Monsoon Dress buttons caught in DD hair

Hello. I am trying to find out if anyone one else has had a similar problem with a monsoon summer dress. The dress has tiny square buttons down the back and when my daughter wore it to her birthday party on Saturday her hair became entangled badly enough that I had to cut it away from the buttons. I have been complaining to monsoon and they have assured me that the dress was tested but were unable and possibly unwilling to tell me how this was done with a child with long hair. My daughter's hair is quite long and it was French plaited with the length of the plait coming down the middle of her back so it was testing on the buttons. I think there is nothing unusual about the my 8yr ( she was 8 on Sunday, this dress is age 9 because my daughter is very tall, she has size 3.5 feet ) old having this hair style.

Monsoon were quick to tell me that no one else has complained. IN interested in trying to find other people that have had similar clothing issues. Has anyone ?!

(also if there is a better place to place this please tell me !)

I've got my hair entangled in buttons many many times and have never owned a garment from monsoon.

(Probably not helpful)

Lottiedoubtie · 20/08/2014 10:20

Um.. I'm not sure you can blame this one on Monsoon.

Branleuse · 20/08/2014 10:21

my dds hair got caught in buttons on a boden dress.

outraged

mumatron · 20/08/2014 10:22

Really? Hair can become tangled in any buttons.

What exactly do you want monsoon to do?

SorryForTheTypos · 20/08/2014 10:23

Wouldn't her hair have been caught on any buttons it was resting on?

It might be something to consider if you're buying any other clothing with buttons down the back though.

(the material looks lovely though - can see why you bought it!).

PinkSquash · 20/08/2014 10:23

I caught my hair on a Primark jumper once. Had to cut it off. The swines.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 20/08/2014 10:23

But hair can get tangled in any buttons. How is this Monsoon's fault?

shakinstevenslovechild · 20/08/2014 10:24

Grin I spent 10 minutes untangling myself from my asda cardi buttons yesterday. I don't think you can blame Monsoon.

Contraryish · 20/08/2014 10:24

My 8 year-old daughter got some chewing gum caught in her hair recently. Off to write to Wrigleys to complain!

LingDiLong · 20/08/2014 10:24

Erm, that's just a hazard of long hair and clothes with buttons isn't it?! My dd has long hair and this has happened a number of times. I'm not sure what you would expect monsoon to have done differently? What are you asking them to do?!

Thenapoleonofcrime · 20/08/2014 10:24

I have long hair and this type of thing happens a lot, in particular with necklaces, I have at least two at the moment where the hair is wound round them at the back, it looks awful.

I think you will have to start avoiding dresses with buttons on the back, I don't really think it is a design fault as any dress with back buttons may pull long hair, although some don't, it is a bit trial and error.

If you want to take the dress back on that basis, you could give it a whirl.

KnackeredMuchly · 20/08/2014 10:25

I wonder if it was the french plait - much easier to catch on a button that way.

op, you sound like someone severely affected by "compo culture". how about tying your daughter's hair up to avoid tangling in buttons?

divingoffthebalcony · 20/08/2014 10:27

I clicked on this threa thinking "Please tell me you aren't going to blame the dress".

It was an unforeseen accident. Anything with buttons on the reverse plus a child with long hair has the potential for tangling. There's no way Monsoon could test for that, and not could they be blamed for it.

LEMmingaround · 20/08/2014 10:27

I guess its just one of those things. Sometimes buttons get stuck in hair. What were you hoping for from monsoon?

trice · 20/08/2014 10:28

Dd has a party dress from ilovegorgeous. It is lovely but part from when her hair gets stuck in the buttons. I think it is a feature of long hair and little buttons. I wouldn't dream of complaining.

Pagwatch · 20/08/2014 10:28

Long hair catches on buttons.
It's not a design fault, it's what long hair does.

Long hair also catches on jewellery.

You are being a bit daft tbh.

trice · 20/08/2014 10:29

And she happily puts the dress back on knowing it's going to happen again.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 20/08/2014 10:29

Eh? How in Jeffs name is the Monsoons fault?!

If I got compo everytime I gor me hair caught in something , I'd never have to work again!

Get over it

piratecat · 20/08/2014 10:29

oh outrage.

really op??

crookedwindow · 20/08/2014 10:29

I am surprised that the dress wasn't designed to have a hidden seam with a zip the way that things like that are normally designed to be. I've looked and checked on all her monsoon clothing today and none have a row of buttons down the back. Considering that entanglement in clothing is usually something that is tested during the development of the garment it surprises me that this hasn't been an issue in testing.

But presumably when you bought it you could see it didn't have a zip, but had buttons?

crookedwindow · 20/08/2014 10:31

hang on... I'm not after anything. I'm curious to know if anyone else has had this issue with this particular dress.

yabu, why are you over focusing on something so trivial?
