Weleda Nipple Balm Review: 'I would repurchase without hesitation.'

Combining natural lanolin and beeswax, Weleda Nipple Balm offers breastfeeding mothers immediate relief for sore nipples, and at just £6 a tube, it's a great price too. But how does it measure up to more well-known nipple cream brands? Our breastfeeding parent-tester Bethan put it through its paces.

How we tested Weleda Natural Nipple Balm

Parent-tester Bethan, a mum-of-one currently breastfeeding a newborn, tested a selection of Mumsnet's top-rated nipple cream samples over a period of several months. During this time she took rigorous notes on each cream's effectiveness, ease of application, feel and value for money as well as her overall verdict on each nipple cream.

Weleda Natural Nipple Balm: first use

The Weleda Nipple Balm comes with instructions on the box and the tube itself. According to Bethan, these were 'the most thorough instructions of all the nipple creams [she] tested. The user is encouraged to air and dry the breast prior to putting on any cream.'

How does the Weleda Natural Nipple Balm feel to touch?

'The balm feels very soft to the touch,' reported Bethan. 'It is a really nice consistency.'

It’s not too slippery and holds its form (doesn’t slide off), but also doesn’t drag the nipple or skin at all and rubs in really gently.
