TORRO have issued a tornado watch for central and southern England and Wales.

Which is quite a large area really. Tornado watches mean that the expected weather in conducive to tornadogenisis rather than they are expected but nevertheless, it could be interesting :) hail, thunder and severe gusts are also possible.

I saw this on Facebook; I'm guessing it's the band that Met Office has coming across the area in the early hours?

turkeyboots · 19/10/2013 20:03

Exciting!

EdwiniasRevenge · 19/10/2013 20:05

We've just had some feaky weather in the East Midlands.

Torrential rain came from nowhere with thunder and lighting and left behind a golden orange sky.

I was in the bath so couldn't see much through the fristed window but heard it and saw the sky change colour.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/10/2013 20:05

It is badger :)

oh goodness!

any idea how long it'll last?

am planning a trip to legoland on either mon or tues, but don't want to get hailed on Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/10/2013 20:37

The unsettled weather looks likely to last all week, Tuesday I think shows more potential for storms again than Monday.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/10/2013 20:40

That's related to a band just exiting the UK Edwina, the next lot is coming in from the west.

bundaberg · 19/10/2013 20:41

oh no! looks like legoland will be off again. blimmin weather! lol

BooItTooJulia · 19/10/2013 20:43

Watching with interest. Based in West Midlands!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 19/10/2013 20:45

OYBBK I am a huge fan and love seeing and reading your threads. Tornado! I quite like a bit of extreme (but not too extreme) weather. Can you "do" Europe too or do you tend to stick to the UK?

BuzzardBirdBloodBath · 19/10/2013 20:46

If you are on FB Boo go onto Midland Storm Chasers (based in Bridgnorth). They give excellent weather reports and post weather maps etc. Very interesting stuff.

MoreThanWords · 19/10/2013 20:46

West Mids here too - had that huge downpour just as Tesco arrived with some very soggy shopping! There was a fabulous rainbow afterwards though

Looking forward to a good storm in the early hours Smile ??????

CatAmongThePigeons · 19/10/2013 20:46

The map showed that the sw could be affected, which is exciting- if it's out over the sea. It is very mild and calm here atm.

BooItTooJulia · 19/10/2013 20:48

Oooh, will do Buzzard, thanks!

TheGonnagle · 19/10/2013 20:53

We had a mahoosive cloud burst at about 5.30 after a beautiful, warm day. A large clap of thunder about 8.15 and now the calm before the storm.....
Could do without the tornado please. (West Mids btw)

AnandaTimeIn · 19/10/2013 20:57

We - not UK - had a massive cloud burst after being told it was going to be an unusually mild 5 days to come. Hmm

It's full moon and another eclipse. Explains it all Grin

ScreamingNaanAndGoryOn · 19/10/2013 20:58

It was weird here earlier (north west). Ridiculously warm this afternoon, followed by a mahoooosive thunderstorm.

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 19/10/2013 21:04

Thanks OYBBK :)

Anything exciting I should look out for tonight where I am (CSE)?

I suppose I'd better bring the bloody climbing plants in (still in very light pots and fall over with a breath of wind) and poor little Ollie Oak - he's still too tiddly to be out in nasty weather!

We've already started half term - sodding typical!!

Makinglists · 19/10/2013 21:18

Big flash of lightening and short but heavy rainstorm here in Plymouth about 20 mins ago.

BlackeyedSusan · 19/10/2013 21:20

I came to see if anyone else had had thunder and lightning.

we haas some just before 5, in the west midlands. went very dark a couple of claps of thunder, torrential rain and squally winds.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/10/2013 21:21

Chipping, you are sitting nicely in the risk area :) good precautions! Let me know if there is any damage!

Thanks for the report makinglists, you are our advance guard!

SheSellsSadShells · 19/10/2013 21:37

Waves at MakingLists, in the same place and clocked the torrential rain but not the lightning flash!

LumpySpacePrincessOhMyGlob · 19/10/2013 21:44
