Hi,

Longtime lurker and poster (under various nn) on Westminstenders and these threads.

I'm afraid the other thread op pissed me off a lot so here's another option for those of us that want one.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and good luck for 2022.

I’m another lurker (some of the time anyway). My family are all donating to the RNLI this Christmas because of the life saving work they’ve been carrying out in the Channel.

Happy Christmas 🎄

Happy Christmas!

The RNLI have been doing amazing work on the Channel despite some people trying to stop them.

Imagine that? People trying to stop volunteers saving children from drowning?

I found some of the comments about the RNLI absolutely tragic and ashamed to hold a British passport Angry

NB: I don't say that I am British. That ship has sailed Hmm (apologies for the metaphor).

I will whoever continue to be proud that I am Scottish Grin

....my refugee camp is still available Smile

I am fortunate in that I am done with my Christmas shopping (I usually start early but started earlier this year as I was concerned about availability/delivery issues)

A few observations since last year/previous years:

Items from Europe are taking a lot longer to arrive and the shipping costs are eye watering.

Items from further afield are cheaper but taking months to arrive.

Huge gaps in the grocery shops shelves - I've been noticing it for a while now but I guess Christmas has brought it into sharp relief.

Simple items like fruit juice, eggs, milk, certain cleaning products....nothing niche or special. Worrying.

More worrying is the difficulty getting every day otc medications...so much so I've had to resort to online pharmacies to source even simple aspirin.

I am very concerned - but not surprised - to hear of DRs difficulties getting parts for his DWs wheelchair. My mum is getting frailer and taking her into shops in a wheelchair has been...eye opening.

All in all its turned into a bit of a fuckfest hasn't it?

And sadly, covid has become an excuse for many brexit related problems.

I'm not going to bore you all with my thoughts on the state of the nhs... but having sadly been having to attend a&e fairly regularly with mum since August (she had a uti - she was refused a f2f appointment at the drs and developed sepsis..) I will say this: don't get sick and dont get old in brexit Britain.

When the gammons first started kicking off against the RNLI, I set up a monthly direct debit. Fuck the lot of them, these are real human beings in distress we're talking about.

Also place cat king.

@Opal8 - Glasgow was/is fine with both Arwen and Barra. There was one leylandii (part of a hedge) partially down in a street close to us (blocking the pavement) after Arwen buy that was all the damage we saw. And Glasgow's missed the snow with Barra - there was a bit of sleet mixed in with the rain at about 1 (when dh and I went out for our windy daily constitutional Hmm) but that was it.

Peregrina · 07/12/2021 19:50

Ah nice black cats. Sadly my own two passed away some years ago.

I have been an RNLI subscriber for many years, and it angers me to see a bunch of Brexit louts stopping at least one lifeboat going out to rescue people. These are volunteers who often risk their own lives when they go out, don't forget. But I know I am preaching to the converted here.

The second the red wall tory voters start bleating it's over for De Pfeffle Hunt has been very busy in the wings
