Well that's disappointing, to say the least.

One of the theories as to why labour lost many of its heartlands at the last election was that there was a disconnect with what labour thought its voters were interested in. Jess is an idiot if she thinks the average voter is in favour of this crap. But go ahead Jess carry with the sterling work of Corbyn in destroying the Labour Party 🤦‍♀️

Oh FFS. I'm not sure I've got the energy for this again.

so disappointing. i like her in many ways. but being prone to such lazy thinking is a very bad sign

FFS.

How can an intelligent woman not see the fucking problems with self ID and the utterly misnamed “veto”?

Report
FloralBunting · 05/01/2020 19:15

Tinsel, I don't have the energy to do more than change out of my Christmas name and have a bath after a full day at work. But I've still got your back in this.

Thanks Floral.

In case anyone here isn't sure fait with this, here's a summary.

Just replace "Lib Dems" with "Labour" Hmm

No surprise there - Jess is not a champion of anything except herself. She is after the party votes.

oh dear
was hoping that would be an old comment but no, it's today, no excuse for that

Absolutely rage inducing.

FFS Jess. You’re better than this. Tinsel it’s thanks to you I’m aware of this at all - to me it’s the very definition of misogyny. The brave and stunning transitioning male has his voice listened to and his needs met, while the trans widow he left in his wake is not even allowed to attend the discussion never mind given a voice. Horrible.

Tootsweets23 · 05/01/2020 20:31

God Tinsel I hear you. It is utterly tedious especially for a woman with her background.

Report
howwillthispanout · 05/01/2020 20:39

What background would that be?! I think some people here have bought into a myth about Jess that does not reflect the reality. She’s not “better than this” and never has been.

Sadly I’m afraid that Jess is 100% TWAW & isn’t bothered about throwing women under a bus in pursuit of internal labour woke points to win the leadership

Report

About time we came up with a riposte to the utterly misnamed "spousal veto"

What Jess is actually advocating is a "forced marriage clause"

Perhaps we should start calling her proposed clause what it is.

Forcing through an immense change of marriage contract, AND a reversal of the nature of the spousal sexual partnership from heterosexual to 'homosexual' or vice versa - without the consent of the spouse.

FFS. I thought she was great.

Past tense.

Report
Gone2far · 05/01/2020 21:00

no surprise to me.

Report
OhHolyJesus · 05/01/2020 21:00

I read her book, I thought she wouldn't be TWAW as she worked so closely with DV victims. There really is no limit to how wrong you can be about someone. Beyond disappointed.

Report
TinselAngel · 05/01/2020 21:13

The most accurate way of describing the current law IMO is "Spousal Exit Clause"

Report
MoltenLasagne · 05/01/2020 21:17

It's spousal entrapment and anyone who spent ten seconds thinking about it would realise it too. Shows how much thought she's given to signing away women's rights.

Report
Voice0fReason · 05/01/2020 21:29

Oh Jess I had such hopes for you!
Think about this from a woman's perspective!!
It's not all about what the man wants.
Let her get out of a marriage before her husband changes it to a same sex relationship without her consent.

Report
EwwSprouts · 05/01/2020 21:42

Still out of touch. Impressive lack of applied intelligence given she sat on the committee.

Not surprised. My friends' MP and didn't go to the WPUK/Fairplay meetings when asked by female constituents.
She did, however, go to see Amnesty instead Hmm

Yeps. Not a fucking clue what us the ordinary people think

Not a fucking clue or does have but will sell women down the river to get some votes

There you go.

Sell women down the river Jess

She's foolishly trying to appease the TRAs and Momentum bros who are trying to scupper her leadership bid by calling her a transphobe. She hasn't yet realised that they can't be appeased.
