AIBU?

To ask how many of you have had a bra intervention by Sorrel, Statistically and others?

I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

Me!

I thought I was 36AAA until Sorrel, Hazel and SC kindly pointed out it was physically impossible and my boobs would have to be growing inwards!

Last fitting I had was in M&S when I was pg. They told me i had gone up (!) to a 34AA and they didn't stock any bras that small. I was so embarrassed that I've not been for a bra fitting since (DD is now 5).

I should now be in a 30D. Only I'm still wearing the old freak shop internet order bras because I can't afford to go shopping at the moment. And my old aversion to bra shopping is bringing me out in a cold sweat at the thought of stepping back into the M&S lingerie dept.

TeWiSavesTheDay · 27/02/2013 14:02

I was a 32a (up to 34c when pg/bf)

I was fitted in m&s, la senza and poss jl. Plus once an independent place that also did it wrong (back size better but too small cups)

I am really a 28e atm.

I need help again though, because I am pg again! Where the heck do you get feeding bras in small back sizes?

CHST · 27/02/2013 14:07

me!!!!!!! having lost weight throughout last year, I also sadly lost weight from the girls too. Kindly Sorrel helped me find out that I am a teeny 28b.
The only problem now is finding bras with 28 back that aren't teen bras....way to go for making us smallies feel womanly!

stretch · 27/02/2013 14:07

What? The difference between a 32F and 40A must be HUGE! Shock How would an F fit into an A cup??

Why can't you have 36AAA boobs? I had a 36AA when pregnant with DD1. I now wear 34Bs (padded), should be an A really, but they get really painful by the end of the day.

What is this bra intervention??

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 14:11

Stretch, most ladies tend to wear a bra which is far to big in the back, and therefore several cup sizes too small. Unfortunately, most high street shops (M&S......) use an old fitting method which results in a dramatically wrong size. M&S would put me around a 36FF. I am in fact a 30HH

Grab a measuring tape, and (braless) measure yourself FIRMLY under your bust. Then, lean forward (so your breasts hang down from your torso at roughly 90 degrees) and measure (not pulling tightly) around the lowest part. Post your measurements up. Judging by the fact you say your bras are painful, I will put money on them being wrong

GinAndSlimlinePlease · 27/02/2013 14:11

used to wear a 36c.

was fitted in m&s previously.

Am now a 34e.

my DH commented on my big boobs last night, thanks sorrel! Grin

JemimaMuddledUp · 27/02/2013 14:11

Me!

I was wearing a 40C (fitted by M&S) but was once measured as a 42B by a lingerie shop in Chester that I can't remember the name of.

I now wear a 34E Grin

BunnyLebowski · 27/02/2013 14:11

Me!

Was wearing horrendously ill-fitting 36/38 B/C's from M+S.

Am now wearing gorgeous 34E's from proper bra shops.

The difference is phenomenal!

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 14:12

Oh, and roughly speaking(in terms of breast VOLUME) a 32F=34E=36DD=38D=40C..so only two cup sizes off in that example, and we have seen worse :)

StuntGirl · 27/02/2013 14:15

Sorrell helped me. I had no idea what size I was as was just wearing the last tatty old bra that I had, but when shopping for a new one Sorrell helped me find a comfy one. Am depressed at what size I actually am but oh well!

atthewelles · 27/02/2013 14:15

When you say 'the lowest part' Statistically what do you mean?

Sorry, not the brightest today.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 14:18

Ok, you are trying to measure round the widest part of your breasts - so if you are leaning forward so they hang down, the widest bit(if you looked side on) will be the bit nearest theb ground :)

stretch · 27/02/2013 14:18

Am finding the tape measure. M&S fitting had me at 34A, she didn't measure around the cup, just under the bust.

Ok, under bust, is 28.5(so 29), other is 34. So that does work out at 34A? I assume you add 5 not 4 as it's odd number?

atthewelles · 27/02/2013 14:19

Ah, got you. Thanks.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 14:19

You don't add. AT ALL.

You are, in fact, more like a 28E.

Bunbaker · 27/02/2013 14:20

I used to wear a 34A and now have some lovely 32Bs. I am supposed to be a 30C, but a 30 is so tight I can't breathe. The bra I am wearing now is a 32A because the cup size is so big. It is the same as my 32B bras.

intravenouscoffee · 27/02/2013 14:23

Was wearing 34A.

Fitted by M and S years ago and never refitted.

Now wearing 30D. Tis fabulous!

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2013 14:24

Bunbaker, I did a wee bit of research and sometimes ladies who are actually smaller cup sizes (i.e. have a 1/2/3" difference, not an M&S measured A cup) need a slightly larger back to counteract the fact that the root of their breasts can be relatively narrow, so in their exact measured size the cup placement is too far under the arm. So it's not entirely surprising that you need the 32. But for the majority of ladies, adding inches is wonky.

soaccidentprone · 27/02/2013 14:25

stretch. that makes you a 28E.

try John lewis or an independent bra shop. a balconet style I believe is the most popular fit

Saltire · 27/02/2013 14:26

Ooh I am going to measure myself the way stated above, and come back to see what I should be wearing. I have bra issues too, have got 3 that fit comfortable , don't ride up or show to much back flesh etc. One is a 36d. The toehr 2 are 38 c.

stretch · 27/02/2013 14:27

E!!!! I have diddy boobs, bit bigger now I have put on weight, but I would simply slide out of an E! Grin
Why don't you add? My SIL has just finished her bra fitting course for BHS and she said they add 4 or 5?

maddening · 27/02/2013 14:28

Sorrel the herb? No clue but am in need of knowing what size I am in need of knowing as my bra doesn't fit (2 yrs of bfing since I was measured) so how do you do a bra intervention?

I was 36d then measured when pg for nursing/maternity bra at 40g and now no clue

Was wearing a 38C/B Those dreaded M&S again Am now in a lovely 32F!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/02/2013 14:30

Yay stretch - you are going to LOVE your new boobs!!

I came across a bra thread on MN a while ago and a lovely poster called HettiAmaretti was offering advice, and I moved from a 40E nursing bra to a 38G.
I'm now wearing a 34H, and I dread to think what I would have looked like without the new knowledge. M&S would have me in a 42D/E.

I now have curves rather than lumps, 'tis an utter revelation. Grin

rotavirusrita · 27/02/2013 14:30

Ive gone from a 36 a and hating my boobs- i even considered surgery to a 28 /30 dd and thinking they are quite good.... As an aside ive now got a proper sized bikini and it look so much better.
