Wax! First time for a down there wax. It's booked jut before my holiday and I really want it doing.

I'm not soft and have a decent pain threshold but any advice on how I can prepare? anything I should do or know about before hand.

Don't drink wine! I tried that once and it makes it 100 x worse!!!!

from an experienced wax-ee:

take a pain killer about 45 mins before, wear a skirt and go commando, drive to the appointment don't walk. Go commando and in skirt for the rest of the day. And the day after if you've got sensative skin like me. If not then loose cotton undies and loose clothes will do. Don't use scented body wash for a few days! That stings!
Avoid skinny Jeans/leggings for a few days.

And hope/request an experienced person! Then its fine, with a "learner" its awful (in my experience!)

Hope that helps Smile

Make sure it's hot wax not strip. I don't do anything to prepare other than wash. You'll be fine.

I have always wanted to get waxed down there but I just cannot imagine lying there with my bits on show to some young girl!

I don't know how they do it! I'm embarrassed just thinking about it!

Good luck, do tell us how it goes

Make sure the hair being removed isn't too long, or it might hurt/be difficult/need trimming while in there.

I second trimming first, though not too close to the skin. Be prepared for them to wax your bum area too as that's included in a Hollywood!

I used an electric razor. Good job. No discomfort afterwards.

The pain is infinitely less embarrassing than the moment they wax your bum hole and the intimate touching that occurs. Personally, I think lots of wine is the only way it's bareable!! Grin

Second using a painkiller in advance (not aspirin though)

They have seen absolutely everything before so don't be embarrassed. But be prepared for a bum wax!

The one time I drank wine beforehand was less embarrassing.......but in lowing in inhibitions I couldn't help but let out a silly little squeal with each strip that was pulled off Grin was kinda funny!!!

Hmm. I've been considering this..now I'm not so sure!

I have a beautician I regularly see for my brows and nails. I know she does it.. but we've become friends now. I don't think I can show her my fanjo.

Genuinely, they do it all the time, she will have forgotten what your bits look like the moment you walk out the door.

I'm more embarrassed about showing my flabby guts than my fanjo nowadays.

I'm in the couple-of-painkillers and a good wash camp.

I've never had a wax at all, and I think I'd like a bit of a tidy up before holiday this year - do you trim it yourself before you go, or what? Can someone explain how it works please?
P.S there will be no Hollywood here....bum hole waxing?

For all this pain how long does one go between waxing?

Report
AMcoffeeLover · 02/06/2015 10:58

I can go 6 Weeks between waxes in the summer. Over winter its just basic maintenance, not full waxes.
For me the longer I wax the easier it gets.

Not a good plan to go immediately before a holiday. My friend did this, her skin reacted badly to the wax and the resulting pain and symptoms caused problems on holiday and required medical attention!

Nobody, but nobody should have to wax the ring piece of another person for a living.

This waxing stuff has become REALLY fecking weird.

I do hollywoods all day long Grin.

If you're not a regular waxer, be prepared for some quite early regrowth. It can take 2 or 3 waxes for all the hair to get into the same growth cycle. After a couple of waxes you should get 6 weeks between appointments - so 2-3 weeks completely hair free with minimal regrowth after that.

In the days leading up to your appointment, exfoliate gently, it'll help pop out any ingrown hairs. You can carry on exfoliating gently from about 3 days after your wax to help prevent ingrowns.

Pop a painkiller about 45 mins before your appointment.

Don't trim! I do that for my clients if it needs doing. Some people that have trimmed themselves have trimmed too short.

Make sure your therapist is using a good hot wax (no strips) - Perron Rigot, Lycon or Berodins are the three best hot waxes. If they're using a good wax your skin will settle back to normal within a couple of hours.

Make sure they wear gloves, sanitise their hands before the treatment, and don't double dip - once the spatula full of wax has touched your skin they should be throwing it away and using a new spatula for each application of wax.

Try and relax (easier said than done Grin) and breathe. Afterwards no hot bath or shower for 24 hours, lukewarm is fine. No sauna, swimming or sunbathing for 48 hours.

And yes, I include the bum crack from top to bottom as part of my treatment.

You'll be fine!

Meant to add, if you can find a 'Kim Lawless trained' waxer (which I am), they're the best Grin.
