I am fortunate in that I am done with my Christmas shopping (I usually start early but started earlier this year as I was concerned about availability/delivery issues)
A few observations since last year/previous years:
Items from Europe are taking a lot longer to arrive and the shipping costs are eye watering.
Items from further afield are cheaper but taking months to arrive.
Huge gaps in the grocery shops shelves - I've been noticing it for a while now but I guess Christmas has brought it into sharp relief.
Simple items like fruit juice, eggs, milk, certain cleaning products....nothing niche or special. Worrying.
More worrying is the difficulty getting every day otc medications...so much so I've had to resort to online pharmacies to source even simple aspirin.
I am very concerned - but not surprised - to hear of DRs difficulties getting parts for his DWs wheelchair. My mum is getting frailer and taking her into shops in a wheelchair has been...eye opening.
All in all its turned into a bit of a fuckfest hasn't it?
And sadly, covid has become an excuse for many brexit related problems.
