucky and brewing a thunderstorm over here.

Seven, i'd say the first night we did the there-there baby tool about half an hour to settle (of going in every two minutes). The next night was 15 mins, the next night ten, and after that about 5 mins (sona couple of extra
Night nights did it).

MissRee · 29/06/2012 20:33

These are brightly patterned cotton-y type material with a mesh underskirt and belted waist so formal enough for a wedding without being too OTT. just concerned one of them is strapless so now have bra issues Grin

KateM77 · 29/06/2012 20:34

Marking place. And loving the thread title aethel Grin

AWomanCalledHorse · 29/06/2012 20:45

aethel, good luck putting DS down! We've been trying since 7 here, he went for a 15min power nap & has decided it's time to chat.

Hurrah for your bargains MissRee, I luff Debenhams but our local store is so shite it's put me off...although John Lewis is my favourite store ever, ever...love all the kids clothes (just can't justify buying DS more than one outfit at £28 when he's this little).

What's the plan for this weekend ladies?

seven77 · 29/06/2012 20:55

Ironing done.

missree have you tried bravissimo?

aethel I'll try from tomorrow. DS was such a textbook baby I'm not used to having one so difficult! She settled herself anyway but I did pick her up once. She kept crying so I was an evil mummy and put herdown again.

aethelfleda · 29/06/2012 21:03

it's all gone quiet. Beer and knitting for a little bit and then bed (DH is out tonight). School fair tomorrow and Operation Reclaim
the boobs starts (though I think I will feed him morning, lunchtime and possibly an evening one if I feel sad about it or my boobs explode).

LittleMissFlustered · 29/06/2012 21:04

It's humid out!

mopsytop · 29/06/2012 21:29

Hi all!

seven, I do the there there pat shush routine too, I started it at 8 weeks (although if she was really howling I picked her up, calmed her, then put her straight back down). It took a lot of going up and down to her at first and a lot of patting and calming (at least 3 hrs a night for the first six weeks or so) but it really paid off as now I only have to go in once or twice, generally. I used to run her tummy and kiss her face to calm her, nowadays I stroke her face with the furry paw of her super soft bear and it really calms her down. She still cries every bedtime but now it's 10-15 minutes usually. It was quite a lot of effort at first though.

Husband is out so after picking minimopsy up from nursery at 5:45 it took me until 8:45 to get her fed, bathed, changed, settled in her cot, bottles washed & sterilised and new ones made for tomo. It must be so much more time consuming with two!! Now relaxing with a book and glass of wine-I can't remember who it was but ages ago someone on this thread said she remembered a lovely Friday night in (pre-baby) with a book and a glass of chilled White wine curled up onthe sofa and wondered would she every experience it again. Well I am proof that it's possible!!

Have a lovely evening y'all, back to my suitably trashy chick lit erudite and intellectual book ...

mopsytop · 29/06/2012 21:33

And aethel, Kate, mega good luck on the reclaim the boobs mission!

Oi, table news pls! And how much junk did they leave?

Figgygal · 29/06/2012 21:37

Place marking!!

Figgygal · 29/06/2012 22:02

Just watched the muppets movie it was awesome Grin

MissRee · 29/06/2012 22:09

Another of the shush/hush clan here! Although I try not to actually talk to her because that just gets her grinning like a goon and wakes her up more! I tend to shhhhh, put the dummy back in (which stops the crying) and walk out of the room. I think tonight I only went in once to reinsert the dummy. She ONLY has a dummy for sleepytime (Inc. daytime naps) though, so I'm confident she won't be a dummy-toting toddler and I'll be stopping dummy usage straight away if it looks likely

I have indeed tried Bravissimo, Seven. it's where I got my black strapless bra from. I just don't find them comfortable or supportive at all I need scaffolding for these puppies

BeeMyBaby · 29/06/2012 22:28

dying in the heat, no airconditioning, it's after 10pm and still over 30c. so glad we wil be back in the uk in 3 days!
congrats to oi and air on the lovely crawling babies on fb! dd2 started moving a couple weeks ago and it's finally turned into a crawl after being a slug drag, she's also pulling herself up to stand so very different from dd1 who was over 10 months when she did these things. we also think she said Vava earlier to dh, or more accurately vavavavava, least it's the right sound.
I've been reading all your weaning stories with envy, currently weaning dd2 is just a means to an end and not pleasant - it is like baby torture, can't wait to get her back in a high chair!

seven77 · 29/06/2012 22:40

bee I think I'd better stop moaning about Eva's bedroom being over 24 degrees! She can't be pulling up to standing already, they're all still tiny babies

Life sucks :(

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 30/06/2012 06:29

My mum got a bargain in Debenhams on Thursday - brought her outfit for our wedding.

Re putting to sleep. I lay Sky down in her cot, feed her, turn her to her tummy, pat on back for a couple of minutes and she's away with the fairies Smile

Air Hopefully it will get better and Air will stop crying himself to sleep soon.

48 days to wedding ladies Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 30/06/2012 06:31

Air regarding Nits. Get a nitty gritty comb, tea tree oil shampoo & conditioner. Wash hair, leave conditioner in and comb thru every other day for 2 weeks that should get rid of the buggers! Smile

hawthers · 30/06/2012 06:49

air hope life gives you a break soon

Re putting to sleep f just pops himself off to sleep. Sometimes he drinks his milk half asleep already so I wind him still and pop him down. If he is awake I do the same. He sometimes has a little shout not crying but making a little bit of noise so I listen over the monitor and head back up if it seems he won't settle and I'm a wuss so it doesn't take much! But I'd say once a week I have to go back up. He sucks his fingers which helps I think.

First bday present was almost a full nights sleep. F wibbled in the night, I went through to feed but just rotated him away from the bars in readiness to pick him up and he settled himself!

KateM77 · 30/06/2012 07:28

Happy birthday hawthers

Last breastfeed done. In theory!
