9 lbs in 9 weeks

Hope it's okay to post here, really just wanted something that I could hold myself accountable to. I'm 5'3 with a fairly slender build naturally, but was shocked to find that I now weight 9st 12lbs. I still have quite a slim upper half, but my hips/bottom are large, and I have horrible footballer's legs that I've always had.

SO...I'm going away in 9 weeks time and my mission to lose 9lbs!! My biggest aid here will be cutting down on the carbs - it's shameful how many carbs I eat.

Anyone care to join me?

Me! I'm 5 foot 3 and currently 9 stone 13 pounds. Want to lose 13 pounds to get back to my pre kids weight if I can as I feel way more comfortable at that size. Currently have a big belly and biggish thighs! Aiming to lose 1lb per week by just eating well and exercising. What are you doing! Details please!

Are you me? I weigh the same as you, am about 5'2". The weight has crept on since the beginning of the year. I am comfortable at about 9st 7, but would like to get lower. I too have a neat top half, but hips and thighs are currently not a pretty sight. I am going on holiday in 9 weeks, and unless I lose the weight, will have nothing to wear. I am planning to ditch the wine and chocolate to start with, and cut out snacks. Good luck.

Hello,
I would really like to join you. I am looking to be accountable to as well. I am 5ft and I weigh 9 stone 3. I would really like to weigh 8 stone.

I am doing the Cambridge diet and I started at 10 stone 10 back in November and I just had a little break from it because its quite hard..and re- started on Friday. I have quite high hopes for achieving my goal which I have set for 8 weeks from now.

I also love exercising but its so hard to prioritise as I work quite long hours four days a week and have two children. I am really hoping that in the next 8 weeks I can get into regular exercise routine of at least three times week.

So far this weekend I went to body attack which got the heart racing!

I was were you are this time last year. I have lost all of the weight I wanted to, am a dress size I never thought I'd see again, and have kept it off for about 6 months now. I'm healthier and happier. I just wanted to add my support and encouragement and wish you all the best.

What did you do Vivacia? Well done!

I kept reflecting on my chosen method, and when it wasn't working I educated myself a bit more and tweaked it until I found an approach that really, really worked for me and my lifestyle.

I didn't give up.

I firmly believe that when you emotionally/mentally want to lose weight it comes off. If you're not ready yet, then your efforts won't work because you'll sabotage yourself.

That sounds like the best route to weightloss for everyone Viv.

I would love to join: 5 foot 4 and 9 st 11. Cutting carbs and wine and more exercise is my plan. Have just bought the P90 exercise DVDs. Now just need to start. Am hoping this thread will helpSmile

I think so Nillla. I'd love to tell you what worked for me (and continues to work for me) because it's made me feel so happy and successful. I could bore you all silly with it Smile

But in the end, I think all that matter is that you've found something that really works for you and if that's the cabbage soup diet or eating raw meat, then who am I to argue?

I will join you too- exactly the same height and weight as you OP.
I think (perhaps I am kidding myself) that i carry it ok as I do quite a bit of exercise but need to ditch some bulk!

I'm doing 30 mins on the treadmill, fast walking incline of 7 speed 4.5 and then another 15 mins on flat at speed of 5. Have cut all junk ( biscuits, chocolate, crisps, white bread) out of my diet and cut sugar out of coffee ( tastes rank though- need to get used to it). Am eating lots of good healthy stuff though like scrambled eggs, fruit, veg, limited whole meal bread. Cooking with coconut oil as well. No diet drinks or squash either as really want to flatten my fat belly. Probably about 1400-1500 calories per day.
Getting over 10000 steps per day on the pedometer.
Current weight today: 9 stone 12 pounds

My husband says the skin on my upper arms and back has transformed- no more bumpy plucked chicken skin or red spots! Must be all the chia seeds I'm eating. Taste like glue though!

Can I join you even if I'm more overweight? At 5'5 and 11st 6 I am well above my 9st 7 happy place. I do manage some exercise but have bought a DVD to do in a morning if I can force myself out of bed early. Would be nice to be somewhere I am accountable! Cheering you all on!

Meant to say earlier - take and record lots of body measurements. Don't forget your Before photos.

Vivacia I would love to hear how you did it? Always find it interesting to hear others success when they have maintained. Smile

I had a few false starts at first - "moving more" (but not moving enough) and "eating better" (but too much).

Eventually I ended up with calorie-counting. Nothing more complicated than that. It meant I got serious about exercising, started to eat real portions, reduced the comfort eating, whilst acknowledging that personally I need a little bit of processed, additive-packed junk every day Smile

I read a lot - learned all about TDEE, macros, myths about "starvation mode" and bodies clinging on to fat. I learned about hydration and water retention. I weighed in a few times a day and learned about how much weight cycles in a day or month. I learned that exercise is for health, but weight loss requires calorie restriction (however you choose to achieve that). I learned that being toned requires heavy lifting and that actually I like being strong and muscular.

I think I learned that I like being in control more than I like comfort eating. I think I learned that it's possible to feel comfortable in my own skin.

vivacia that's exactly the kind of inspiration I need, I don't want to do another faddy diet, I've started with moving more but not very good with eating less.

I think that's one thing I'm doing in a lot of areas of my life, "enjoying the journey and not just the destination". Paying attention to what I'm learning along the way and not seeing "failure" as some kind of moral failing about me.

I'm glad that my post was helpful, you may have noticed I was very reluctant to write it and then it came out as a flow of consciousness.

viviacia that's probably the most sensible / inspirational thing I have ever read about weight loss and exercise.

Normally, people talk about it as this 'no pain no gain' cycle of struggle and denying yourself and being a martyr to it.

Gives me a bit of hope also as I am 5:2ing at the moment, and am trying to enjoy it, see the pros, be interested in what I cook and eat and how I exercise, and also just get on with a normal day even though I feel a bit hungry.

Ahhh I am not sure why I seem to have killed this thread? So I will answer myself...(hmm brilliant...) I am doing well. I have a weigh in tomorrow and my scales are different to my consultants so I always have to wait and see what they say. I feel a bit lighter. I will let you know...come back someone....
