KurriKurri · 20/05/2012 13:02

yes please to Brew jane, and a misshape, yum.

24 eh? - we are a proper grown up thread now Grin

snoopygirl · 20/05/2012 13:15

Well done ladies on your 24th Thread!

kuri/smee My DS was 6 in Jan. We had family staying last night so his cousin distracted him which was handy. Just hope he's ok tonight -you know how they can get in a rut with things. I thik I need (on basic level) to keep him informed and don't know how I'm going to feel after Wed chemo. And picc line going in on Tues which he will notice. So can't really keep it from him.
MAS thanks for your good wishes

the night that sounds horrid. Didn't have any bloody dramas like that all straight forward apart from being Radioactive.

Off to 5yr olds party at 2.30 so better get wrapping present!
Have a good day all. x

graciesmall09 · 20/05/2012 13:28

MIL was over yesterday so have lots and lots of cake for the trolley.

snoopy my youngest is 7, a very sensitive 7 and my 2 boys are 12 and 15. the boys have had a couple of wobbles but are coping quite well. My DD is finding it a little harder to cope. She doesn't actually know what is wrong with me just that mummy isn't very well but is having some medicine to make her feel better. She didn't cope with me being admitted to hospital but has taken the picc line and severe lack of hair completely in her stride. She has had a big breakout of her eczema which I think may be stress related but I have had plenty of things to keep her occupied. Hope your little DS is ok. I found it helped DD a bit by allowing her to stay in and watch the nurse flush my picc line as she knew mummy wasn't being hurt.

Lots of people seem to be missing in action. Waves to you all and hope you are ok. Still no word from topsy and sometimes?

DD had her first dance exam this morning. Think it went well but probably not the best place for me to be. I was in a very small room with 27 coughing and sneezing children and about 15 parents - no windows and closed door. I was boiled, couldn't wait to get out but we weren't allowed out of the room until everyone had finished so 2.5 hours of hell.

snoopygirl · 20/05/2012 14:00

thanks gracie. They do seem to have a fascination with stuff like that, He knows picc being fitted tues so will no doubt want to see it. Did the Chemo team give you a waterproof sock to go over it? How many rounds of chemo have you had so far? How are you coping?

topsyturner · 20/05/2012 14:07

Am here , lurking , just still feeling a bit yak . Talking about me maybe getting out on Tuesday , but was told not to hold my breath ...

Internet is v sporadic here so not posting much .
But love (and tuc biscuits) to you all !

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2012 14:12

oh gracie that does sound like hell ! hope dd did well Smile
ds was 12 and we didn't actually tell him face to face that I had bc,but he obviously picked it up and didn't seem (outwardly) bothered by it- he is a quiet boy,but I think quite secure. When he was much younger 7 or 8, he did suffer from anxieties about dying,or something bad happening to him, but seems to have grown out of it. I don't think my way was the best way though

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2012 14:13

hey topsy we're missing you like mad ! get better soon, sometimes too.

OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 20/05/2012 14:51

Feel like I've missed loads - hope everyone OK this afternoon.

topsy love, we missed you! Take it easy, and hope you can get home soon.

snoopy My DS is nearly 5, and I told him he could ask whatever questions he wanted, which he did, on and off. I made sure that he knew who was picking him up from school, what was for tea etc. so that the basics of his life were sorted out and clear for him. I kept the language really simple, said I had to have "nasty medicine" to kill the bugs in my sore booby. I told him that it would make me tired and maybe a bit grumpy. Just give him lots of hugs and tell him it's OK to be scared, and you'll all get through it together. Big hugs to you all x x x x

kurri hope you can get your roof sorted. How's your neck? Bit better, I hope x x

gracie sounds hard work! Hope DD pleased with how she got on. When is your next chemo?

Waves to MAS - loving the latest blog entries!

snoopygirl · 20/05/2012 14:57

Thanks ned.
Escaped the kids party Grin!

graciesmall09 · 20/05/2012 15:42

Topsy hope you are being well looked after and fingers crossed you get released soon.

snoopy I have my picc covered with a tubigrip which the chemo nurse changes each week and I was given horrible plastic elasticated sleeves for the shower. They aren't the hardest wearing so make sure they give you plenty. I have had 2 chemo (6 to go) and in honesty my first 4 days are pretty horrible for me as I have been very sick. I was admitted for rehydration last session but not everyone is as sick. Hopefully you will be fine. I was warned I may be very sick as I had hyperemesis in pregnancy. good luck this week with your first.

ned Hope you are sprawled on the sofa digesting that lovely pub lunch. Next chemo 30th Sad. Are you due this week?

mas DD did her best which is fine by me. We were at practice yesterday and the teacher lost the plot with another group of children and DD cried the whole way through the class so to be honest I was just delighted she went today and managed to get through her slot with no mishaps.

