Pretty tea style dress

I'm going out in a couple of weeks, just to pubs etc so don't want to be too dressy but want to look nice, especially since I have lost 1.5 stone (still have a long way to go!).

I like wearing tea style dresses, vintage (NOT lindybop!) /boho style dresses.

I have a beige boyfriend blazer I would wear with it and would either wear pumps or Chelsea boots depending on weather.

I'm a size 16/18 and have a budget of about £50, but would prefer to spend less.

Any ideas?

Should have said, don't want it too short but anything too long will swamp me as I'm quite short with little legs!

Oh. I was going to say Lindybop. Do we not approve of Lindybop?

Don't think that sort of 50s dress would look right with a boyfriend blazer and Chelsea boots either. They need heels!

Elsie's Attic have some nice stuff. You could try there. Good luck!

Some lovely things on both of those sites but not quite what I'm after. It's so annoying when you have an idea in your head but can't find it!

My friend got some lovely ones from (bizarrely) Peacocks - a couple of years ago mind

Loads of nice & reasonably priced tea dresses on Asos at the moment. Also a few lovely ones (although more expensive) in Topshop.

I don't fit in topshop Blush

Peacocks is a good shout actually, I've bought some nice stuff from there before but always forget about them since our local store closed down.

Have looked on Asos and all the ones I like are either too small, short or expensive.

Have you looked in Cath Kidston?

I have a couple of lovely vintage style tea dresses from there, one I got on eBay..maybe worth a look on there?

I like tea dresses and I've got this from Bon Marché in either a 16 or 18 and I think it looks nice on. It caught my eye walking past one day, had never been in before but have since bought several cardigans & another dress there.

I love Cath Kidston but I'm too big for the clothes. Same with French connection.

The Bon marched one is very pretty but looks quite long, and the model wearing it has much longer legs than me so will be even longer on me! Preferably want something above the knee.

I'm so fussy Blush

Try Carousel. Discovered them online the other day and am quite interested in a few bits. Lots of pretty dresses but not overly 50s.

That's because they're in Ireland! Now you know how we Irish people feel when links point to stuff you can only get in the UK [bitter]. I did wonder if Carousel had expanded internationally when I saw the link at first...

If you really like it there's a service called Parcel Motel that ships stuff over the border - or some other UK shop might have the same brands?

Queen of Holloway and collectif are in the same league as lindybop and just not for me. That whole rockabilly/retro look looks ridiculous on me, amazing on the right person though!

You can change the currency on Carousel - top right hand corner.
