Yes, where will it end? To launch bombs and missiles at civilians is utterly disgusting. That's started to happen right now. Heartbreaking. Dreadful.

the80sweregreat · 24/02/2022 04:15

It is devastating news. Those poor people.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 24/02/2022 04:29

And Putin’s threats to the west are chilling. He’s dangerous and unstable.

Meanwhile China sits and watches.

I remember as a young university student listening to news of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and thinking, ‘this is it’. And it’s happening again.

Mothership4two · 24/02/2022 04:35
Sad
Floydthebarber · 24/02/2022 04:46

His address with its threats was bleak. Reading reports that many in his government do not agree with his actions are worrying too. Instability inside Russia could lead to God knows where.

Nancydrawn · 24/02/2022 04:53

It's fucking devastating.

Time for British sanctions to be significantly harsher.

Dontbeamugallyourlifesucker · 24/02/2022 05:01

Awful! British sanctions must be harsher!

frenchcheeses · 24/02/2022 05:06

Britain won't do much about it, Johnson and much of his party is in the pocket of Putin. Why was the Russian Report never published? Because it exposes how compromised Johnson and his cronies are.

OutlookStalking · 24/02/2022 05:10

Frightening :(

Damnloginpopup · 24/02/2022 05:13

They had decades of effectively being sanctioned, there's nothing that concerns them in this pathetic threat, especially as we need russia and it's resources more than they need us. And Putin is hinting at total war.

Inthesameboatatmo · 24/02/2022 05:50

It's devastating to be honest. Where will it end is the question.

PAFMO · 24/02/2022 05:57

You need to watch Dan Walker's takedown of Liz Truss yesterday morning to see how the current govt is in the hands of Putin if you think Johnson will do anything other than wifflewaffle about sanctions.

DottyDoge · 24/02/2022 05:58

Awful events this morning. Ukraine is already reporting hundreds of casualties.

Crookedman · 24/02/2022 06:10

We need to completely cut them off. Tbh though Europe gas dependency on Russia makes this basically impossible. It doesn’t matter if Nordstream 2 has been stopped europe is still and will continue to buy their gas from them. Britain needs to completely shut down any economic activity with Russia, every single penny needs to be frozen. It won’t stop them but it will at least make it harder for them to finance this travesty.

There are veiled threats of nuking anyone who intervenes. I hope every single politician who has taken money from Russians associated with Putin or made excuses for Putin by blaming the west and Nato hangs their head in shame. Every single one of them, and thats across political parties.

Libertybear80 · 24/02/2022 06:13

I think he has been planning this for a long time. He hoped his second puppet Trump would still be in power. He's still got Johnson. He's been working on weakening governments for some time!

Bloodyshittystorms · 24/02/2022 06:18

This frightens me more than Covid ever did. God knows what that man is capable of.

MadameHeisenberg · 24/02/2022 06:25

The Americans need to block them from using the dollar. That’s they only way Putin will listen.

nonono1 · 24/02/2022 06:27

This is devastating news Sad How many men, women and children will die as a result of this needless war?

ListenLinda · 24/02/2022 06:29

It’s just beyond comprehension. What on earth does he want to gain from this? Those poor people.

Blinkingbatshit · 24/02/2022 06:29

I wonder how many MPs have investments that are tied up with Russia somehow?🤔…..

QuentininQuarantino · 24/02/2022 06:38

I’m so worried, my sons godmother lives in Kiev with her little family. She wasn’t expecting this at all and was staying calm only yesterday.

PinkestMoon · 24/02/2022 06:43

All really frightening. In terms of anxiety about further escalation there's a good overview from the BBC here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-60485766

TheHuffAndPuffALot · 24/02/2022 06:47

We really don't know where this is heading.
I'm bl00dy scared but trying not to let on to my 11 y/o.

spacehardware · 24/02/2022 06:49

Putin won't care about sanctions. He has a Stalin style disregard for the suffering of ordinary Russians, and he will already have factored sanctions into his plans. He will regard sanctions with contempt.

The only thing that stop work is a military response. But US and U.K. governments won't do that, not until/unless he goes beyond Ukraine. We've already abandoned them. It sickens me

MakeUsACuppa · 24/02/2022 06:56

@Bloodyshittystorms

This frightens me more than Covid ever did. God knows what that man is capable of.
Totally agree