NedSchneebly · 20/05/2012 15:50

Next chemo tomorrow morning gracie Hoping it won't be as dramatic as last time!

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2012 16:33

good for dd gracie bless her.
ned loads of luck tomorrow, hope everything goes smoothly. Thanks for reading my blog- I was talking about it to my bcn and the fact that it;s very exposing,I suppose - sometimes I feel I've said too much- it shocks me a bit as I am quite private about things, and this seems out of character. She said to stop if it feels too much and isn't helping me...so I thought I might lighten up a bit ! She says she doesn't really like social networking things at all.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 20/05/2012 16:46

well done gracie's DD, especially for coping after teacher was shouty yesterday.

topsy - fingers crossed for tuesday, you must be pretty fed up by now Sad we are stocking up on orange men and FBS for when you get back Smile

Columbia - 3 verses is a lot of singing - you are very brave! - but excellent that you get to do some stick poking too Grin

Ned Envy of your pub lunch. I'm going to,make a fish pie, but I don't really feel like cooking. Neck was a bit better but I pulled something again earlier trying to move a box, and now it hurts again. Very annoying.

Snoopy well done on escaping the party Grin

We've just been for a long walk with the dog, - we heard a cuckoo while we were out Smile When we got home we gave the dog a haircut and a bath - she's giving me evil looks from her basket!

MAS would you mind linking to your blog again?, I've lost the link. I think its a great idea Smile

graciesmall09 · 20/05/2012 16:48

Ned hope it all goes well for you tomorrow and this time it is a lot easier.

mas some people like social networking some don't. DH just can't understand why anyone would want to use facebook, etc and just rolls his eyes when I log on. You do what is best for you, if you are enjoying your blog (which is very good btw) then don't be influenced by your bcn.

snoopygirl · 20/05/2012 16:51

Oh bugger gracie I also had horrendous sickness whilst pregnant. I have already told them and she said she's given me extra anti sick stuff for it. Hope it's enough. Although i was trying to get pregnant before I got DX I was still dreading actually being pregnant again.

ned Hope it goes ok fr you tomorrow.

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2012 17:05

Will link again kk
Yes, I agree, social networking isn't everyone's cup of tea- I love it ! and it's brilliant for my work too. I just feel a little shocked at my being so open-I think I sort of believe that only a few people will read it - I could never actually express these things verbally.

It was yummy kurri and nice to treat DSis who's been down for the weekend. here is the menu I had the vegetarian pantry plate, down left hand column. Mmmm. . . Smile I think I might have been meant for sharing . . . Blush

Fluffybubble · 20/05/2012 17:33

Hi all

I am finally joining you :) I hope that's okay.

Thank you to all of you that helped on my lump thread, things have now moved on and I had a mastectomy a week and a half ago. I am still a bit uncomfortable, but am much better than a week ago!

I have my op results on 28th and will then be having chemo at some point. The consultant was fairly confident that the bc would not be in my nodes but they found it there when I was operated on so they did a level 2 clearance.

Hopefully all will become clearer after the next appointment. I have to say that all of the staff have been so lovely, I feel pretty lucky.

Anyway, I will continue to lurk! I am still staying with my mum and have limited internet access but I will be back :)

NedSchneebly · 20/05/2012 17:44

Hi fluffy welcome, but sorry you have to come this way, iyswim! I missed your thread, but just had a read of it, and sounds positively treatable. DEFINTELY stay away from dr google! Our own amber has all the latest stats at her fingertips, and is a much more reliable source of info!

The waiting for results is the pits. Hang out with us, and we can hold your hand through whatever happens x x

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2012 18:15

fluffy glad you have joined us, but sorry too ! ned is right as amber is stats queen and much more realiable than google !

Hi fluffy, welcome to the club nobody wants to be a member of! Hope you're healing well after your mastectomy and that the chemo won't be too rotten. x
Blimey, I got onto a Tamoxifen thread on the first page instead of the 91st for a change! Grin

KurriKurri · 20/05/2012 18:32

Hi Fluffy, - sorry you find yourself here, but you are very welcome - hope we can support you through this business. Smile

ned - that menu looks really good, - I'd have chosen the veggie pantry plate too (and scoffed it all myself also Grin) I might have managed to squeeze in the Eton Mess too Blush
