christian lady has written a book claiming jesus can cure homosexuality

I'm not getting into the debate of wether there is a God/Jesus etc. It just this has really mad me angry, how can you cure something that is NOT an illness. I find this extremely insulting and judgemental.

YANBU

I will decline to look at your link as this type of thing sets me in a bad mood for the rest of the day.

scurryfunge · 22/02/2011 13:04

Yes, religious fanatics are insulting and judgemental -it is what they do.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 22/02/2011 13:04

My friends mum used to send him all sorts of nonsense about prayer groups including him in their chain of prayers.
She just wouldn't accept that he wasn't sick, just gay.

perfumedlife · 22/02/2011 13:05

YANBU I also will give the link a miss.

thefinerthingsinlife · 22/02/2011 13:06

I am sat here seething about it

YANBU

Also not reading link for same reasons.

But then religious intolerance is hardly headline news is it?

Vallhala · 22/02/2011 13:07

The first word of the title tells me all I need to know about taking seriously anything further that the lady may have to say. :o

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 22/02/2011 13:07

Also Jesus is a dead fictional character.

ratspeaker · 22/02/2011 13:07

YANBU

things like that make we want to explode!
grrrrrrrrrrrr

kreecherlivesupstairs · 22/02/2011 13:08

I don't understand why people make it their business to try to change other people after talking to their imaginary friend.
DD and DH don't see it like that [god botherers]

TrillianAstra · 22/02/2011 13:09

Jesus can do anything.

madonnawhore · 22/02/2011 13:10

I wish someone would cure me of being straight. Gays have all the fun.

cantspel · 22/02/2011 13:11

You cant cure pedophiles either but it doesn't stopt idiots saying the are cured and releasing them back into society.

And no i am not linking pedophiles with gays but just highlighting there is a lot of idiots in this world.

KnittingRocks · 22/02/2011 13:11

Isn't religion kind of based on poking your nose into other's people's business?

greedychops · 22/02/2011 13:12

There is a very funny video on YouTube about Gay Scientists discovering a Christian gene - turns e whole thing on its head and its very funny to see how ridiculous some religious views on the subject are.

I will try to post a link if I can find it again.

DeOilyCart · 22/02/2011 13:12

The book is a fictional novel.
Therefore it is FICTION.
And can safely be dismissed as such.
Also, it won't sell, it looks crap.

stripeywoollenhat · 22/02/2011 13:12

madonnawhore, not so i've noticed, we don't....

Same as bupcakes....

It would put me in a bad mood.

We're not sure but think DS2 may well be gay.

I'd fucking kill anyone who tried to 'cure' him.

KnittingRocks · 22/02/2011 13:15

FioFio, the author is your aunt?!

DeOilyCart · 22/02/2011 13:15

"The book is due to be launched at St Paul?s Church, in Worcester, next month by Crossbridge Books ? run by retired teacher Eileen and her 80-year-old husband Gunther."

It's hardly going to make the Richard and Judy's Bookclub.

Ignore. A daft book, based on a daft fictional premise, published from somebody's kitchen table in Worcester. Don't give it oxygen.

(nothing wrong with Worcester, of course)

LemonDifficult · 22/02/2011 13:17

YANBU about being clear on homosexuality not being an illness or Jesus being able to cure it or wishing to or any of that utter bollocks.

(However, you are BU to give a link to that book and airtime to this 'debate'. There are a million religious nutters - don't put this one anywhere near the mainstream or allow yourself to get 'extremely insulted')

perfumedlife · 22/02/2011 13:17

Thanks greedychops, very good Grin
