Weight loss chat

From Frump to Fab- anyone in?

CornChips · 25/02/2015 06:28

Not sure this should be in weightloss chat as it is not about weight. I have 2 stone to lose, but overall I am really suffering from self esteem issues and have gradually morphed from a generally put-together person to someone to barely gets out of pyjamas. (I work from home). None of my clothes fit. I am unfit. I want to completely overhaul my life.... yet feel like I am having to learn again about healthy eating, exercise, makeup- even how to dress!

Anyone want to join in?

Me - I am 40. 2 stone overweight.

Today I pledge to:

  • go for a 35 minute walk
  • go to my first ever spinning class (eek!)

-blow dry my hair and do my makeup
-eat healthily.

Would love some company. :)

My pledge is to

-exercise for at least one hour every other day

  • cut out junk food
  • drink at least 1.5 litres of water a day
  • get rid of clothes / items that do me no justice
  • weigh myself regularly

Welcome Amelle!

So far I have gone for a 25minute walk. I am dressed in a navy blue dress (my DH did a double-take and said 'You look nice'), I have done my hair and painted my nails. I ate cereal and fruit for breakfast. :)

I have become so used to just slobbing it is like I really have forgotten how to groom myself.

I will weigh myself every second day to start with - if I do it every week I fall into the trap of thinking 'I have 6 days until weigh in so can eat this and that'. This morning I am 11 stone 6. My aim is 9 stone 7.

Room for me? I'm 30 5ft 2 and need to loose 2st. I've so far since January gone from 13st to 11st 6 but grown a bit bored.
I've done my hair and makeup today even dug out the babyliss big hair I'm left looking like Gwendoline from Wallace and gromit but its a start. Unfortunately exercise is out of the question toddler ds has conjunctivitis and general grumpiness. I'm a vegetarian and plans today food wise, smoothie for breakfast (soya milk, table spoon of oat, chia seeds, 4 almonds, cinamon and pineapple). Dinner stir fry and 2 egg omelette for tea with sweetcorn. Will weigh once a week on a Monday.

Hello! You have lost a stone and a half in 6-7 weeks??!! Wow that is amazing!

I am trying to touch my makeup every time I go to the loo.... I might end up looking very orange, but will try and not go overboard!

I completely eliminated cheese, milk, chocolate (was eating a 200g bar every single night). I was living off veg soups/bean casseroles with oatcakes instead of bread. As you can imagine its worn thin. So I'm shaking it up a bit to shift 2 stone.
I don't know why I have bothered with makeup I'm blowing my nose every 5 minutes so I have the clown look going on Grin.

Grin

I am actually vegan so you would think I had healthy eating down, but I gave up alcohol last year (in the bid to lose the stone I was then overweight by) and put ON a stone as I was eating chips, fried crap, and lots of sugar. Angry. So it will be back to basics for me..... veg soups, fresh food and grains. Bread is a bit of a downfall too.

Grin its tough isn't it. People look at me like Hmm when they know I've been vegetarian for over 20 years as if it should make me really slim and healthy. What height are you?
What's on the menu for you today? I've had my dinner I can't have my tea until later as I'm on oxytetracycline for spots so must be taken on an empty stomach. I'm about to make some flapjacks for the kids, it's going to be tough!

I'm 5 ft 1.:) So short and round.

Menu for me,

weetabix, soy milk, 3 walnuts and grated apple

minestrone soup with bread roll

roasted sweet pots, regular pots, asparagus, carrots for dinner after spinning. DH makes a really good vegan gravy with soy sauce and vegetable stock.

Usually I skip breakfast then have sandwiches and toast for lunch, so I am hoping changing to soup will help!

Only an inch between us I'm 5ft 2. I love soy sauce will add it to anything but I do have a bit of a salt addiction. Flapjacks are cooking this shall be a test of the greatest kind Smile

Good morning!

How are you! How did the flapjack test go? Grin

My spinning class went really well. I am going to try and go again on Monday. Today I am wearing a black dress with a red cardi and jewellery again. My DS said 'You look nice mummy'. It makes me feel a bit sad really that my frumpiness has been so apparent to everyone. I even got a comment from a school run mum' Where are you off to?' . Never mind.... the change starts here.

