Just a copy and paste from the old thread from BlackeyedSusan
Sorry to hear of that BES. Hope it soon improves.

I am feeling a bit sorry for myself today. after a slow start yesterday, I finlly got quite a lot of washing done, (yay) and cooked some tea for last night and the freezer. Unfortunately, one of the bags leaked onto the floor and I slipped in bolognaise and jammed my toes under the cooker. I had to lift the cooker to get them out. TMI warning......... big toe nail is broken half way down and bled but still attached I think. Hurt like hell last night, but I have had a previous encounter with a stair gate which helped me not to panic as everything turned out ok then. I also have very sore tummy muscles from lifting the cooker in an awkward position.

amberlight · 13/03/2011 13:52

CD,LPG, thanks!

BES, prayers aplenty for your limpings and eek situation. Foot up if you can.

For me, please can people spare a small prayer for continued ok-ness with this chemotherapy for breast cancer, and for my family and friends to cope with all of this. If detail helps, from what we know so far I have a 50/50 chance of making it through the next 3 years 'cos this is a tricky sort that doesn't respond to the new drugs. If the chemo works over the next 6 months it becomes an 8 in 10 chance instead, which sounds better. Er, thanks Blush

Teaandcakeplease · 13/03/2011 13:59

Tried a new church this morning. I've been at Soul Survivor for years but DD isn't terribly happy there in the childrens work and I'd heard good things about this church. I went to the 9am service and was early everyone was very kind to me and the children. They seemed to enjoy it, so I might go again tbh. I'm not planning to leave SSW, just enjoying a rest somewhere else I think. Unless God says differently.

All ok here though Poppy, I'm just doing a lot of cleaning, tidying, decluttering etc. It's verging on nesting but I think now I'm divorced I'm enjoying using what little money I do have for nik naks for my little place. ExH still seeing the kids lots and all is well.

Teaandcakeplease · 13/03/2011 14:03

Oh yes a quick prayer, my neighbour opposite is selling his place and it would be wonderful if my new neighbour was as considerate about noise and kind etc. My current neighbour will be sorely missed, he even did my DIY for me when needed, he was a man in his 50's who was a park ranger and was just a dependable guy to have next door. Never disturbed the children or I at night, it was so nice to have him next door. I'm feeling quiet anxious that I could end up with a hideous new neighbour, which is not what I need with 2 LO's as a lone parent.

madhairday · 13/03/2011 14:23

Hello all, shiny new thread, thanks CD and Poppy :)

BES - ouch, you poor thing, hope you recover soon!

TACP, praying that you will get a lovely new neighbour.

Amber, praying for the chemo, sending lots of love to you and your family. Praying that in this time of uncertainty you will have the certainty of God's presence and experience his love and care surrounding you xx

Poppy, hope it is going well today, continued prayers.

CD, how is DD?

Mary, how are you, how was church this am?

Things ok in mhd land - dd a lot better, back at church today. Having a rest this afternoon then got cell group tonight. PLease can you continue to pray fro friends dd with anorexia etc, she's been transferred much further away so friend has to spend every weekend there now, she had recently started coming to church so prayers that God will hold her in this time and keep her in him. thanks.

madhairday · 13/03/2011 14:24

Oooh just noticed this thread title, has made shiver go through me, will explain soon Grin

LibraPoppyGirl · 13/03/2011 14:37

Hello, great new thread Smile

Just about to make myself a cup of coffee and then start going over my list for tomorrow and making other notes too. I started writing in a notebook a week ago today with everything I have to do, new and old, and some bits on how I feel in there too. It is truly God sent, my precious notebook Grin

Reading through my Bible for comfort earlier and want to share a well loved verse with you all.

I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

God, be with us all, as we journey through life and keep us safe in your arms. Amen xx

CaptainDippy · 13/03/2011 15:11

Lots of prayers, as always honey Smile xx

Aw, so sad you will be losing your lovely neighbour TACP Sad Boo!! Really praying his replacement is equally as amazing!! Smile

Life in Curlyworld is carrying on as usual. God bless each and everyone of you and your loved ones.

PositiveAttitude · 13/03/2011 21:31

Marking my spot and will return tomorrow when my brain might actually be awake. Or at 3am, if it is anything like this morning Hmm.

thejaffacakesareonme · 13/03/2011 22:03

Good evening ladies and thanks CD and Poppy.

Life is carrying along pretty much as usual here too. Last week though I got a bit stressed about a variety of things. There wasn't any particular reason, I just did. I have always been a bit of a control freak and find it difficult to trust God sometimes and think this was at the root of it. Last week I had a mental picture in my head of a rope bridge. I can believe in my head that a rope bridge will hold my weight but as I am scared of heights I would do just about anything to avoid putting my trust in it. In the same way, it hit me last week that although I believe God will not let me fall I was finding it hard to put my trust in him because I was trying to rely on myself rather than him. Now I am trying to put my faith in him and step onto that ropebridge. Hope this makes sense!

