Euro elections - remainers come hither

Sorry if this has been done before.

It's the Euro elections on Thursday and I'm a remainer. I've been confused about which party to vote for to give the best opposition to the pro Brexit parties. I really wish Change UK had partnered up with the Lib Dems but alas, that wasn't to be. I think on balance I will be voting for the Lib Dems - I usually vote for them in General Elections although I admire the Change MPs who put their careers on the line for something different.

I just wondered what other remainers were thinking. My friends don't really talk about this sort of thing so thought here might be a good place to discuss but apologies if this isn't allowed in an election period.

I am voting Lib Dem too, and am also annoyed that the remainers didn’t club together 🙄.

BishopBrennansArse · 19/05/2019 17:05

Checking in.
I'm going against my party membership but really struggling to vote Lib Dem after the coalition. But as it's for euro parliament not ours I'll hold my nose and do it if that's what's necessary.

Lib dem. I'm in Brexit land as well.

Purdah doesn't apply to social media. I'll be voting SNP.

Electionpondering · 19/05/2019 17:15

I thought I'd be voting for Change UK initially but have swung back to Lib Dems when it's come down to it as seems like the better option.

I was annoyed too by the Lib Dems coalition attempts but think they truly believed they had a chance at getting a proportional representation system in place and ultimately gave too much up in the deal for that.

I wish they had a more dynamic leadership at the moment too but hopefully that will come in time if/as they pick up more seats at the next general election.

I'm torn between Green and Lib Dems, but think I'll go for Lib Dems as they have a better chance. I wish all the remain parties clubbed together too, really worried the votes will be spread between them. Sadly the Brexit party will probably do well as they're very clear what they are (even though they're led by a complete tosspot and 'brexit' isn't even a bloody word).

QueenofLouisiana · 19/05/2019 17:20

I’ll be voting Green. If that were not an option, I’d go LibDem I think.

Motherbrownskneesup · 19/05/2019 17:20

I'll be voting Green - considered Lib Dems but decided against for the same reasons as other pp. In a GE I would vote Labour but they need to stop pissing about trying to appease leave and remain at the same time.

CraftyGin · 19/05/2019 17:22

I’ll be voting Liberal. First time ever not voting Conservative.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/05/2019 17:22

Really not sure yet. Will either be Lib Dem or green.

If I was anywhere else in the country it would be Lib Dem, but Green Party have a strong candidate here.

niceupthedanceagain · 19/05/2019 17:25

Lib Dem, sadly as fuck knows what labour are up to.

BarbaraofSevillle · 19/05/2019 17:25

Yes, I think the Lib Dems are the way to go, Ive voted for them before except when a tactical vote for Labour was necessary to keep the Tories out, which sadly didn't always work, which is ridiculous as in how are there so many tories round here, it's a mostly working class ex mining area.

AutumnCrow · 19/05/2019 17:29

Lib Dem. Given up on Labour for this one.

MustardScreams · 19/05/2019 17:30

Lib Dem’s. First time I’ll have ever not voted Labour. I don’t know what the fuck JC has been doing, but perhaps a huge loss on Thursday will give him a much needed kick up the arse to get out of bed with TM and back a bloody 2nd ref.

fairweathercyclist · 19/05/2019 17:33

I am also voting Libdem (in the south east) and suggested to my mother who is in the south west to vote Green as Molly Scott Cato is standing again.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 19/05/2019 17:36

Not sure I can bring myself to vote for Plaid Cymru as I'm English, so will almost certainly vote Green 🗳

Electionpondering · 19/05/2019 17:36

I suspect Labour are going to perform pretty poorly in these elections.
I'm hoping it will be enough for Corbyn to go but who knows?!

BambooBoobam · 19/05/2019 17:39

I was originally going to vote for Change UK or Green but I’m now 99% certain that I’m voting for Lib Dems. I keep seeing them as being the best to tactically vote for.

BambooBoobam · 19/05/2019 17:39

I’m in south east

GhostofFrankGrimes · 19/05/2019 17:58

Lib Dem very reluctantly. They wouldn't get my vote in GE.

BambooBoobam · 19/05/2019 18:01

Has anyone, who signed up to Remain Voters, had their email yet? I’m sure I saw on their Facebook page that they’re emailing out today re who to vote for.

OriginofSpecies · 19/05/2019 18:03

OriginofSpecies · 19/05/2019 18:04

No, not had my email yet.

LilyRose88 · 19/05/2019 18:06

I'm a life-long Labour supporter but I am going to vote Change UK. I have just been to one of their rallies and I am very impressed with the diversity and calibre of their candidates and their desire to do the right thing for this country.

HollowTalk · 19/05/2019 18:08

Lib Dems here, for the first time ever (usually Labour.) I'm never going to vote Labour while Corbyn's in power - it would be the end of the Labour Party.
