DH has unconventional taste in names (to put it diplomatically - previous suggestions include Reef, Mowgli, and Roni) - his latest suggestion is Bosco - my immediate reaction was no but somehow it is growing on me. His (Irish) uncle was called Bosco but neither of us know anyone else of this name.
So honest opinions please - what do you think? (for the record I like more traditional names such as Noah and Gabriel although I also like a few unusual ones like Inigo although DH hates it)
It sounds vaguely Cornish to me, but no, I really don't like it.
Mowgli? Really??

It reminds me of Bosch, sorry
Yes, it is dreadful. As are his other suggestions.
Do not, under any circumstances, allow him to register the birth unaccompanied.

HA HAHA HAHA HHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHA HA
It sounds like someone off a 1980's US cop show - either the young, dumb rookie or the unkempt, slightly grimy, disillusioned old timer. Its a bit odd imo. But if you both like it, why not?
Oh dear god no!! You can't name your child after an Irish puppet
Fab cartoon from back in the day, a rite of passage for all Irish kids in the 70's, but not a good name.
I do know 1 elderly man called Bosco though.

excellent - lots of ammunition, thank you! Even DH wouldn't want to name his child after a pizza, beer or the Dukes of Hazard! We knew it meant forest in Italian but that just makes him like it more...
maybe I can do some partner swapping and have a Noah with diddl while my DH has a Mowgli with mananny

just spotted the Irish link
what's wrong with
Rafferty
Finnian
Malachy
....?

Roman - I LOVE Malachy but DH says it's not a 'proper' Irish name. He likes Killian (I can't get past the Kill part) Dara (don't like) and Tadgh (like the sound but don't know if I can cope with the spelling esp. as we live in England)

It is bad.
But it is better than Mowgli.

LOL thefallenmadonna - you see that was what I was worried about - that my judgement has become so skewed following all his utterly bizarre suggestions that Bosco actually seems like a perfectly reasonable name! Thank you all for putting me straight