Prayers for all.

blackeyedsusan · 13/03/2011 22:25

the toe looks and sounds worse than it is turning out to be so far. our family is wary of poorly toes as my gran's went septic and she lost a leg. (eek) The limp is mainly due to trying not to joggle it in my shoes or walking around and putting too much weight on it (wimp). it has even survived being trodden on twice by 2 little pandas. It was quite scary at the time as I was on my own with the children (as usual) and I was worried that it wasn't going to come out from underneath the cooker.

Church now know that we are not living together though they don't know any of the details. They are quite keen that we go to counselling I think. H has done all the counselling he can and still did not take it seriously enough to do what he should have and take a time out. It is not recommended to go together until there has been no violence for 1 year. we are getting separate rooms for the weekend away. I am expecting a call from the pastoral worker now they know, though no-one has called to see where we have been for 2 months. hey ho!

got a busy day tomorrow as i have a meeting for ds re speach therapy in the evening but, thank God that I have got a friend to babysit and they have been able to give me a later slot for the morning appointments as someone cancelled.

thanks do* I wondered where you all were. cross posted and distracted by small boy hitting the keyboard this morning.

amber praying that the chemo works and for ds.

tacp 9am?!? wow! impressive

mary Have prayed. without giving too much away, is it decisions or discussions about something you are involved in/ was in or direction of the church(trying to be vague) don't worry if you can't say, God knows. Post again on tuesday am and i will pray again. (attention span of a goldf....

PositiveAttitude · 14/03/2011 10:01

Hi all you lovely ladies,

Just popping in from work, so a quickie....

Please pray for our DD4. Lots of baggage from her first 3 years of life in a Russian Orphanage, in a "dying room". Things are coming to the fore at the moment, causing lots of problems for her. One specific thing I want to mention is that she is "squirrelling" away food, food that she says she has eaten. This is the 2nd time we have discovered a different hiding place. Clearing up a mess she had made this morning I discovered a mass of toast (breakfasts) and sandwiches (lunches) that had obviously been hidden over the past months. LOADS!!! I dont know what to do! please pray. Sad

DutchOma · 14/03/2011 10:23

PA that has me in tears. That darling precious girl, hugs for her and for you. There is nothing you can do except love her through it, assure her of your love and prayers. Do you have any support through the adoption agency?

amberlight · 14/03/2011 10:34

PA, sounds like the GP needs to do some thinking and see if there's a way to get your DD into contact with some lovely specialists on eating/food problems. Much can be done in many cases.

Much prayer for everyone...

blackeyedsusan · 14/03/2011 11:43

would it help in the short term to provide her with a packet or two of buscuits or something similar that won't go off so quickly? (or would that make it worse?)

MaryBS · 14/03/2011 12:26

PA, I could try speaking to my SIL, to see if she can suggest anything. My lovely adopted niece had a habit of eating as much food as she can, because due to neglect, she didn't always know where/when her next meal was coming from :(. I guess in many ways it is similar, your DD is hiding food to keep for when she is hungry?

Evensong went well last night. Praise God. Also spent some quality time in church this morning with a friend. A real TRULY REAL blessing, for which I also thank God!

BES, the PCC will effectively be working on things which will affect the future of the church, including choosing representatives to pick the next vicar. There are a huge variety of worship preferences in our church, and its hard to meet all of them, but there are some who want to return to a more traditional way of worship, or a different theology/style of worship, and if wrong choices are made, it could tear the church in two :(

madhairday · 14/03/2011 12:31

Just popping on to say praying for DD4, PA...

blackeyedsusan · 14/03/2011 14:25

OUCH my toe has been trodden on again. the nail is no longer attached on one side and is weeping. i would like to see the gp but can't get til tomorow due to speech therapy tonight. if it deteriorates i will have to go to the walk in centre. ( though I will not be walking in)

mary phew what an important meeting. i have prayed and will try again later.

MaryBS · 14/03/2011 17:18

Much sympathy, BES. I lost a toe nail once (due to DH treading on the tip - it ripped it out!), and know what it feels like! In a way its worse if its still attached, because there is still something to "snag".

Lovely bible study this afternoon, very good discussion and a good start to Lent I think. Also spent time this morning in prayer with a friend, and then we went round the church, looking at the (modern) stations of the cross, pausing at each one, and thinking about the symbolism expressed in the posters - see here

DutchOma · 14/03/2011 19:19

Mary I went to Turvey Abbey once and was taken round their embroidery room. There was a Dutch sister working there, can't remember her name.
Daily Bread Co-operative (where Bob worked for nearly 25 years) have a wall hanging made by the sisters of Turvey.
It is a hugely inspirational place and only a busride away from us.

CazandBelle · 14/03/2011 20:25

Just popping in to pray for PA DD4. You must be at your wits end. What a difficult situation. I pray that your daughter feels peace inside and is comforted in whatever is troubling her to do this.

Feeling constantly "hungover" tired and sick here. Which is reassuring and I'm glad but green around the gills!

gingercurl · 14/03/2011 21:11

Praying Mary and PA.
