AIBU?

Bra-less at my BBQ?

Last night DH and i hosted a BBQ for newish friends whom we had never hosted before. DH invited a female colleague whom i had never met before. She turned up with her boyfriend but not her bra. She was wearing a thickish cotton white top. You could see the outline of her boobs and nipples if you looked.

After the party i mentioned it to DH. He claimed to not have noticed.

MN jury?

Stop staring at women's chests?

Hakluyt · 21/09/2014 10:00

Jury on what? Whether you Dp noticed or not? Sorry, can't help.

Whether she should have come bra-less to a barbecue? Up to her, really.

Nanny0gg · 21/09/2014 10:00

What's the question?

FamiliesShareGerms · 21/09/2014 10:02

ConfusedHmm

BioSuisse · 21/09/2014 10:03

Turning up to a colleagues house with a white tee shirt and no bra

What is the question?
Better to have turned up without boyfriend but wearing a bra?

Oh sorry - you mean are you U for judging a woman by her underwear choices?

Yes you are.
HTH.

BioSuisse · 21/09/2014 10:04

I think it was inappropriate.

Was she nice? That's the only thing that matters isn't it?

NewEraNewMindset · 21/09/2014 10:05

Hmmm it really does depend. If your colleague was fairly small of boob then I think it's fair enough to leave the bra off and stick a top on. If however she is of Page 3 proportions and had her nipples in my partners eye all night I might find that quite irritating.

Hakluyt · 21/09/2014 10:06

"Inappropriate" Grin

BioSuisse · 21/09/2014 10:06

She was not small boobed, Sam Fox sized boobs

Unless it was a health and safety issue i.e baps may have fallen onto the BBQ, I can't really see a problem.

paxtecum · 21/09/2014 10:07

I hate all bras and often don't wear one.
Never ever wore one until I was 30.
I am the generation that burnt them.

It isn't mandatory to wear one.

CuttedUpPear · 21/09/2014 10:07

Are you Queen Victoria?

hollie84 · 21/09/2014 10:08

There's no rule that you have to wear a bra, is there? So what if you could see the outline of her breasts, half the population have them.

Evabeaversprotege · 21/09/2014 10:08

I wouldn't think dh didn't notice...

BioSuisse · 21/09/2014 10:09

No i am not Queen Victoria

It wouldn't worry me. If she'd forgotten to put on trousers and pants, I'd be concerned.

AuntieStella · 21/09/2014 10:11

Well, if she was so pendulous that her nipples actually swung onto the coals of the BBQ, causing screams that disturbed the bright harmony otherwise reigning at the event, then yes her clothes choice was unwise.

But she'll probably have worked it out for herself if her attire has safety consequences.

NewEraNewMindset · 21/09/2014 10:11

Ok, so she had large knockers that she chose to display in a partially transparent white top.

So what was our question? Should she have worn a bra or should you believe your DP that he didn't notice?

HSMMaCM · 21/09/2014 10:12

Perhaps her underwire snapped on the way over?

whataloadofoldshit · 21/09/2014 10:13

Jury on what? People can wear whatever they feel comfortable with and it wouldn't bother me, if that's what you mean.

Ha sorry OP I find this funny, your poor DH getting shit all morning now is he ?
Go bra less yourself OP...it's quite liberating from time to time Grin
Seriously though, try not to feel so in secure, easier said than done though eh ?

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 21/09/2014 10:13

Was her boyfriend wearing a bra?

LittleBearPad · 21/09/2014 10:13

My sense is YABU but I'm not sure what you're asking.

Your DH would have noticed.
