To not be able to stop thinking about the Idaho murder case

Is anyone else following this case? It’s absolutely horrible and has really scared me to the point of locking my bedroom door when I sleep every night! The more that comes out in the news, the more bizarre and confusing the case seems to get too. So scary to think what people are capable of 😞

It’s really awful. The information that has come out of the affidavit is awful. The flatmate that opened her door and saw him apparently heard her flatmate crying and a man say “it’s ok, I’m going to help you” 😟 And that he had driven by the house several times since August. It’s just awful.

Dreadful crime.

FartOutLoudDay · 07/01/2023 15:00

Based on what I’ve read today, I don’t think it was random. Either he had already met or was aware of some of the female occupants before attacking them.

FangedFrisbee · 07/01/2023 15:01

It's awful and the vitriol against one of the surviving room mates is awful

1000yellowdaisies · 07/01/2023 15:05

Me too I have been following it a lot. Its absolutely horrifying.

But the whole case has just been so bizarre and so many aspects of it that don't seem to make sense (the survivors seeing the intruder and not calling 911 for 6 hours, the accused coming from such a seemingly normal family etc)...Its complex and horrifying.

Agree, we cannot possibly know the facts at this point theres no way we can attribute blame to the survivors.... there's such so many questions

FartOutLoudDay · 07/01/2023 15:15

The survivor not calling the police makes perfect sense to me if you factor in the fact other people were coming and going to the house (there was a food delivery at the time of the murders), it was a student/party house so perhaps assumptions made that a late night visitor was leaving, she had been drinking (underage - and/or possibly using drugs so reticent to call the police or even questioning if what she saw was real). Also a suggestion online that survivor already suffers from PTSD and reacted in panic by locking herself away. It would not be unusual for a student to fall asleep just after 4 (esp while under the influence) and not wake up until nearly lunchtime at which point they can’t rouse any housemates and call the police. There’s a slightly confusing story doing the rounds that survivor was found passed out on the front lawn and a friend called 911 to report her passed out, while what happened inside came to light shortly after.

The timing of it blows my mind. He leaves his car at 4.04 and is back in it at 4.20 leaving 16 minutes to get to the house, kill 4 people and get back out. I don’t see how he could have done that if he didn’t already know the layout of the house.

shsiwb · 07/01/2023 15:21

I don’t blame you OP, it’s my worst nightmare of a way to be killed. To be vulnerable, asleep and then slaughtered like that is just unimaginable fear :(

I know. This might sound crazy but if the you tubers and tiktokers could find the lay out of the house from previous Zillow listings maybe he did too?

I think (pure speculation) that he saw them at one of the only vegan restaurants In the area where 2 of the victims worked and followed them home, then googled it and found all he needed to know about the floor plan? Just speculation though.

I think it's insane that he started staking out the house in august, just over a week after moving to Washington. And he was in the area before the crime happened around 12 times and the day after the murders he was back outside the house at 9am!

I was reading those today

Really scary to think that's him

Ravenrobin309 · 07/01/2023 15:44

Honestly I have been terrified ever since.
My husband works nights sometimes and I have two children. I am anxious and can't sleep. I'm trying to lay off it before bed time.
The fact that they were probably all awake. That xana had to watch ethan die. Its horrifying. The time line blows my mind. Remember kaylee dad said there was a connection

Why are you scared? You don’t live in Idaho US, do you? I know there is crime elsewhere too but how does this case exactly impact your day-to-day life? Based on this case, all other crimes could potentially affect you, and there’s so many of them, the question is: are you gonna get upset and scared every time something like this happens in far-off places in the world?
I don’t mean offence with this, I’m just genuinely curious.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 07/01/2023 15:55

I don’t understand how, if they were awake, there wasn’t more of a commotion. I know he had the element of surprise and they would have been intoxicated but still. It’s just mind boggling. There were two each in one room - so the couple and then two of the girls were together. How on earth did he incapacitate two lots of people TWICE?

Meggie2008 · 07/01/2023 15:55

It's definitely the timings of everything that's baffling me. They got a delivery literally 4 minutes before he apparently got to the house, so were clearly awake as they'd just answered the door. He was gone by about quarter/20 past 4. How do you get in, brutally murder 4 people, all of whom appear to have been wide awake, without any noise, and be gone again within 15 minutes? Bizarre

SEND2022 · 07/01/2023 16:00

It is absolutely horrendous. I'm unhealthily obsessed. The idea a man can break in and stab 4 college kids to death for seemingly nothing more than a fantasy. It's really hit a nerve. I will be following this until the trial verdict I think.

SEND2022 · 07/01/2023 16:01

It doesn't take long to stab people to death.

Americano75 · 07/01/2023 16:17

Which Facebook page? That's fucked up!

I am not sure the house was broken into. Americans don’t tend to lock their main entrance doors. You frequently see in films how random people just go into someone’s house and the main entrance in unlocked. They probably lock their doors in Downtown Detroit or the Bronx but rural Americans don’t seem to give a shit about locking doors.

Tilllly · 07/01/2023 16:27

And why those 4 and not the other two?

And why did the call say unconscious person? Not my 4 roommates have been stabbed?

MadeForThis · 07/01/2023 16:28

It seems crazy he can incapacitate and stab 4 people in 16 minutes. No one heard anything. And at least one person was awake. It's very strange.

Ravenrobin309 · 07/01/2023 16:28

@DigitalTranny
I'm in the UK. I don't know I think it's more because it happened in their own home where they should be safe, and how one man can take down 4 people so quick. I know there is crime everywhere I just think this is all over tiktok so its a constant reminder.
The videos showing them having fun going about their innocent lives not knowing what's about to happen. I think it's a massive reminder the world is a dangerous place.

Ravenrobin309 · 07/01/2023 16:30

@Tilllly
I think it's now saying that the two surviving roommates ran outside and one passed out. So the one on the phone was completely hysterical and hyperventilating. It's more of the operator couldn't understand what the girl was saying but picked up on her saying her friend wad unconscious.

Because these two lots of people were asleep. It’s easy to stab them to death like that.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 07/01/2023 16:42

@HeavenlyHiraaniTigerlilyHutchenceYatesGeldof i think it’s now commonly thought that they were all awake at the time of their murders. They’d just had a Door Dash delivery 4 minutes before the murderer broke in.
