Unlinked because I can't remember how to do it, and can't find Help thing.

Thanks eggandonion!

Checking in on the new thread BrewCake

LadyEloise · 14/01/2021 14:06

Thank you eggandonion.
Checking in too.

Did you see where they reinstated the Golfgate Senators on the day when the media and the people of Ireland were taken up with the Commission of Investigation into Mothers and Baby Homes.

A new low.

eggandonion · 14/01/2021 14:08

I still can't work out how to do links, despite 10 minutes of trying. I'll blame my phone.
I hope I get a vaccine with Bill Gates microchip to help me, the 5g isn't improving my skills.
It's a lovely day here, my dd2 is working from my dd1s bedroom. Its very sunny, she's too hot. What a problem.

Wow.

I didn't see that.
Nothing surprises me anymore tbh.

Thanks for the new thread (I've lurked previously)

Placemarking!

eggandonion · 14/01/2021 14:41

Yes, our local one must be delighted . He always seems delighted with himself. I'd quite like a walk around a golf course and dinner just now though.

Thank you for the new thread.

Not a very proud time to be Irish. Worst in the world for covid numbers and now the mother & baby homes report Sad

I hadn't seen this either ... it's desperate timing. It really is a new low from them. Thank you for the new thread eggandonion.
IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/01/2021 16:17

Yes, I noticed that too (the golfgate senators). Despicable.

JaneJeffer · 14/01/2021 16:59

I've added the link to the old thread.

eggandonion · 14/01/2021 17:02

Excellent, I T expert!
Some Twitter person reckons 44percent vaccinated by the end of June, which would be good. But it depends on supply, and other vaccine being approved.

Pulling up a pew.

eggandonion · 14/01/2021 17:50

Has anyone got any gossip? I miss gossip.
I have a click and collect on Saturday, I hate the ordering bit and no human contact at collection. I booked it because my dd was waiting for a colleague to find out test results, but they were negative. So nobody has to restrict movement.
Biden's inauguration is my next exciting thing to watch. The ministers would all have loved a trip to DC this year.

My phone or Skype conversations now consist entirely of 'Well, we've done nothing since the last time we talked -- have you done anything?' 'Nope, and no one else I've spoken to has done anything.'

Cluas · 14/01/2021 18:06

Oh, apart from a friend in Washington whose children are fascinated by the number of troops passing.

Same. FIL asked me today "anything strange or any news with you?" I had nothing. No news at all.

On the upside, at least the covid case numbers are coming down, and the R0 is now down to 1-1.3.

A small light at the end of the tunnel while we watch the deaths mount up Sad

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 14/01/2021 22:13

Yes that's good, we have to hope that it won't get any worse 🤞🏻

Mam and I have been having a very detailed conversation about her hotpress.

I'd LOVE a bit of gossip - nothing nasty or serious, just something that isn't work related, Covid related, Trump related, kids related....

I miss the days of "guess who I ran into today?"

Pastasau · 15/01/2021 10:01

When do people think schools will reopen? I'm thinking after the Feb midterm?

thelegohooverer · 15/01/2021 10:39

I’m hoping for start of Feb, latest midterm. I think reopening schools will be a priority this time, once the numbers start to fall. And I’m hopeful that they will, once we get past the Christmas and New Year surges.

I’m really struggling now to make the effort to phone anyone. In the last lockdown we were all on zoom and having WhatsApp chats and sending memes. But now there’s just nothing to say.

The only news these days is the actual news, and I’m so tired of that!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 15/01/2021 11:22

I don't want to out myself so won't give too much detail but I received information at work that originated from Government office and said that current restrictions will be in place until the end of March. I then immediately received notification to ignore the typo about the end of March and that it should have just said that we are currently in lockdown Hmm So, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that we'll be locked down until end of March and schools (apart from special needs) will be shut until then as well. I could be wrong (about the schools) of couse. But I can't see them allowing a 'normal' St. Patrick's Day this year, I think it makes sense to keep the restrictions in place until after that.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 15/01/2021 11:26

I would agree with that, based on the high numbers. Thanks, LifeInAHamsterWheel.
