Bikini wax for first time - what do I need to know?

I'm embarrassed to say that I'm almost 40 and don't know what a bikini wax involves Blush I decided I should probably give it a go so what do I need to know? do I trim the hair being waxed first? what happens when I get there?

Don't trim, longer the better. Wear knickers your not bothered about getting wax on. Usually the person doing the waxing will ask you to hold your knickers out of the way and she will put the warm wax on, place the waxing strip on top and Wham PULL the strip off quickly. It's very stingy just grit your teeth youll be fine ha. You might be a bit red and sore when you get home. It lasts about 2 -3 weeks love.ly and smooth! Ideal. For holidays

I always trim mine - not short, but enough to avoid the dreaded 'double pull'. Oh, and whatever you do, don't do yoga beforehand. I did it once, never again 😱

If they offer you a Brazilian or a Hollywood, say no.

Now see I was going to say trim it down to a cm. That's what mine says to do. Hopefully someone will come on with a definite answer soon!

Take 2 neurofen before you go and be prepared for small talk. Get some aloe Vera for afterwards.

-Wear a skirt you can hoik up.
-It hurts like hell so be prepared for that.

She'll walk you to the room and ask you to remove the clothes on your bottom half except your pants, unless it's a brazilian.

She'll leave the room whilst you undress and then lay down and cover up with a towel.

She'll give you a tissue to tuck in your pants and ask you how far you want her to go.

You then have to turn your leg out and pull the skin whilst she waxes. She'll use tweezers at the end to get any stragglers and some cream to soothe.

She'll do the other side then the top if you want it.

Thank you

It's someone I know doing it so don't want to embarrass myself though it's probably worse if you know them right?

I don't want too much off just to tidy it up

Oooo conline strip wax hurts like heLlandudno, op if you can try go somewhere which does hot waxing, no strips involved and hurts a lot less!

Trim down to 1.5-2 cm. Take 2 ibruprofen 30 mins before your appointment. It will be fine.

Why no yoga beforehand?

I get everything off (had it today at 33 weeks pregnant) barely hurts with hot wax so I would absolutely suggest that rather than strips.

And trim beforehand (it's actually easier if you use a specific bikini like electric trimmer, it will be even more painful if you don't.

Oh and book your next appointment immediately after for 4 weeks later... The first time is the worst and it's so much easier just to keep on top of it?

Ignore Conline: Trim.

The first one on each side hurts then after that it'll be fineish.

Know whether you're there for full month or not. I now have a Brazilian I was too scared to say I didn't want really.

Hot wax is definitely much less painful. I would also recommend trimming. You feel a bit embarrassed at first but it's soon fine & you're chatting away. The last time I had hot wax it was a disturbing brown colour, had chocolate in or something. DP wasn't sure what had happened when I got undressed that night Confused

If you just want the stragglers on the edge of your pants cleared then a wee trim depending on how long they are.

I'm a beauty therapist and have done more bikini waxes than had hot dinners!!

You must trim to about 1cm else it pulls and hurts like hell. Anyone that tells you not to has no idea what they're on about.

Jasper - I don't know why exactly, I guessed it was because it made me nice and relaxed...but I don't normally mind a bikini wax at all, but that one had me howling.

I get it done every month during summer for years and never trimmed. Used all sorts of beauticians in those years. No one mentioned trimming and while it's a bit painful it's over quickly and worth it.

Properly trained intimate waxer who uses hot wax

Report
WipsGlitter · 11/06/2016 08:52

But if you get it done every month it won't need trimmed. If you've three inch long ones then possibly a go over with the nail scissors is a good idea.