Can I join?

I'm 36, 5'4" and am 3 stone overweight.

I started tracking everything on MFP and have already lost a stone since 25th January so am on track.

This morning I have had porridge for breakfast made with half water half skimmed milk and 20g of almonds.

Report
CornChips · 26/02/2015 10:14

I might try MFP - I keep joining then quitting WW and SW. Grin

I had left over minestrone for breakfast. Then ate some crisps as DH is on the phone yelling at the phone company billing department and I am an anxiety-eater.

Out for lunch which is rare. The restaurant has no vegan options so I usually eat a side salad and chips- so I need to think about a better option!

I hate this phrase, but in my case it is true. I have 'let myself go'. :( I have had fairly chronic PND since DS was born and am now coming out of it thanks to glorious wonderful ADs, so hopefully I can get myself back.

Thanks for joining in. :)

The flapjacks were definitely a test I ate 3. But it's not my first week so I'm not feeling too guilty Smile. I've coloured my hair today and had another attempt with the babyliss big hair. I've painted my nails and I've got a nice dress to wear for a welsh concert this evening that my ds 7 is in. I'm going to wear thick grey tights with it. Nose is slightly less runny so am going to attempt my makeup in a bit. I'm definitely feeling a bit better about myself. Dinner is going to be egg on whole meal toast and tea is bean sprouts, sweetcorn, spring onion and noodles with a vegetable spring roll but the spring roll is only 121 cals so not too bad.

Hi 26point. That's my goal too, I really need to take more pride in how I look. Right now I won't even have my photo taken and its unfair on the children. I aim to start buying myself things more often, sometimes a dress or even just a nail varnish. It's always about the children with me and I need to realise that sometimes I deserve something.

Report
26Point2Miles · 26/02/2015 14:07

its beneficial for our children if we look/feel good too I think. so that another way of looing at it

I'm always in work uniform or sportsgear so don't need too much in the way of clothing, but I need a good sort out. accumulated loads of summer stuff and I've got all my 'thin clothes' to wear or chuck. either way.i've got too much!

Report
CornChips · 26/02/2015 19:04

Lord I needto have a serious chuck out of clothes too. I have been living in hoodies as I cannot fit into my old shirts.

And I need shoes. When I went on the school run I had to wear trainers with my dress as my high heels no longer fit due to weight gain and pg.

Just back from a lovely evening, I did for once feel slightly over dressed! I didn't go like a hooker or anything but a dress, tights, flat chunky black shoes a silver pearl necklace and I did my makeup and hair.
Cornchips, be I g a similar height to me, what weight are you aiming for? I would like to be 9.5 ideally but it's giving me 10.1 to have a healthy BMI. I don't own a scales so get a print out down boots every week and stick them to the notice board Smile

Hello! Your outfit sounds lovely.:) I need to get back to wearing necklaces too.

I am aiming for 9 stone 7.... which is the weight I was when I met DH. But, that was a long time ago now, so anything under 10 stone would be great. :)

I am 11 stone 5.6 this morning. Yay! There is a spinning class I might be able to get to tomorrow...... next weigh in Sunday. Today I am going online to see if I can get some nice dresses that will see me through spring.

Morning all. I've done my makeup, today and my hair with a few sprays of batiste Grin. My weigh in is on Monday I'm not hoping for much but I've done crash diets in the past and know its not for keeps so I need to accept 1lb loss is sensible.
You sound very similar to me I was 9.5 (9 and a half) when I met dh and I felt good. I'm far smaller on top 10-12 even at this weight but on the bottom I'm guessing a 14? But I don't own any trousers because of this as dresses hide my larger area.
Plan for the weekend cinema tomorrow and farm park on Sunday if it's dry.
Smoothie for breakfast
2 boiled eggs with 2 slices of brown bread as soldiers
And I need to think of something for tea.

Not sure what your style is but I got some nice spring dresses from fatface as they have a mid season sale and mantaray because they had some reductions.

Grin no! Am here. Manic day.

How was your day? I went to a 40th lunch..... lots of gorgeous food. Dressed in a black dress, green and gold chinese jacket. Ate way too much though. Oddly, got lots of compliments on the jacket, but it is frayed and from a charity shop!
