Tearoom 25 - Benvenute a Venezia!

YOu find us this time in a glorious palazzo in Venice, near to St. Mark's square, and on the water. With gondolas and vaporetti in abundance to transport us around to the various sights etc.

The palazzo itself of course has marble floors and fabulous murano chandeliers but aside of that we have the usual distressed chintz comfy sofas, assorted animals, bishops in their corner, priesthole for emergencies and a single solitary aspidistra in a bomb-proof glass cage to protect it from the ravages of a certain Canadian.

All are welcome - drop by for a cuppa, a glass of something stronger and a chat and relax in the safe and kind surroundings here.

Cin cin! Wine

Just popping in to make sure I can find it again!

Forgot to say hello to BsshBosh!! Waves!! :o

amberlight · 08/04/2011 07:02

::Amber clambers off the gondola, ably assisted by Mellors the gardener/handyperson::

Hellooooo! Great new location!! Cappucino for me, I think...anyone else for a nice Italian breakfast and something to Brew?

::puts out the helicopter landing pad direction notices for Donki and arranges the hay pile, without putting too much of it in her handbag...::

Tee2072 · 08/04/2011 07:12

How fab to fall asleep in SF and wake up in Venice!

Latte for me please.

Off to Farmer's Market today. Anyone want any local produce?

amberlight · 08/04/2011 07:43

Yes please - can I have some watercress, some beetroot and a couple of nice lettuces?

::hands over latte::

Tee2072 · 08/04/2011 08:03

No problem amber. Thanks for the latte!

UniS · 08/04/2011 10:14

teeny tiny gondola, how cute.

UniS arrives by pedelo.

CMOTdibbler · 08/04/2011 10:23

I notice the bishops are looking very elegant - obviously embracing the italian chic.

Gorgeous here today - ds bounced off to holiday club in shorts and sunhat. He is coming home filthy and exhausted every day, which is a great sign. Esp as I am abandoning dh next week (and this afternoon/tomorrow too, but thats only to Windsor)

Donki · 08/04/2011 12:33

Oh the joys of trying to evade quarantine - without Mellors I'd have been stuck at the border for MONTHS.

Have Earl and Lady Grey arrived yet?
I don't know what the Venetians will make of the heard of Bison!

OOOOOH! my haypile. Thankyou kind people. It looks a bit smaller than it used to be.....

Oh look! The NMBs all have teeny tiny life-jackets on.

MaryBS · 08/04/2011 13:44

Wow, just LOOK at all the Venetian glass!

mistlethrush · 08/04/2011 14:06

Icecreams all round?

Posted on previous thread... so this will just be short!

A friend and I went interrailing together and 'did' Italy fairly well for 3 weeks rather than trying to get to every country - we thought hotels in venice would be a nightmare - but we found a place in the first one we phoned - the only trouble with it was the the whole place smelt of cats - but compared to some of the places we stayed it was very acceptable! We meant to get up early and get to St Marks before all the tourists but very unusually slept late - due I think to the lack of traffic noise for one thing.

Tee2072 · 08/04/2011 15:07

Where have we stuck the entrance to the priesthole? LCT slept for a grand total of 40 minutes in his pram today and I need to go hide and sleep for awhile...

UniS · 08/04/2011 15:09

I think the heard of bison will do just fine in venice, no one need see them, they will only be heard of, bison.

amberlight · 08/04/2011 15:29

:: Amber pins up the Elf 'n Safety notices to the Palazzo walls*, and puts some hazard tape round the entrance to the Priest Hole so that people can find it::

Who put the Bison in that gondola? Shock That'll be a fortune in extra tips and the gondola will never be the same again!

*New Items: No Putting Bison in the Gondola. Do not Feed the Bishops Too Much Gelato as it's Bad for their Waistline and No Gigolos after 3 in the Morning. These, along with the other rules, are of course only for my entertainment and are routinely ignored by everyone Biscuit

amberlight · 08/04/2011 15:29

snigger re bison joke Grin

oxeye · 08/04/2011 19:34

Another snigger re bison joke*

Look! The NMBs are wearing stripey tops under their life jackets and waving cornettos around!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/04/2011 19:43

::Wonders how easy it will be to tell the bishops and the gigolos apart::

Scout19075 · 08/04/2011 20:05

Can someone pass me blankets and fluids?

I think I have flu and I am not impressed. Very hard being on for Toddler when I've felt like cr@p the last three days (longer, really, but everything really hit three days ago). Going to go to the drop-in clinic tomorrow.

amberlight · 08/04/2011 20:23

Oh no re the flu! Have a Brew and a nice lie down on the distressed chintz sofa whilst Mellors mops your fevered brow for you.

Maud, surprisingly hard in some cases, I expect. May have to label the Bishops very carefully to make sure there's no Incidents of Tabloid Note.

purpleknittingmum · 08/04/2011 20:35

::Blankets for scout only had flu once, hope you feel better soon

Gorgeous day here!!

Feel quite excited!! We have now finally got carpet in the lounge and hall and today bought a shelf unit thing from a local charity shop which looks rather lovely in the lounge! Wanted to get some from Argos but the ones we wanted are now discontinued. Just need something for our bedroom. We still have loads of bits not fully unpacked yet

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/04/2011 20:54

Amber, I had been worrying about that. If the bishops are decked out in Armani it could all get rather confusing.

Yay for PKM's home improvements! And boo for Scout's flu.

::Sends bunch of tulips from the Jardin de Maud::

Scout19075 · 08/04/2011 22:07

I've never had flu. But seem to have all the symptoms -- ears ache, sore throat, face ache (as in, sinus headaches), achey all over and shivery (I haven't been warm in days, despite the fab weather).

TS has been extremely good the last few days, too. Almost like he knows. I expect I'll pay for it later.

Though, oh wise women with children older than TS, is this clingy or cuddly? TS has taken to following me around, sitting near me playing or wanting to sit on my lap while he reads or plays. He's not been whingey about it, I just seem to turn around and he's there. At Toddlers today he'd go and play then stop what he was doing, come running over, give me a cuddle (complete with "aaaawwwwww") then run off and play again. If we're out walking (like going to the playground) he's happy to walk alone but would regularly come over and hold my hand as we walked.

Tee, what time did LCT get to bed for the night?

Yay for PKM's home improvements.

Lovely tulips, Maud.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/04/2011 23:14

You're welcome! I wish we still had the daffodil emoticon.

I think that sounds like cuddly. If he'd refused to play on his own at all at toddler group and spent all his time on your lap, then I might think it was clingy, but that sounds just dandy to me.

Have you got anything to take for your symptoms? Go get yourself checked over in the morning.
