We went to a classic car show today. The cars there, if you like that sort of thing, were a delight, and most are the utter pride and joy of their owners. The site was fully tarmaced, there was catering and a picnic area etc. Usually scooters aren't allowed. Or skateboards, or roller skates. But on the next table to us, was a dad, uncle and two wee boys, both on micro scooters. The dad let the boys weave in and out between the cars, and the owners looked like they might throw up.
A security guard was summoned, and he politely explained that scooters weren't allowed. But the dad argued and argued that he had checked with security on the gate, and his two boys WERE allowed. As he was arguing, they both crashed into the back of a mint Triumph Herald. All he had to do was to keep the kids away from the cars. There was MILES of space to play (it's held at an airfield so literally miles) but no, he carried on letting them whiz up and down in the narrow gaps between the parked cars. The owner of a convertible E type Jag drive it away in frustration, with the dad harrumphing that his boys had the "right" to play there. What a dick.
