everything in there is small and shiny and obscure and costs ££££££

although i do like nars blusher, but can get that in selfridges, where you have room to actually open your handbag

so is it a stndard thing for them to hire a wardrobe as premises then? as i have been in bigger cupboards i am sure Confused

and not as much variety as i was expecting either...small pots of poncification everywhere but not a mahoosive amount of choice

i was distinctly underwhelmed, frankly Hmm

Actually I used to be scared but if you speak to the staff they are lovely.
They have stupidly expensive stuff but lots is more reasonably priced -comparable with clinique or estee lauder, and really good.
Plus they always stuff my bag full of samples which is fun.
And they are never orange. Grin

yars, small small place crammed with things and you can only walk towards the cash desk.

I remember being a stjoodent and dreaaming of investing in the Caudalie skin serum or Chantecaille foundation and now I can , i am a miserly scrooge and buy superdrug vitamin e oil and rimmel.

I agree the staff in SpaceNK are lovely. This time of year they tend to clutter the place up with expensive gift sets and nervous looking men but go 'off peak' and they're so helpful.

Not really noticed the size thing though.

really? did i run away too quickly then?

mainly it was because i was afraid of knocking over the whole caboodle like a house of cards with my vast collection of shopping i had with me

so go back when it is quiet, yes?
FWIW, the mac is ok but i'm not delighted with it :(

i will save my pennies and perhaps have another go off season...

Yes, go off peak.
And be straight about what you want. I will say - 'i am not prepared to spend more than £x ' or ' I am not happy about spending that much without trying it first'

And if you talk to them about make up let them book you in for a make up thingy.
That was when I found two products that I use all the time.

Don't let them sell you the snake venom thing though . That is shit.

I love NK too, although completely baulk at paying the £36 that those diptyque candles now go for. Staff are lovely though.

I love it. We don't have lots of thr brands anywhere else up here. I was in on Monday buying some Kiehls stuff and noticed a few scared looking blokes!

Yes agree should be renamed NotMuchSpaceNK

But agree that if you give the staff a chance they are very helpful and not pushy at all.

I'm lucky in the ones I go to near home (Richmond) and work (Bloomsbury) - they are both a good size, which does make browsing much more relaxing and pleasant.

Must also say that, not only in those two (the Richmond manager is a real star) but in all the other branches I've visited, I've found the staff incredibly helpful, ready to give useful advice without pushing, and happy to suggest different products at various price levels, not just the most expensive. And I don't work for their PR company!

They always ignore me because I am over 40 - which seems a pity because I can afford the prices and want to buy but get very pissed off when the staff chat to the under 20's who have no intention of actually making a purchase. Don't know why I go into the Bristol branch at all actually - I've been in and walked out for this reason more times than I can remember and bought what I want in Selfridges later.

Mayor - was that the Bath one? They're very helpful in there - get the loyalty card and then you get 20% off on certain days.

higgle - it's a shame if they do treat over 40s like that at any of the branches. But I'm WELL over 40 and the staff in the two I go to most regularly couldn't be nicer. Have never so far been treated other than well in other branches either, so perhaps the Bristol staff are not up to the generally high standard.

Report
polyhymnia · 23/12/2010 17:51

PS And the loyalty card is great. Was told today I have £10 on mine so the present I bought was £6, instead of £16. V. welcome at this time of year.

because it's small they tend to pounce on you. Would rather be left to browse but i don't blame them, am sure they're trained to approach instantly. Would love to go have a fondle/sniff of products in my local one but hate being watched and fussed over
