so i finished my first round of fertomid 50 and had a scan + the follicular maturation one,,,so here the result, on the 10thday of cycle no dominant follicle , endometrial thickness measures 3.4mm, uters is anterverted and 6.8 * 2.5cms
uterine myometrium shows homogeneous echo texture, no evidence of solid or cystic mass lesion
both ovaries appear normal in size, no adnexal mass is seen,,,so did scab again on 13th day and he said i have one follicle on my right ovary which measures 8 * 10 mm,,,(which should have been big, according to him) and Endometrial Thickness 4.6mm,,,,i dnt know where i went wrong :/ have been tryn for a baby for abt a year now,,husband's results came normal,,help :( am 23,,,and thses r new to me..

Hi Minx I am afraid I don't know much about fertomid but I have been on clomid for a while and I had a similar experience on my first cycle in that my consultant said at day 12 that there were no follicles big enough to ovulate on day 14. However, I did still ovulate that cycle ... just a little later than the consultant wanted.

Also, my consultant increased my dosage for the next cycle and everything was fine - since then I have had follicles ready to go each month.

The good news from your results is that there is nothing wrong with the ovaries and the endometral thickness looks pretty good too (although I'm no expert!).

Please don't think that you are doing anything wrong - sometimes it can take a while to fall pg even if everything is working as it should.

Has your consultant talked to you about your scan findings? Or said whether they will increase your dose etc?

Oh that is tricky - I felt really battered by lots of people telling me what 'should' be happening with my body. It made me feel that I just wasn't concentrating hard enough on growing eggs!

DH and I have been referred for IVF (there are some issues on both sides and we qualified for NHS funding so we thought why not!) and the wonderful consultant there said it is really damaging to put pressure on ourselves about TTC. Our bodies are as they are and there is not always a reason why some people need more time or higher doses than other people.

He said for most people, it is a question of when they will fall pg, not if, so we just need to be persistent. It's a rough old ride though so be kind to yourself too. And make sure your Drs are giving you the info you need.

When is your next scan? I will keep my fingers crossed

Hi Minx thanks for your best wishes about the IVF Smile we are very lucky that we have NHS support for it so we are going to do everything we can to make it work! I am 35 and DH is 37. He had some sperm morphology issues but has now given up smoking for almost 3 months, taken lots of supplements and tried to be a bit healthier so we are hoping that all his swimmers will be ready to go once we start!

Our first consultation is on the 18th of April and we may well start the IVF process in May.

I think you are right to try to conceive naturally first; it sounds like you are responding to the drugs so there is every chance that you will fall pg without intervention such as IUI. As long as you get your timings right and there are no issues with your partner's sperm, trying naturally should be just as good as IUI anyway.

Do you have your next scan this week?

Thank you Minx !

And yes, it's much better to have one follicle as it means your body is just having a bit of a nudge rather than being totally pushed around by the drugs.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you on Wednesday

Hi Minx it depends which scale and measurement technique they are using. Although 80% doesn't sound bad to me ... I'm no expert though! Grin

Hi, the good news is that it's growing so that means things are working, even if they are a little slower than you'd like. And don't write off this cycle; on my first cycle of clomid I was told I would not ovulate but I did.

Also great that your dosage is going to be increased so, even if it doesn't work for you this time around, you'll be ready go next cycle Smile

In terms of the weight loss, have you tried the GI diet? It's great for helping to regulate hormones as well as losing weight as it cuts down on the amount of insulin in your system and, for some women, inslulin interferes with the production of reproductive hormones.

How are you feeling about it all?

It's based around the idea of cutting out fast release carbohydrates (sugar, white bread / pasta / rice, sweet drinks etc) and eating 5 or 6 meals a day based on protein and slow release carbs (brown bread, brown pasta, quinoa, loads of pulses).

It's the first diet I tried that actually works for me!

Oh it's OK thanks; am 7or 8 DPO on my second to last cycle of clomid before starting the IVF drugs. It's kind of strange knowing IVF is coming up as it does take the pressure off the 2WW!

DPO is days past ovulation and 2WW is the 2 week wait (the bit between ovulation and AF arriving). Sorry! I use those so often I forget that they don't make sense to normal people! Grin
