What nanny asked.

you really need stairgates unless you've got a downstairs bathroom if you're going to be napping and looking after a toddler!

It doesnt make you a twat but it's not the most rivetting reason to start a thread.

Sod the delivery -what about an unsupervised toddler around water?

Report
rainbowinthesky · 13/04/2010 13:10

I think the op means it was put in another room so she didnt hear it.

More twatish leaving a toddler roaming around with water in the bath.

aaaw that's not good, just apologise and explain. I know it's not ideal, but these things happen, at least the delivery was made and there was no real harm done. LIttle kids do random stuff like that at the worst moments, especially if you're really tired.

The phone will probably dry out if it's only been in water just take the battery etc out and leave it to air on a towel.

yanbu, I'm sure your friends will understand.

How did your ds get into the bathroom where the bath was filled with water while you were asleep? You are a twat for letting that happen.

Report
compo · 13/04/2010 13:13

she hasn't said the bath was full of water

You can nap while a 17 month old plays?

Report
cluckyduck · 13/04/2010 13:14

Well you're a bit of a twat to be honest. Sorry!

Why would the bath be full of water? The OP didn't say it was bathtime or she was on her way to the bath.

Stairgates are a good idea. When the dses were little, I had a stairgate on the stair, and kept the front room door shut, so they only had the kitchen-diner and hall to play in, and the comfy chair, where I could be tempted to nap, was in the front room.

you even have to ask

you knowingly fell asleep and left your 17 month old UNSUPERVISED, and he then wandered around the house with your mobile phone could have dialed anybody or worse the police and your asking if YABU

of course you bloody were!

Don't think i could sleep whilst taking 'care' of a toddler!

mummysgoingmad · 13/04/2010 13:17

no the bath was empty, how he got in there in the 1st place is beyond me the door was shut and he cant reach the handle yet

Unless your ds is shut in his room having a nap himself, you don't get to have one, I'm afraid- but I have a feeling this will become abundantly clear as the thread gets bigger...

I love how everyone has immeadiately jumped on the OP about a bath filled with water, despite the fact she just said "the bath"....

My 14mo plays in his completely baby proof bedroom with a stairgate on the door whilst I snooze in the morning. Snooze though, I'm never so completley out of it that I wouldn't know what he was doing.

How did you miss the delivery guy knocking on the door? Very twatish if you left your toddler roaming and you were so out of it you didn't even hear the door!

Damn you all, ruining the OP's suggestion that it's possible to sleep when you have a 17 month old.

You know you're going to be flamed, don't you. THing is, you deserve it.
He's 17mths, not 7. THere are still a million things he could try to eat, ways he could hurt himself, bump his head etc etc etc. To all intents and purposes, he is still a baby. I have a 23mth old and there is NO WAY I would do that.

In fact it makes me quite that some people can have ss on their backs for diddly squat and you are on a public forum telling us this.

And more worried about missing the delivery man.

me thinks you live under a bridge, so how can you have a bathroom?
